Will NBC cancel or renew America’s Got Talent for season 14? Unless something unforeseen happens, it’s about as likely to be cancelled as I am to dine on unicorn. The talent competition has actually risen in the ratings over the past couple of years. What’s more, the network is launching a spin-off this coming winter. Still, I’ll keep a hungry on the ratings and update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for America’s Got Talent cancellation or renewal alerts.

The AGT bow will feature its new judge lineup and host, with Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough taking over for veteran judges Heidi Klum and Mel B and America’s Got Talent: The Champions frontman Terry Crews emceeing after Tyra Banks hosted the show last year. Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel are returning to the judges table.

Created by EP Cowell and co-produced by Fremantle and Syco Entertainment, AGT has been a summer ratings juggernaut for NBC, ranking as the No. 1 alternative series for the past 13 years. Sam Donnelly, Jason Raff, Trish Kinane and Richard Wallace also serves as executive producers.

Filming begins this week on American Ninja Warrior, which is hosted by Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila. E! News co-anchor Zuri Hall is the new sideline reporter this season, giving viewers a preview of the course, sharing crowd reactions and doing post-race interviews with the competitors.

Produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions, the show delivered as the most-watched broadcast of the night with each of its final five telecasts in summer 2018. Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Brian Richardson, Anthony Storm and Kristen Stabile are the executive producers.

The addition of Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough have made America’s Got Talent even better than it was before. They really add something special. In a way, the judges stand-in for us the audience. They pick who they think we the fans like best. So, the question is: Which one of the AGT Judges 2019 are you? Take our personality test and find out.

I took the quiz and it turns out I’m Howie Mandel. I’m not surprised by this. For one thing I’ve spent my entire life doing comedy and also I once got in trouble in the 4th grade for imitating Howie Mandel. It was the 80’s and one of Howie’s signature bits was to pull a rubber glove over his head and inflate it. I thought this was hilarious and, (since my mom is a doctor and I had access to unlimited rubber gloves), I thought I’d try it out at school. Needless to say my teachers weren’t pleased when I pulled a rubber glove over my head in the middle of theology class. I got detention, but it was worth it.

We’ve crafted this quiz to take into account the new AGT judges 2019 Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough. They’ve really brought a lot of energy and fun to the show. This is not to say we didn’t love Mel B and Heidi Klum, we did. It’s just that Julianne and her knowledge of dance is something that was definitely missing from the show. She’s also so upbeat and fun that it’s a delight to watch her. I love Gabrielle because she makes amazing faces when it’s a dumb/weird act on stage. Interestingly enough they are the same faces my co-host and partner in crime Mel make when I say I liked some bizarre act. It’s like silent sarcasm and judgement.

  • America’s Got Talent will return for a 14th season on May 28, 2019.
  • Terry Crews will replace Tyra Banks as the AGT host, Variety reports.
  • Longtime AGT judges Heidi Klum and Mel B are exiting the show, and will be replaced by Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough.

As every avid fan of AGT knows, each season is full of exciting surprises and new primetime drama — and season 14 won’t be any different, so here’s a look at everything we know so far:

AGT season 14 will be coming back on Tuesday, May 28 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

View this post on Instagram

America, mark your calendars! #AGT is back Tuesday, May 28 8/7c. 🎉🗓

A post shared by America’s Got Talent – AGT (@agt) on Mar 5, 2019 at 12:23pm PST

Just like in past seasons, the talent competition will be returning in late May in its usual time slot and will wrap up by the middle of September.

Season 14 will follow the same format.

No crazy new rules (or golden buzzer changes) this year. As with season 13, the show will follow the usual schedule, according to Gold Derby, which includes:

  • 6 audition episodes (until July 9).
  • 4 judge cut episodes (until August 6).
  • 6 quarter-final episodes (until August 28).
  • 4 semi-final episodes (until September 11).
  • A two-part finale episode that will air on both September 17 and 18.

With that being said, there are plenty of changes coming your way in season 14 …

Terry Crews will be the AGT host, replacing Tyra Banks.

NBCGetty Images

Back in December, it was reported that Tyra Banks, host of AGT seasons 12 and 13, would be stepping away from her role on the NBC show for the time being. The reason for Tyra’s departure was never given, but we’re guessing her hectic schedule and variety of other projects were to blame.

As we look forward to season 14, Variety reports that actor and former NFL player Terry Crews — who hosted AGT: The Champions — will officially step in to take her place.

Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough will join the AGT judges’ panel.

