Reddit walked in on cheating

I JUST caught my [33F] wife of 6 years cheating on me [34M] and we have a toddler

I cannot believe this. I JUST found evidence on my wife’s phone that she’s been cheating on me with her co-worker (for at least a month – probably longer). She has grown a lot closer to him in the last 2-3 years, and closer of late (they went out Saturday together). Although I questioned their relationship (and so did HIS GF), she always MAINTAINED that it was plutonic and they were just good friends. I’m so fucking naive.

So I was going through her pictures on her phone looking for some recent vacation pictures of our (almost) 3 year old daughter, and THERE THEY WERE 3 VERY incriminating pictures that she forgot to delete. One of which was a picture of said co-worker IN MY BED, ON MY SIDE OF THE BED. There’s also a selfie/sext from co-worker on March 26th, so I don’t even know how long this has truly been going on!!

I’m heartbroken, I thought I was going to be with this woman for the rest of my life. Over the last year or so her sex drive has all but disappeared. We had sex ONCE this year (r/DeadBedrooms was visited on more than one occasion). I’ve addressed it, we’ve TALKED about it, and she keeps coming to the conclusion that she’s not sexual – and she dropped a big “she does NOT find me sexually attractive” on me about 3 weeks ago (AFTER the events on her phone mind you). We were going to see a marriage counselor next week to try and work on this aspect of our relationship, as everything else was seemingly fine.

I think my marriage is over, my trust is completely broken with this woman. We have a beautiful ~3 year old, and now I’m imagining a life where I only get to see 50% of my child. I am physically shaking as I’m writing this as I cannot fathom being away from my daughter or her not having her mommy and daddy.

I am completely lost right now. We own a house, cars, have events planned for months out, we’re both very close with each others family…..my whole life is crashing down and I’m really scared and I really really need some advice from r/relationships. What do I do?

I’m sorry for the wall of text, and if this sounds like a rant and disjointed, but my mind is racing right now and I don’t know where to start.

I’m located in Ontario, Canada if that matters at all.

7 Unbelievable Reddit Stories About People Getting Caught Cheating

We all know some who has cheated or been cheated on. It’s an unfortunate fact of relationships and adult life.

The real drama is not in the act of cheating itself, but in the cheater getting busted. We’ve all heard wild tales about adulterous lotharios being exposed with their pants down, or naughty mistresses being caught in the act.

The most scandalous and fist-bitingly awkward cheating stories known to man

It’s tragic, of course, because someone always gets hurt, especially when there are families, jobs, and strong emotions at stake. But it’s one of those things that us rubberneckers (and that means all of us) can’t but have a perverse fascination over.

As you’d imagine, the always-intriguing users of Reddit have tons to say on the topic, with some of the most scandalous and fist-bitingly awkward cheating stories known to man.

1. You’ve been caught. Drink it in.

We know the standard way someone gets caught cheating: a raunchy text sent to the wife’s phone by mistake; being spotted by a friend smooching with the wrong person; or coming home early to surprise your girlfriend/find her in bed with your best friend. We’ve all been there (well, some of us have).

I confronted her and she changed her story five times

But have you ever heard of someone being caught cheating because of the unlikeliest of clues, a water bottle? Redditor gwoz8881 recalls how his fiancée’s water bottle become a smoking gun when she stayed out one night and wouldn’t answer her phone.

“She comes stumbling home at 7am,” he says, “hungover and without the water bottle she always had on her.” Sounds innocent enough so far, right? No, not exactly.

“Flash forward a year or so and I grab lunch with an old female friend from high school. She told me she found out her boyfriend was cheating on her because she found this pink water bottle under his bed and confronted him about it.

“Turns out it was the same water bottle that my now fiancé had… I confronted her and she changed her story at least five times.”

Unfortunately for gwoz8881, this whole thing was just too bitter to swallow. “Enough was enough and I couldn’t be with a lying cheater,” he says. “She never fully came clean about it.”

2. For this guy, the worst business meeting of all time. For everyone else, undoubtedly the best.

Finding out that you’ve been cheated on can be a humiliating experience. But finding out as a roomful of people watch the horror unfold – or even worse, a meeting room full of work colleagues – is the kind of excruciating experience from which you’d never quite recover. Reddit user dmukai shared once such horror story about a co-worker.

We were watching his wife and another guy… nobody said anything

“He loaded an SD card with a scanned project file on it,” our man recalls. “He put it into the conference room PC and we were treated to naked pics of his wife with another guy. We were just stunned. This was in a senior budgetary meeting with the outside accountants and auditors.

“He was sitting right there and we were looking at his wife and another guy going at it. I reached over and shut the projector off. nobody said anything.”

As painful as it may be, put yourself in this poor guy’s shoes for a moment: how would you react? Get straight on the phone with your wife for a nuclear-level argument? Smash the office up? Or leap out of the 9th floor window?

“He got up, walked out, drove off and left his phone and laptop sitting on the table,” says dmukai. “He wound up driving to his parents’ house three states away. He was gone for a week.”

3. Going with a pro.

It takes a certain mentality to want to be an adult actor. It takes something else altogether to make a half-assed audition tape with a hooker and GoPro camera. And all behind your wife’s back.

I was enraged… but him acting like a porn star was hilarious

“One day my husband was getting ready for work and I saw him packing his GoPro case,” says throwaway98653210. “I thought, ‘Hmmm that’s weird, why would he be taking it to work?’”

