Kelly Clarkson’s Husband Surprises Her Onstage, Moves Her to Tears [Watch]

Kelly Clarkson was in for a surprise on the final night of her Meaning of Life Tour. While performing her song “Piece by Piece” in Greenville, S.C., her husband, Brandon Blackstock arrived onstage unannounced, leaving his singing wife in tears.

Clarkson started “Piece by Piece” backed by a single acoustic guitarist, but, near the end of the song, Blackstock — also armed with an acoustic guitar — came out onstage behind Clarkson, and he and the original guitarist sneakily switched places. As the crowd caught on and began screaming, Clarkson turned around and figured out what was going on.

The American Idol winner tried to maintain her composure, but she eventually needed to stop the song. “This is my husband,” Clarkson told the cheering crowd, giggling with surprise and excitement. She did eventually complete the song — though she was overcome with emotion a couple more times — embracing Blackstock during the final line.

Kelly Clarkson’s All-Time Best Country Duets

The title track of Clarkson’s 2015 studio album, “Piece by Piece” is an emotional song about the juxtaposition between Clarkson’s own father, who abandoned their family when she was young, and Blackstock, with whom Clarkson has two children. The Top 10 hit is often a heavy, yet beautiful, moment during Clarkson’s live sets.

Clarkson and Blackstock have been married since 2013. He is the son of Narvel Blackstock, making him Reba McEntire’s stepson (though Blackstock and McEntire are now divorced) and Clarkson McEntire’s daughter-in-law.

Stronger Than The Truth amazon.com

Reba McEntire is most definitely a force to be reckoned with. More than 40 years after the Oklahoma native first stepped into the country music scene, she’s now known as a powerhouse singer, actress, producer, and much more.

Even with her ever-growing list of talents, Reba remains super passionate about music, which is evident in her latest album, “Stronger Than the Truth.” The album, which was released in April of last year, is up for a 2020 Grammy for Best Country Album and has prompted a highly anticipated tour that is set to kick off this March.

“ the kind of country music that I grew up with,” the three-time Grammy winner tells GoodHousekeeping.com about her newest work. “The songs that make you laugh, the ones that make you want to get up and dance, or the ones that make you cry. To me, that’s a really good country song.”

While Reba is excited to get back on the road with a new setlist and create a one-of-a-kind experience for fans, her family remains front and center in her mind. The artist shares a son named Shelby Blackstock with her ex-husband Narvel Blackstock, who she married in 1989 in the midst of touring and starring in her first movie, Tremors.

A post shared by Reba (@reba) on Jun 21, 2015 at 11:33am PDT

After 26 years, the couple decided to divorce in 2015. Despite the split, Reba prides herself on continuing to have a close relationship with Shelby along with Narvel’s three children from a previous marriage. Country fans may recall that fellow music star Kelly Clarkson is married to Narvel’s son Brandon Blackstock.

“When you go through a divorce, you don’t divorce your children,” Reba says. “You stay in contact and you continue to love them, guide them, and help them. You’re still a parent.”

But it doesn’t end there. Her kids aside, the “Fancy” singer also dedicates time to calling her mother back home in Oklahoma and staying in touch with her three siblings.

“Mama’s 93 years old now and it’s getting to the point where we need to really help take care of her,” she explains. “A good friend of mine called us the sandwich generation — we’ve got our kids pretty much raised … but now we’re taking care of our parents, so it’s a different time in our lives.”

Kelly Clarkson

Introduction and Early Life:

Kelly Clarkson is an American singer-songwriter and actress who rose to prominence in 2002 as the winner of the first season of singing competition series American Idol. She then embarked on a highly successful pop career with 91 hit singles number ones on the Billboard charts and an estimated record sales of more than 20 million units worldwide. Clarkson’s musical work has also gained her numerous accolades and several television and film projects.

Born “Kelly Brianne Clarkson” in Fort Worth, Texas in 1982, her father was an engineer and her mother an English teacher. Clarkson’s parents divorced when she was only five. She was raised Southern Baptist by her mother and was the leader of the youth group in the church. Clarkson graduated from Burleson High School, where she actively participated in musicals and singing contests.

Career and Musical Achievements:

Kelly Clarkson traveled to Los Angeles in 2001, unsuccessfully trying to break into show business. She moved to Burleson, Texas in 2002 and became a contestant on the first season of Fox Broadcasting Company’s famous singing competition, American Idol. Clarkson impressed the judges and the audience alike with her captivating voice, stage presence and sense of humor. After winning the contest, she secured prize money totaling $1 million and a recording contract with RCA Records.

