The Nerd (real name Arthur Kensington, Jr., referred to as Gary in “A Date With Scarlett”) is a stereotypical nerd who is interested in video games, movies, books, television shows, and women. He also has a lisp when he speaks. Often, he imagines things he likes and says “That would be so cool” and later has a dream about them, with the dream not quite going as he would want. Aside from the Mad Scientist and the show’s titular chicken, the Nerd has appeared in more segments that any other character in the series.

In the finale of Season 9, he is tasked with jumping over the Grand Canyon on a motorcycle in order to prevent Robot Chicken from another threat of cancellation. Although he succeeds in jumping the canyon, he crashes into a truck and is killed in a fiery explosion. Despite this, his death was not permanent – as he is set to appear in Season 10; this is likely due to Robot Chicken’s inconsistency in terms of continuity (and because the Robot Chicken and the Mad Scientist brought him back to life by making him a cyborg). In fact, the Nerd has also died in his debut appearance.

Appearance Edit

The Nerd appears to be a young male adult. He has pale skin, brown short hair and two chipped teeth. He commonly wears a yellow shirt, black pants and tie and glasses with black frame. He is 26 years old, according to the sketch “The Great Star Wars Episode VII Jitters Song”, a sketch where he gets concerned about the possible outcome of the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Hollywood Nerd

  • Stargate SG-1:
    • Samantha Carter is assumed to be one of the most intelligent people on the planet. She’s also an attractive blonde. (Both of these were intentional on the part of the writers). Ah well, at least she dresses like you would expect from a military officer. Daniel Jackson fits the trope as well.
    • The show later subverted this in a Lower-Deck Episode which featured geeky scientists who followed every stereotype, down to the action-figures collection. The show also subverts this every single time it shows Dr. Lee.
  • Jennifer Keller (played by Jewel Staite) from Stargate Atlantis. Plus Carson Beckett, Radek Zelenka, Elizabeth Weir… Rodney McKay is somewhat less attractive, but he has his fans too.
  • Brian from Still Standing is both this and Camp Straight, which tends to turn most girls away from him.
  • The Suite Life of Zack and Cody: Cody Martin. He may be geeky and school-obsessed, but he’s definitely not bad looking, despite what other characters in the show (especially Zack) may say. In the sequel series, Bailey Pickett also fits this trope. She is rather nerdy and awkward, and she may have (according to London, anyway) poor fashion sense, but she’s very attractive regardless.
  • Supernatural:
    • With the show filled with beautiful people, the two Ghost Facer nerds are two attractive men. But seeing as how they’re both jerkasses, you can see why very few people like them.
    • And Sammy. Ruby even tells him that he’s “pretty buff for a nerd.”
    • Then there’s Charlie (played by Felicia Day), who isn’t made out to be unattractive, though she is a fan of every geeky thing the writers can think of and is also a Playful Hacker.
  • Teen Wolf has Stiles Stilinski, an awkward, spastic nerd who can’t get a date for the first three seasons despite the fact that he looks like Dylan O’Brien.
  • Eric Forman on That ’70s Show, though he’s not a total nerd (it’s referenced several times he’s an average joe with rather pitiful grades), but he does have quite the obsession over Star Wars and is a square compared to his friends.
  • Cute, goofy computer geek and budding hacker Mac of Veronica Mars is a Hollywood Nerd in the grand tradition, and particularly owes much to ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Willow. Mac is not a stick figure and has the shape of someone healthy but who could perhaps benefit from more exercise and less sitting in front of the computer.
    • Ironically, played by the same actress as one of the nerds from Napoleon Dynamite, which is listed as an aversion above. Also, Mac is far from even chubby, never mind overweight – she’s just standing next to the 5’1″ stick-thin Kristen Bell most of the time. In the Josie and the Pussycats movie, Rosario Dawson looked like an elephant next to Rachael Leigh Cook and Tara Reid – just look at her in Sin City to see how not true that is.
  • Justin in Wizards of Waverly Place is a nerdy sci-fi geek who is absolutely attractive. During the big crossover he’s dressed solely in trunks at one point showing that he has got absurdly well defined pecs and abs.
    • It would be interesting to point out that despite his nerdiness Justin has no problems with finding a girlfriend. Even the main character’s best friend has a huge crush on him. Justin: “Why does everyone think I don’t date? Remember the centaur, the werewolf and the goth girl?”
      • And then vampire and the angel Of Darkness.
  • The X-Files:
    • Fox Mulder. His private life is nonexistent, he has a vast collection of porn, he sleeps on the sofa since his bedroom is filled ceiling-high with cardboard boxes, he throws pencils at the ceiling in his office to see if they stick, he spends his free time hunting aliens, and he likes theorizing about aliens or monsters from folklore in front of complete strangers. And yet Mulder is tall, fit and attractive, to the extent that in the episode “Humbug” one of the circus “geeks” sarcastically remarked how one day all the freaks like him would be done away with by science and society and everyone would be “perfect” and boring like Mulder. Being an active FBI agent, he would be required to occasionally pass some physical fitness tests. Mulder is one of the few TV characters shown practicing the kind of physical training which might lead to having a physique like the actor’s; he is seen swimming laps in a pool, jogging and playing basketball in the gym. It may be speculated that the main issue with his social life is being a Conspiracy Theorist. Before Scully, he still had some relationships though-a female FBI agent is shown as being a former flame of his, along with an English policewoman. He also hooks up with a female vampire in one episode (or at least it’s strongly implied that they slept together).
    • Mulder’s trio of sidekicks, a team of tech-geeks and conspiracy theorists calling themselves the Lone Gunmen, are far less attractive and very bad with women. They have their short-lived spin-off The Lone Gunmen.
  • Quinn in Zoey 101. She gets a makeover later on in the show.
  • Top 10 television comedy geeks