After six seasons on America’s Got Talent, judges Heidi Klum and Mel B left the show. They will be replaced by actress Gabrielle Union and dancer Julianne Hough, who has also been a judge on Dancing in the Stars in the past.

“I’m honest and direct … but all with love,” Julianne told Today about what kind of judge she is. “The fact is, we want people to succeed, so we’re already rooting for you before you even begin.”

She also added that returning judges Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel are really great to work with, and that they all have great “chemistry” together.

Why did Simon and Howie stay on? Simon’s easy — as the show’s executive producer and head judge, it would be pretty surprising if he left AGT. As for Howie, the comedian joked to People that he thinks his salary has something to do with it.

“I think if I had to put one word on why NBC keeps me on the show, I would say affordable,” Howie said. “I would like other people to know I’m affordable. It doesn’t cost you that much, I’ll show up.” Thanks for keeping it real, Howie!

The guest judges will be totally different.

Ken Jeong, Olivia Munn, Martina McBride, and Chris Hardwick were tapped in season 13 to pick their favorites in the judge cuts round. This year though, it’s a brand new lineup — Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actress Ellie Kemper, talk show legend Jay Leno, country music singer Brad Paisley, and NBA star Dwayne Wade (who happens to be married to Gabrielle) will all be guest starring on the show this year.

  • America’s Got Talent returns for Season 14 on Tuesday, May 28 at 8 pm ET.
  • Some big changes are coming—Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, and Mel B have all left the show.
  • Terry Crews will replace Tyra as host, while Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough will join the judges.

Hot summer nights are right around the corner, and the competition on America’s Got Talent is about to heat up right along with them. That’s right, the fan-favorite reality competition show is back for Season 14 this May, and it already seems like it’ll be better than ever.

If you’re a die-hard AGT fan, you already know to expect top-notch talent from tons of different variety acts. But all that amazingness only scratches the surface. Here’s everything else you can look forward to this season:

America’s Got Talent Season 14 premieres on Tuesday, May 28 at 8 pm ET.

Mark your calendar for some quality couch time that night. Watch the season premiere on NBC, or, if you’re a cord cutter, you can still stream the show live from the NBC app, simply by signing into your (or let’s be real, your parents’) cable provider account. Got a wild Tuesday night planned? No problem—you can also watch the next day on Hulu.

A new host will take over the AGT stage.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans will spot a familiar face this season: Terry Crews. The actor and former NFL player (casual) is taking over hosting duties from model Tyra Banks, who hosted seasons 12 and 13.

It’s unknown why Tyra chose to step down this season, though she did tell Access Hollywood way back in November 2018: “I think I had a really nice run with AGT… I’m going to be producing TV, and I have a massive project starting next year. I’m not so sure, but if I don’t come back, I had a lot of fun.”

Tyra will certainly be missed by AGT fans, but at least they can rest easy knowing the show is in good hands, considering Terry has already showed off his hosting chops in the most recent season of America’s Got Talent: The Champions. (He also hosted Who Wants To Be A Millionaire from 2014 to 2015, per Deadline.)

Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough are the newest AGT judges.

After a solid six season run, judges Heidi Klum and Mel B have said goodbye to America’s Got Talent. While fans are sad to see them go, they’re already looking forward to seeing how the two new hosts, actress Gabrielle Union and dancer Julianne Hough (both of whom are Women’s Health cover stars, btw), shake up the show this season.

Gabrielle is new to judging competitions (unless you count the shade she threw at the Toros’ stolen cheer performance in Bring It On), but Julianne is already a pro, having previously been a judge on Dancing With The Stars. (Not to mention that judging reality competition shows basically runs in her family—Julianne’s brother Derek is a judge on World of Dance.)

Judges Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel will return this season.

Not only will Simon Cowell (arguably the world’s most famous TV competition judge) will return to host this season of America’s Got Talent, but he’s also an executive producer. “I want to thank NBC for their continued passion and belief for America’s Got Talent over the past few years,” Simon said in a statement when his return was officially announced in 2018. “…We have been able to attract the best talent in the world. I’m very excited for the next few years.”

Fellow longtime judge Howie Mandel also gushed to USA Today about how much he loves being a part of AGT. “I feel that I am on probably the most well-produced show on television,” he told the publication in August 2018. “…As somebody who is familiar with what goes on behind the scenes, there is no show that is comparable, even close.”

Think you know **everything** about America’s Got Talent? Think again…

You’ll meet some pretty awesome guest judges, too.