Clarkson released her debut single, “A Moment Like This”, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and sold 236,000 copies in its first week. Her debut album, Thankful, came out in 2003. A huge critical and commercial success, the album debuted at number one on the American Billboard 200 and sold over 4.5 million units worldwide. Clarkson pursued a rock music direction with her second full-length album, Breakaway, in 2004. The Grammy-winning album spawned hit singles such as “Because of You”, “Behind These Hazel Eyes”, and “Since U Been Gone” and went on to sell more than 11 million units worldwide.

Clarkson’s third studio album, My December, was released in 2007. The platinum-selling album reflected a maturity in her songwriting skills. Her fourth album, All I Ever Wanted (2009), debuted at number one and featured hit singles such as “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “I Do Not Hook Up”. Clarkson’s fifth studio album, Stronger (2011), sold over one million units and spawned international chart-toppers such as “Mr. Know It All” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”

Her first compilation album, Greatest Hits – Chapter One, was released in 2012. Clarkson’s subsequent albums Wrapped in Red (2013) and Piece by Piece (2015) were also big commercial successes.

Awards and Accolades:

Kelly Clarkson has won numerous awards and accolades in his career, including three Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, two American Country Awards, two People’s Choice Awards, five Teen Choice Awards, and a Women’s World Award.

Personal Life:

Kelly Clarkson married her manager’s son Brandon Blackstock in 2013. She gave birth to their daughter, River Rose Blackstock, in 2014. Clarkson is a well-known philanthropist who supports various charitable foundations and has participated in a number of benefit concerts.

  • Kelly Clarkson talked about her sex life with husband Brandon Blackstock during a recent “Ask Me Anything” video for The Kelly Clarkson Show.
  • When The Voice winner Brynn Cartelli asked Kelly what she did every night before bed, the “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” singer gave an answer that her fans loved.
  • Kelly and Brandon have been married since October 2013.

Kelly Clarkson is as refreshingly honest as it gets, even when it comes to her sex life with her husband, Brandon Blackstock — and that’s exactly why her fans adore her.

For a recent Kelly Clarkson Show “Ask Me Anything” segment, Kelly was a totally open book chatting with The Voice winner Brynn Cartelli. While the Q&A started off innocently, things got hilariously candid when Brynn asked her former Voice coach, “What’s the last thing you do before you go to bed, every night?” Of course, the “Behind These Hazel Eyes” singer could’ve kept things PG and said something like putting lotion on her legs or reading a few chapters of her favorite book. But that just wouldn’t be Kelly.

“Well, Brynn, I was single for many years, so … I have children,” she began. “And how one makes children is generally what I do before bed. That’s not a lie. That’s real. And it’s not weird! It’s natural!”

After watching her response on YouTube, Kelly’s fans went ballistic in the best way in the comments. “This proves that Kelly has no filter 😂😂,” one fan joked in the comment section. “I love that you’re so down to earth! ❤,” another said. A different fan, meanwhile, proudly declared, “Every night before bed?!?!? Kelly Clarkson for the win!!!”

Of course, this is far from the first time Kelly has made it clear that she’s crazy about Brandon, who she has a daughter, River Rose, and son, Remington Alexander, with. Their romance began back in 2012 at Super Bowl XLVI thanks to Brandon’s dad, Narvel Blackstock, who managed Kelly and introduced his son to the singer after Brandon divorced his first wife.

What’s more, she was not shy opening up to Redbook back in 2017 about her unending desire for her hubby.

“To keep it family appropriate, let’s say we’re just a lot more active than other couples. I’m a person who loves change. He loves spontaneity. Having a set time or place would be boring to us.”

She continued: “I had never found someone I was truly passionate about, who I wanted to stay in bed with all day. The fact that I did, well … I was going to latch on and take advantage of that.”

You go, Kelly. You go.

Kelly Clarkson opens up about prioritising family life, despite her busy schedule

Being a mum who works outside the home is tough, especially if you don’t work standard working hours.

Sometimes you might be gone before your children are awake in the morning or they might be asleep by the time you get home.

This is something that Kelly Clarkson opened up about to People recently.

The American Idol winner is a mum to River Rose, 5 and Remington Alexander, 3, who she shares with Brandon Blackstock. She is also a step mum to Blackstocks two children from a previous marriage.

The 37-year-old is a judge on American Idol and has her own talk show, but she told People that being ‘mum’ is her number most important job.

She said that she films her show around her kids routine rather than the other way around.

“When we were doing the schedule for the show, I was like, ‘I have to drop my kids off at school.’ And I’m always the one who puts them to bed. You just have to prioritize and juggle and make people know it’s an important thing. And don’t feel guilty about it.”

Kelly also discussed being a step mum:

“We’re a blended family. We work very hard at that.”

The mum also shared what her kids think of the fact that she is now a talk show host:

“Our 3-year-old doesn’t get it but the 5-year-old, she’s very clever. She’s already asked that I have Chris Martin on to sing ‘Yellow.’ It’s her favorite song.”