Following an argument with a friend over who the funniest geek on TV was, I felt it was my duty to do some research and find out once and for all. And by my duty, I mean I hate losing arguments and couldn’t wait to rub his face in it with some facts.

I’ve therefore compiled a list of the top ten geeks from comedy television. If you disagree, feel free to leave a comment – we can discuss where you think I was wrong, then we can both, er, agree I was right. Enjoy.

    10. Ross Geller – Friends

Ross is a pure geek. He likes dinosaurs, he used to study karate and he played the keyboard to try and impress girls when he was younger. Yet still he managed to date some incredibly beautiful women, and on many occasions showed very quick wit. He is also no doubt a top comedy geek and has provided some brilliant comedy moments throughout the years. My personal favourite geeky moment is when he resorts to some terrible dancing with Monica (another geek worth a mention) to get on TV…

    9. Samuel Powers – Saved By The Bell

Okay, so I’m going old school here, but stick with me. While I was a fan of Saved By The Bell, undoubtedly the funniest character in it was Screech. He failed to fit in physically amongst the other good-looking characters and was only there due to his ability to do Zach’s homework, but always raised a laugh with his stupid ideas, and of course, comical voice…

    8. Howard Moon – The Mighty Boosh

Okay, so geek checklist… Poetry? Check. Fan of Jazz? Check. Howard is clearly the geek of the pair that is Vince Noir and Howard Moon. Constantly getting ribbed for having no style and of course, for his small eyes, Howard is a rather unfortunate geek and most of his comedy comes from that. For example, he is notoriously bad with the ladies and it is usual for his best friend Vince to let him down in some way or other…

    7. Spencer Olchin – King Of Queens

Probably the biggest loser on this list, Spencer or Spence has quite a few problems. He is short and stumpy, has no style, has no luck with ladies and worst of all is still living at home with his mum. What’s worse, they share the same room! He enjoys many fine geek things such as comic conventions and often has a very camp relationship with his friend Danny. While not a main character in King Of Queens, his appearances are always very funny, if sometimes painful to watch…

    6. Will McKenzie – The Inbetweeners

Does anyone on the list get bullied more than Will? Not likely. Forced to hang around with friends who constantly make jokes about his attractive mother, and would rather be anywhere than hang out with him, he is also the frequent victim of the school bully, Mark Donovan. And unfortunately for Will, unlike most geeks, even his teachers hate him.