According to TalentRecap, former Tonight Show host Jay Leno will be the first guest judge on AGT this season. After him comes country singer Brad Paisley, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star and The Office alum Ellie Kemper, and a surprise mystery judge. These judges will take their guest spot on the panel during Judge Cuts episodes.

They each get the opportunity to hit the Golden Buzzer (oooh) once, which will send a performer straight to the live shows. (ICYDK, the regular judges also get to press the Golden Buzzer whenever they want to send a contestant to the live shows.)

Obvi, the identity of the contestants who will receive Golden Buzzers are kept under wraps, but one thing’s for sure about the newest season of AGT: you won’t want to miss a second of it.

Alesha Dixon Joins ‘America’s Got Talent’ As A Judge For AGT: The Champions’ Season 2

Season 2 of Amerca’s Got Talent: The Champions is coming early 2020!

Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum will return as judges, and newcomer Alesha Dixon will join the judges’ panel. Dixon, who is a longtime fan-favorite judge on Britain’s Got Talent, will join the American spinoff, which started production six weeks after the star welcomed her second child.

The British judge will replace Melaine “Mel B” Brown, who judged the first season of Champions and seasons 8-13 of America’s Got Talent.

Terry Crews is also set to return to Champions as host after the success of the first season. The actor replaced supermodel Tyra Banks as host of America’s Got Talent on season 13.

The shakeup in the judges’ panel was announced in late September when Champions winner (and season 13 America’s Got Talent winner) Shin Lim revealed the news via a card trick.

In the last few weeks, Klum and Dixon have shared numerous behind-the-scenes videos from their time together on the Champions set, which also included Terry Crews, Cowell and Mandel.

“This is so exciting ❤️ Thanks for having me back,” Klum captioned a post in early fall when the show’s production started.

“And that’s a wrap folks! What an incredible 2 months I’ve had! ☀ @agt #AGTChampions!” Dixon shared with her fans on Instagram last week.

The second season of Champions, similar to the first season, will bring various acts from around the world – including America’s Got Talent – to showcase what Cowell describes as “the Olympics of talent.” The list of contestants for season 2 has not been announced yet.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions will premiere in early 2020.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions returns to NBC for season 2 on Monday, January 6, 2020, with Terry Crews as the show’s host and Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell serving, once again, as two of the competition’s four judges. Joining them are Heidi Klum and Alesha Dixon.

Although Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough judged season 14 alongside Mandel and Cowell, they were not asked back as judges for AGT: The Champions (you can read Heavy.com‘s full story on the controversy here).

Ahead of the season premiere, here’s what you need to know about the cast of judges:

I love this show, I love this desk, I love my @agt family and I can’t wait to get this party started! #AGTChampions

A post shared by Heidi Klum (@heidiklum) on Jan 6, 2020 at 6:30am PST

After 6 years judging America’s Got Talent, many fans of the show were surprised when Heidi Klum was not promoted as a judge for 2019’s season 14 (Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union replaced Klum and Mel B). As the news spread, Klum reacted on Twitter, writing “I wanted to say THANK YOU and how amazing the past six years have been while working on AGT… I love my fellow judges and our hosts and our AMAZING CREW… It’s been such an incredible experience and I will miss ALL OF YOU very much!” In a second tweet, she added “I will be watching and voting from home!”

Klum told Entertainment Tonight “It feels so good to be back and everyone has been so amazing. You know, there were welcome signs everywhere, the whole audience was chanting my name. I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I was going beet red. It was just really sweet. I didn’t expect it for everyone to be this welcoming.”

Ahead of the AGT: The Champions premiere, Klum took to Instagram to express her excitement. In a post, she wrote “I love this show, I love this desk, I love my @agt family and I can’t wait to get this party started!”

While Heidi Klum is a familiar face on America’s Got Talent, this is Alesha Dixon’s first season judging for AGT. She’s not new to the franchise, however, and has served as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions for eight seasons since 2012.

Although she’s the only new addition to the AGT judges’ panel this season, Dixon told Entertainment Tonight “I’m kind of learning everyone’s personalities and character traits. They’re all super easy and the blend is nice, because you never know when you put a panel together like how the chemistry is gonna be.”

Dixon rose to fame as a member of the girl group Mis-Teeq, and won BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2012. In addition to being a Got Talent judge, she is also a mom of two, a children’s book author, and the host of BBC’s The Greatest Dancer.

Tune in to America’s Got Talent: The Champions 2, Monday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