Favorite Quotes from Kelly Clarkson

“The question I love to get asked is: ‘What’s the hardest part of your job?’ And literally, the answer is probably really sad, but it’s to just to be me. Like, it’s really hard, because I think people, you know, have a set idea of what a pop star should be.” – Kelly Clarkson

“I’ve got a song on One Direction’s album called ‘Tell Me A Lie’. It’s a really cute song – I love it. I loved that they liked it. They sound really great on it. I already have it – I’m so VIP with my copy on my computer! It does sound really good.” – Kelly Clarkson

“I’m cute – and God I hate that. Because that’s not cool. I’m like your niece, and nobody wants to date their niece. It’s the chubby cheeks. The whole reason people voted for me on American Idol is that I’m an everyday, normal girl.” – Kelly Clarkson

“I would not be a good mother. I mean, I love being an aunt to my niece and nephew. And I used to want to, like, adopt 10 kids – because I had friends who were adopted, and I thought that was the coolest thing, to be chosen. But again, my job is too selfish.” – Kelly Clarkson

“I sound the same regardless if I’m 20 pounds heavier or 20 pounds lighter, and I think that’s the key thing with my fans and why they continue to be loyal because I’m that type of person.” – Kelly Clarkson

3 Life Lessons from Kelly Clarkson

Now that you know all about Kelly Clarkson’s net worth, and how she achieved success; let’s take a look at some of the lessons we can learn from her:

1. Letting Go Of Things Not Meant For You is Sweet Freedom

Liking the idea of someone more than you like the actual person is dissatisfying for both of you. When you let go of the person, it opens you up to the availability of what you truly want.

I’m pretty sure it’s Buddhism, or a law of the universe, or just Kelly’s way of telling us not to be held down by settling for someone who doesn’t treat you well.

2. Your Name Being Screamed As a Curse Word Can Be Hilarious

Steve Carell is everyone’s favorite 40-Year-Old Virgin. During this classic scene, he ad-libbed his outbursts while his chest was waxed. Words with hard consonant sounds being screamed in a pain response let you know someone is really feeling it.

3. Not Fitting In Can Push You To Your Destiny

Kelly grew up in Burleson, Texas. She knew she wouldn’t be able to follow her musical dreams there, but leaving everything she knew was scary. Taking the risk of leaving to audition for American Idol changed the trajectory of her life, but she still remembers where she comes from.

Summary

Kelly Clarkson is one of the most successful artists to come out of the ‘American Idol’ series. As she achieved success, she experimented with different themes and music styles. Clarkson, he has won the ‘Grammy Award’ three times.

As of 2020, Kelly Clarkson’s net worth is estimated to be roughly $45 Million dollars.

Born on April 24, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas, Kelly Clarkson showed an early interest in music. She sang in her high school choir, and set off to Los Angeles at an early age to pursue a music career. When she fell short, she returned to Texas and that is when Clarkson landed herself on American Idol. This would prove to be her big breakthrough, skyrocketing her to success almost overnight as the show became wildly popular.

Kelly Clarkson’s success obviously increased infinitely when she became the very first winner of American Idol, and her net worth definitely reflects that success. At the age of 36, Kelly Clarkson has an estimated net worth of $28 million. While most of her worth comes directly from her singing career, some of her income is derived from side projects.

Her lucrative singing career

Kelly Clarkson has had quite a lucrative singing career. Her first album, Thankful, rode on the success of her American Idol win. It was her second album, Breakaway, that proved to be her most successful, however. The follow-up album won two Grammy awards and produced Clarkson’s most popular hit singles. These include Since U Been Gone, Breakaway, Behind These Hazel Eyes, and Walk Away.

The albums which followed were not nearly as successful as Breakaway, but they were far from flops. Moderately successful included My December (2007), Stronger (2011), Wrapped in Red (2013), Piece by Piece (2015), and Meaning of Life (2017). Her seven albums (and the concerts, appearances, etc. which came with them) are where Clarkson earned the majority of her net worth.

Book Writing

In addition to singing, Kelly Clarkson has published two separate children’s books. The first book, River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, has received 130 five-star reviews on Amazon. The second book, River Rose and the Magical Christmas, has received 45 five-star reviews on Amazon. Both books are named after Clarkson’s daughter, River Rose.

In 2018, Kelly Clarkson joined the cast of singing competition show The Voice as a celebrity coach. She joined Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Jennifer Hudson on the show. This step in Clarkson’s career seems only fitting. Not only is she known for her phenomenal vocals, but since her own start in music began on a competition show it appears her career has come full circle.