Another geek who has very little success with the ladies, Will has come painfully close to ‘sealing the deal’ on more than one occasion, only to mess it up through his own awkwardness. His comic genius, however, I think comes from his quick wit and master of sarcasm. If, for some crazy reason, you have never watched Will in all his glory in The Inbetweeners, here is a short clip of what to expect…

    5. John Dorian – Scrubs

The geek more commonly known as JD is similar to Ross in that he is something of a cool geek. He is reasonably popular in his work, has a few good friends and has a good amount of success with the various women around Sacred Heart. However, his geek factor is confirmed by his love of Appletinis, his constant daydreaming, and his all-round immature behaviour…

    4. Liz Lemon – 30 Rock

The first (and only) woman on the list, Lemon as she is called throughout the show by Jack, is as socially awkward a woman as they come. Her dress sense has led to people questioning her sexuality, and many of her comments make her seem racist, or offensive to someone, even though she makes it clear she isn’t meaning to be. She deserves her place on the list for her blatant love of Star Wars…

    3. Tobias Fünke – Arrested Development

Anyone who watched Arrested Development will no doubt think that George Michael should have featured in this list. However, while he was, no doubt, a geek, he is a mere amateur in geekness compared to Tobias. A man so far in the closet, he could visit Narnia. He fails spectacularly at pretty much everything he tries, from parenting, to marriage, to a number of careers. It is these fails that make him such an important geek in the history of comedic TV in my opinion, and most of his brilliance comes from being able to make you laugh while only saying a few words. Check out this example…

    2. Carlton Banks – The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Constantly the butt of jokes from Will about being short, Carlton is surely most famous for his hilarious, and geeky dancing. Carlton is a smart kid, but sadly for him he is also very annoying, as Will loves to point out. His love of all things Tom Jones nails home his geek status…

    1. Dwight Schrute – The Office (American Version)

Dwight Schrute is undoubtedly the king of TV geeks. The character is pure comic gold and is of such importance to the show he has different relations with most of the main characters – there’s his ongoing battle with Jim, his desire to impress Michael, his contempt for Ryan as the temp and of course his love for Angela.

His geek credentials include loving Battlestar Galactica, Harry Potter, Lost and The Lord of The Rings. His belief in himself is what makes him so hilarious, as he believes he is a master of many things, including Karate. However he is normally mocked behind his back, mostly by Jim, and even Michael only resorts to his company when he has no alternative. Watch these clips of the Comedy Geek King and enjoy…

    • 10 successful US TV adaptations
    • 16 movie and TV moments to make a grown geek blub
    • 6 geeky spin-offs, mash-ups and new shows we’d love to see

While plenty of sitcoms have nerdy premises, there has been something of a renaissance recently in comedies that showcase geeks as characters—and not simply as cruel stereotypes. And they also offer a much broader scope of nerdery, from con-goers to fanfic writers to tabletop game-builders! Here are a bunch of our favorites, in case you need to add a few more giggles to your evening viewing.

    Bob’s Burgers

Every awkward preteen girl who gets a little bit too excited about something she loves while also harboring R-rated daydreams should meet Tina Belcher. Bob and Linda’s oldest child is blissfully unaware of what sets her apart from her peers at school, but that must be what makes it so easy for her to delight in fictional worlds. One minute she’s unabashedly playing in her room with her Equestranauts action figures and begging her dad to bring her to a convention, the next she’s penning erotic friend fiction that recasts her crushes and tormenters as zombies with a penchant not for brains, but for butts. Would that all kids could have the chutzpah to read out loud a story called “Buttloose” in front of the entire school without any self-consciousness. —Natalie Zutter

    Frasier

Frasier was one of the great bastions of nerdery in the ’90s, a place where you could reliably hear riffs about Mahler, jokes about Carl Jung, and where, for the most part, the intellectualism of Frasier Crane was appreciated (rather than mocked, as it was on Cheers.) My favorite example of their deep bench of knowledge is in season 5’s “Halloween.” Niles is throwing a benefit party for the Library Association, so everyone is expected to come dressed as their favorite literary characters. While the background partygoers seem a bit generic (lords, ladies, a Cleopatra, a devil) the main cast works in some delightfully deep-cut references. Martin Crane wants to be Sherlock Holmes, but Niles can’t find him the right costume—and where many shows would have gone with an obvious replacement detective like Hercule Poirot or Sam Spade, Niles tries to convince Martin to dress as Lord Peter Wimsey. Frasier and Daphne come as Geoffrey Chaucer and the Wife of Bath, respectively (and again, you can imagine a lesser show opting for Shakespeare and Lady Macbeth) and Frasier’s colleague Gil dresses as The Last of the Mohicans, but uses the character’s proper name, Chingachgook. Niles is Cyrano de Bergerac—a bit basic, but his choice speaks to his impossible love for Daphne. When Maris’ haircut leaves her bald, Niles suggests she come as the Ionesco play, The Bald Soprano. But maybe my favorite running gag of the night? Sports reporter Bulldog comes as Waldo (Y’know, from Where’s Waldo!) and neither of the Crane boys know who the hell that is. —Leah Schnelbach

    Community

Troy and Abed. In many ways, they set a new bar for how nerds could be portrayed on screen. Abed Nadir also crossed the important bridge of being a geek on the spectrum, rather than just your typical “nerd who is socially awkward” and therefore the butt of jokes. His friendship with Troy Barnes was full of the kind of references and in-humor that nerds always share, and their joint love of genre played out in their tendency to role play during the day, and create meta reference upon meta reference. They even introduced the world to Inspector Spacetime (the worlds greatest Doctor Who parody)! Troy was another incredibly nuanced portrayal, a jock and prom king in high school who couldn’t handle the pressure of everyone’s expectations. His abiding friendship with Abed forms so much of the the emotional core of Community, it’s heartbreaking to know that they eventually have to move on and live lives where they aren’t constantly in each other’s back pockets. And of course, Troy’s love of LeVar Burton has never been rivaled—seeing as everyone adores LeVar Burton, that’s a lot of love. —Emmet Asher-Perrin

    The Good Place

Full disclosure: Chidi Anagonye is my favorite character on TV. He might be my favorite character in any medium, ever. I once described the inner workings of my brain as “a dryer full of sneakers” and THE VERY NEXT DAY Chidi said, and I quote “You know the sound that a fork makes in the garbage disposal? That’s the sound that my brain makes all the time.” Chidi is a Nigerian/Senegalese ethics professor, and he is a wonderful giant punctilious nerd. He is, specifically, a nerd for philosophy, which leads to lines like: “There really is an afterlife. I can’t wait to have breakfast with Kant, and lunch with Michel Foucault, and then have dinner with Kant again so we can talk about what came up at breakfast!” and “My name is Kierkegaard and my writing is impeccable/Check out my teleological suspension of the ethical.”

Why is this so great? Chidi isn’t just dropping names—anyone can go on Wikipedia and spit out a couple philosophy references—but Chidi is deeply invested in his philosophical heroes. He gets excited when he discusses them, even as Eleanor, Jason, and Michael gently mock him. When he thinks he doesn’t have a soulmate, he looks on the bright side, saying: “My soul mate will be … books!” He can talk about John Rawls for two hours (Eleanor timed him), and he’s genuinely ecstatic when, after months of studying, Eleanor can casually reference Kant and John Dancy. In a certain way, The Good Place really is Chidi’s Good Place, because he gets to teach fairly reprehensible people (and demons) about his favorite topic, and watch his classes change the way they think… eventually. —Leah

    How I Met Your Mother

Ted’s third wheel Halloween costume, oof.