Acting

Throughout the years, Kelly Clarkson has appeared in several small acting roles. The first major ones of these were in the movie From Justin to Kelly, which was done with the American Idol season one runner-up, Justin Guarini. Despite having both of the show’s finalists as stars, the movie was a flop. Kelly Clarkson also appeared in American Dreams, Reba, and The Star.

Future Projects

Kelly Clarkson has a number of upcoming projects. Most notable among these is the start of her own television talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, which is set to debut later this year. She will also be hosting the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, and has two acting roles in progress. The first is for 2019’s UglyDolls movie, where she is slotted to play Moxy. The second is for 2020’s Trolls: World Tour, where she is slotted to play Delta Dawn.

Is Kelly Clarkson Married? Her Husband Is Related to One of Country’s Biggest Stars

Kelly Clarkson is the ultimate American Idol success story. The singer won the very first season of the show, way back in 2002, beating out Justin Guarini (remember him?) to win a $1 million recording contract.

To some people’s surprise, her career was more than a flash in the pan. She’s gone on to release multiple chart-topping albums and to appear as a coach on another singing competition show, The Voice. And this Wednesday, she’s hosting the Billboard Music Awards for the second year in a row.

She’s married to Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Clarkson’s career is on fire (she’s also making her animated film debut in the upcoming UglyDolls movie), but her personal life keeps her grounded. The 37-year-old has been married to Brandon Blackstock since 2013.

Clarkson met her husband through her manager Narvel Blackstock. The Blackstock family has a major connection to country music royalty. Narvel was married to Reba McEntire for more than 25 years, until the couple divorced in 2015. Brandon is Narvel’s son from his previous marriage, but Reba had previously said she considered her stepkids the same as her own. (Reba and Narvel also had one child together, a son named Shelby.)

Clarkson and McEntire are close

Not every woman gets along with her mother-in-law, but Clarkson and McEntire have a close relationship.

“We’re family,” McEntire told US Weekly earlier this year. “She married my oldest son, Brandon, but we’re also good friends, so that goes a long way — when you can have a good friend as a part of your family.”

The pair have even recorded together in the past and were nominated for a Grammy in 2007 for Clarkson’s song “Because of You.” McEntire says she hopes she gets to work with her daughter-in-law again in the future, though their busy schedules mean that finding time to collaborate is a challenge. “We don’t get to spend as much time nowadays as we used to,” she said.

Clarkson has said that “meeting Reba, being friends with her, and eventually becoming family has been one of the highlights of my life.”

How many kids does Kelly Clarkson have?

Clarkson announced her first pregnancy just one month after marrying Blackstock. She gave birth to a daughter named River Rose in June 2014. In April 2016, she and Blackstock had a second child, a son named Remington Alexander. Clarkson also has two stepkids, Seth and Savannah, from her husband’s first marriage.

Not only is Clarkson’s career keeping her busy, but she’s also adjusting to a cross-country move. The family recently relocated from Tennessee to Los Angeles. Like many people, she decided to move to be closer to work, she told USA Today. She says that unpacking hasn’t been that much fun, but that creating a look for her new place has been fun.

“I love decorating, honestly. So I don’t mind moving. I love a fresh start,” she said.

The Billboard Music Awards air Wednesday, May 1 at 8/7c on NBC.

The snowmobiles were a fitting gift indeed since the “Because of You” singer revealed that she and her family would be spending the holidays in Montana, because “I have a ranch y’all.”

“We both love getting out in nature, we love the country and we are not really city people,” the Texas native told Us. “It is nice to go out and have your kids do stuff outside and in nature. So that is what we will be doing the whole time. You won’t find me. I will be lost in a ranch!”

Clarkson recently opened up about her sex life with her husband, who she’s been married to since 2013, during a round of “Ask Me Anything” on The Kelly Clarkson Show — and the “Meaning of Life” crooner didn’t hold anything back.

After The Voice season 14 winner Brynn Cartelli asked her former coach “What is the last thing you do before you go to bed every night?” … Clarkson got real.

“Well, Brynn, I was single for many years,” she answered. “So, I have children , and how one makes children is generally what I do before bed. That’s not a lie, that’s real! And it’s not weird, it’s natural.”

The children’s book author doesn’t shy away from discussing her sex life with Blackstock, with whom she shares 5-year-old daughter River and 3-year-old son Remy. She is also the stepmother to Blackstock’s daughter Savannah, 17, and son Seth, 12, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth.

In 2017, the American Idol winner told Redbook about her private time with the talent manager. “Any time we’re in a discussion about sex with a bunch of couples, Brandon and I stay pretty quiet. To keep it family appropriate, let’s say we’re just a lot more active than other couples,” the singer told the magazine at the time. “I’m a person who loves change. He loves spontaneity. Having a set time or place would be boring to us.”