HIMYM has a bit of the self-hating nerd complex: the women are the ones to temper the guys’ references, like when Marshall makes a Lord of the Rings joke and Robin snarks, “Can you say that again but not in nerd?” Or when Ted’s relationship with Stella hinges on whether or not she likes Star Wars (though it did lead to her wonderfully infuriating imitation of Chewbacca followed by “That’s a good point, Bear!”) Presenting nerdery across such stark gender lines is one of the more problematic aspects of rewatching the sitcom (which premiered in 2005), especially when it could easily expand its definition: Robin’s love for scotch and cigars, or her excited babbling about Canadian hockey, easily puts her in the ranks of the nerds. Yet the show still has its sweet moments, like in the episode “Trilogy Time,” when Ted reflects on how his tradition of watching the original Star Wars trilogy with the guys every three years sees them at very different points in their lives each time—including, looking ahead three years, with his infant daughter. —Natalie

    Parks and Recreation

Everyone on Parks and Rec is some brand of nerd. Leslie is a political nerd, Tom is a swagger nerd, Andy is a music nerd, April is a weirdo goth nerd, Ron is a DIY nerd, Chris is a fitness nerd, Donna is… a perfect tastemaking queen who is a category unto herself. But the most traditional nerd of the bunch is Leslie’s husband, Ben Wyatt. This is the guy who, when he’s having a real spate of depression, is invited to Tom and Donna’s Treat-Yo-Self day; it’s one day each year where the duo go out and spend money on themselves however they’d like to—jewelry, expensive clothes, spa treatments, ridiculous food experiences—without thinking of the cost. And when they ask Ben what he would truly like to spend his money on, the answer turns out to be a film-replica Batman costume… which he sheds tears in. Accountants love Ben’s terrible puns, Leslie buys him the Iron Throne for his birthday, and he has strong opinions about the Kirk vs Picard fight, but his crowning nerd-chievement is designing The Cones of Dunshire, a tabletop game that goes on to become a national hit. In an outrageously complex plotline, he eventually manages to win free wifi for his city in a high stakes match when his opponents forget the essence of the game—it’s about the cones. Ben Wyatt is freaking king of the nerds in every lovable, unfathomable way that counts. —Emily

    Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Titus Andromedon is many things, but for the purposes of this list, he’s one of the best musical theater nerds this side of Glee. While he may have to fall back on playing a knock-off Iron Man or doing increasingly weird gigs for Jacqueline Voorhees, his heart belongs to the stage, as evidenced by his auditioning for The Lion King more than 20 times, utterly nailing the lead role in Dionne Warwick’s cruise ship revival of Mahogany, and trying his best as Spider-Man #12 in Spider-Man Too: 2 Many Spider-Men. —Leah

    Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Die Hard is not just Peralta’s favorite movie, it’s his life philosophy. He doesn’t know if his greater dream would be to meet John McClane in real life or to be him. (Who are we kidding—Jake can’t stop grinning during a Christmas Eve hostage situation.) Terry loves yogurt, and foreign films, and responsible agricultural practices, and the Skyfire Cycle epic fantasy series—so much so that he jumps at the chance to protect author DC Parlov from death threats, and of course he has to dress up to infiltrate a fantasy convention. Amy’s type-A obsession with a perfectly organized binder not only makes her endearing(ly neurotic), but it has actually helped save the day more than once. Much as the nine-nine pokes fun at each other’s quirks, it’s always with genuine affection rather than judgment. –Natalie

    Arrested Development

Every member of the Bluth family is also their own kind of nerd (theater nerd, magician nerd, business nerd), but George Michael Bluth is the only one of them to pretend to create a tech start-up for the sake of getting his father to move out of his dorm room. As tepid as much of Arrested Development’s season four turned out to be, one the most entertaining pieces of it was George Michael’s turn as the CEO of Fakeblock. Initially conceived as an app that would play woodblock sounds, George Michael’s dad misunderstands his explanation and thinks that he’s building anti-piracy software. This rapidly spirals out of control when George Michael’s cousin, Maeby, starts name-dropping the company to powerful people and makes it sound like he wiped out another tech startup named Schnoodle. George Michael tries again and again to explain the truth to people… but every time he somehow ends up doubling down on his software company that doesn’t exist. —Emily

    Scrubs

Not only are JD and Turk one of sitcoms’ sweetest bromances, but their dynamic is built on a series of eclectic shared interests: they wear matching Brady Bunch tiki necklaces, they spontaneously break into the Sanford & Son theme song, they share custody of a stuffed dog named Rowdy, who they talk to as if he’s alive. On top of that, there’s JD’s penchant for elaborate daydreams that reimagine the hospital as Star Wars with JD as Luke and Turk as Han, obviously; West Side Story with he and Turk as star-crossed lovers; Turk as Indiana Jones… we’re sensing a theme here. —Natalie

    30 Rock

Criss referring to Liz as Khaleesi. Kenneth seeing everyone as Muppets. Jack and Liz’s Batman/Joker rooftop showdown. Liz getting married in her Princess Leia dress—it’s white! But more importantly, it’s a character she always identified with. Almost every 30 Rock character had their geeky moment in the sun—and here’s all of them! —Natalie

    Randall
    (Sterling K. Brown)
    This Is Us, NBC
For anyone who wants to debate whether or not Randall is a nerd, let’s examine his backstory. His parents had to enroll him in a special private school for smart kids, he once suffered from stress-induced blindness, he embarrasses his wife and daughters with his public singing and he delights in corny holiday traditions. Yup. He’s a nerd. Chidi
    (William Jackson Harper)
    The Good Place, NBC
Before he died, Chidi was an ethics and morals philosophy professor and apparently, an insufferably verbose author. But what makes Chidi so loveable aside from his black-rimmed glasses and his undeniable resemblance to a young Samuel L. Jackson is his ability to use his intellect to bring out the best in people. Dr. Miranda Bailey
    (Chandra Wilson)
    Grey’s Anatomy, ABC
Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital would be lost without the professionalism, wisdom, and knowledge possessed by Dr. Bailey. Does she know it? Of course she does. The medical soap has been on the air for 13 seasons. But Bailey can also be as compassionate as she is brilliant. Steve Urkel
    (Jaleel White)
    Family Matters, ABC
There are those who will tell you that Urkel ruined Family Matters (ahem, eclipsed star Reginald VelJohnson). But for a whole generation of black bookworms, the bespectacled polyglot represented a fresh take on nerds of color for nine seasons until 1998. Rufus
    (Malcolm Barrett)
    Timeless, NBC
It’s hard to decide what is cooler, the fact that Rufus is defying stereotypes as a black intellectual with an actual libido or the fact that he’s time traveling. His interaction with black Civil War veterans was particularly inspiring – even if he is secretly double crossing Lucy (Abigail Spencer) and Wyatt (Matt Lanter). Bernard/Arnold
    (Jeffrey Wright)
    Westworld, HBO
Even before the writers and producers blew our minds with Bernard’s true identity and purpose, it was easy to see just how truly erudite this robotic scientist is. But is it possible to be too smart for one’s own good? We’ll find out. Noah
    (Tyler James Williams)
    The Walking Dead, AMC
Just before that ravenous cluster of zombies turned Noah into trail mix, Noah showed an aptitude for architecture and history. He was a learner, not a fighter. Maybe that’s why the Walkers enjoyed his big brain so much. Troy
    (Donald Glover)
    Community, NBC
Just as he does in real life, Glover plays roles that make fans question the definition of nerdiness because he’s so cool. But the pillow-and-blanket forts he and his bestie Abed (Danny Pudi) built and their Meta obsessions scream dork at the very least. Earn
    (Donald Glover)
    Atlanta, FX
Glover’s character on Atlanta is a Princeton dropout turned rap manager — who definitely would be fired up about Glover being cast as Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo Star Wars prequel. Molly
    (Yvonne Orji)
    Insecure, HBO
Molly’s hair and makeup game suggest that she’s a Glamazon. But when walks her dog rocking a sweatshirt and glasses and bonds over the pressures of being the only black lawyer in her firm, it’s clear that Molly is a Poindexter in cigarette pants. Mia Dickerson
    (Aisha Tyler)
    CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CBS
Aisha Tyler is a proud Dartmouth alum so it only makes sense that she’s so believable as a brainiac. As a recurring player on CSI, her season 5 character proved to be a studious and helpful DNA lab tech. Wes
    (Alfred Enoch)
How To Get Away with Murder, ABC
In a perfect world, Wes would’ve been too smart to commit murder and (SPOILER!) become a victim of it, but that’s the reality of HTGAWM. No one is safe except lawyer Annalise Keating (Emmy-winning star Viola Davis). Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele
    Key & Peele, Comedy Central
Comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele rose to fame with a brilliant impersonation of President Obama and Luther, his anger translator. The need for such a sketch proves that in order to successfully parody a black nerd, you have to be one. Maurice
    (Richard Ayoade)
The IT Crowd, Channel 4 and NBC
Maurice is awkward in so many awesome ways. If there were a way to make friends by espousing technical jargon about electronic engineering and chemistry, Maurice would’ve been the most popular bloke at work on this British sitcom. But nah. Freddie Brooks
    (Cree Summer)
    A Different World, NBC
Don’t let her quirky ways, bad taste in men and wild hair fool you. Once Freddie focused on hers studies this awkward free spirit was unstoppable and went on to law school. Andre “Junior” Johnson
    (Marcus Scribner)
    Black-ish, ABC
In a recent episode, Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) was heartbroken when Junior brought home his white girlfriend. She thought it was an affront to her as a black mother. But everyone else in the family was just happy the nerdy, Dothraki-speaking weirdo had found someone who could love him back.

    Nerdy Glasses

Setting Trends in Men’s Nerd Glasses

Is anybody else thrilled that geek-chic fashion is totally in style? It means we get to wear geeky glasses, and we’re not mad about that. Vint & York’s highly rated collection of nerdy glasses for men proves that nerdy is cool, no matter how you frame it. There’s a pair for every face shape and flavor of geek in this amazing array of exclusive, designer frames. With these boutique-inspired nerdy glasses, men of all personalities can showcase their high-fashion side. What makes a pair of glasses nerdy, you ask? It’s all about the silhouette. One of our very favorite nerdy shapes is the square or rectangular frame with a top bar. These classic 1980s-inspired frames harken back to the golden age of the nerd (think: Harold Wormser from “Revenge of the Nerds”) and look especially great when done in a slim, metal frame. If you’re a retro-loving nerd, go for a pair inspired by Buddy Holly or Malcolm X.

High-Quality Nerdy Glasses Tailored To You

Our geek-chic glasses aren’t just about good looks; we can have whatever pair you like fitted with your prescription, progressive or non-RX lenses. Every pair of prescription lenses from Vint & York is made by skilled professionals in our in-house lab, with high-quality materials featuring an anti-scratch, anti-reflective coating. They’re also finished with a layer of UV protection, so they help safeguard your eyes when exposed to damaging UV rays.
Not sure which style to buy? Take a look in the mirror (or your computer screen) and try a few pairs on using our virtual try-on system.