Some people would just leave it there, living by the mantra that ignorance is indeed bliss. But not this gal.

“When he jumped into the shower, I replaced his GoPro with mine and thought I’d look through the files when he leaves for work. My suspicions were on alert because he had just taken a trip to the Philippines with some friends. A ‘guy’s only’ weekend kind of thing.

“I fire up the camera and found three videos…. there he is in all his glory with a Filipino prostitute, posing for the camera like he’s some porn star. I was enraged but also looking at this fool acting like he’s an adult film star was hilarious.”

4. A heartfelt message from Iraq for his family. Well, one of his families.

This account from Redditor drtatlass about a husband who gets well and truly busted – thanks to the magic of television – is beyond belief, It’s the story of a family man who was deployed to Iraq in the early 2000s, leaving behind his wife and 10-year-old son. The truth unraveled when the wife’s friend saw something truly surreal on TV.

I had to sit her down and tell her what we saw

“I’m watching a human interest story about some fundraiser at a high school 30 miles away,” says drtatlass. “They’re doing Relay for Life or something, and as a surprise to one of the participants, they had her husband – and father of her two grade school children – do a video call from Iraq, displayed on the football jumbo-tron.”

You guessed it – it was the same husband, living a double life with two different families. There he was, telling this other woman and kids how much he loved them and couldn’t wait to get back from Iraq to see them.

“The next day I had to sit her down and tell my friend what we saw,” they say. “She called the news station and they were happy to let her come in and watch the story. They were also incredibly apologetic.”

5. This desktop screen couldn’t save their relationship.

If you are going to be stupid enough to save a video of yourself with another woman to your girlfriend’s computer, you have to expect to suffer the consequences of the most brilliantly passive-aggressive revenge ever.

“I took a screenshot and put it as the desktop background pic,” says Mon_kee1. “He came in, went to use the computer, saw the background pic, looked at me, started collecting his s**t, and left. I honestly don’t remember if we even spoke that day.”

6. A Facebook prank gone very, very wrong.

If you play about with each other’s Facebook passwords, things are bound to get messy (someone’s social media privacy is, after all, the modern-day version of a diary under lock and key).

But in this case, Smitity must be glad he did play around with his buddy’s password, or he might still be shacked up with a cheater.

They were messaging about how good the sex was

“I had a really close group of friends who would always prank each other,” he says. “One of my mates found out the Facebook password of another, so while on Skype, the whole call – 7 people, including myself – logged into his Facebook account to make a stupid status.

“At the same time, my partner of five years was messaging him on Facebook about how good sex was last night and meeting up again.”

7. This is what it’s like to be the ‘other guy’.

While most cheating stories center on a wrong boyfriend or girlfriend, there’s a flip side to that coin: the man or woman who discovers, through no devious machinations of their own, that they are the “other person”.

Redditor Skkorm recounts how he started sleeping with a girl he met at the drugstore. But her deception was revealed when she (rather stupidly) took him to her favorite bar.

According to Facebook, they’re still married

“We spend the night dancing together, drinking, and talking to people she knows,” he says. “Eventually a guy comes up to me, saying, ‘Great to meet you finally! Congratulations on the engagement!’

“‘What are you talking about?!’, I replied, laughing as I choked on my drink a bit.

“‘You’re here with Corrie. It’s Paul, right!?’ I raised an eyebrow and pointed a thumb to my chest, stating, ‘Nah man, name’s Kyle.’ We stared at each other, watching each other realize what was playing out.”

iStock/skynesher

It didn’t take long for our man to find out the truth. “Corrie was engaged to a guy named Paul. I was the other guy. Paul worked out of town for weeks at a time… It was actually interesting, how word traveled around the small bar, drastically changing the vibe in the room.”

At least Skkorm AKA Kyle was a stand-up dude and broke it off instead of pursuing an affair. “Messed up stuff. Didn’t see her again after that. According to Facebook, Paul and Corrie are currently married.”

‘I found out my wife was cheating on me when I saw her confessions online’

Jeff* was suspicious of his wife for a long time. She avoided having sex with him and blamed his attempts to nurture their relationship as ‘needy’ and accused him of mood swings.

He felt she stripped him of confidence and began to feel less and less like she was being honest in the relationship.

Yet in an attempt to make things better, he sought therapy. Slowly day by day his confidence grew and he realised that she was gas lighting him.

“She confessed she was cheating on him”

He trusted his instincts that she might be unfaithful and while she was at a salsa class, Jeff* uncovered his wife’s laptop and saw that she had been using Reddit.

He thought that perhaps she was on the group to ask for help, but instead she was confessing to all the times she had cheated on her husband.

“I checked her accounts and found multiple confessions. My heart was racing. I didn’t want to believe it. I quietly moved half of our savings into my bank account. Then I called her and said that it was over,” he wrote on Reddit.

“She tried to gaslight me one more time and then finished with “it was nothing.” She came back home one last time only to get her computer. To save her reputation. I undeleted her posts. I keep reading them.”

“I’m grieving, but I’m excited about falling in love again, in time,” he added.

“My story is the same”

Users rushed to sympathise Jeff* and one even said the exact same thing happened to them.

it still astounds me how similar people’s stories are. My ex withheld intimacy for years too and I was told it was because I needed to treat him better and that I had mood swings. Any concern I brought up was dismissed,” they said.

“I too was always told I was the issue. I went to therapy by myself because he would not go. No improvement I made helped our relationship. After he left, I continued therapy. I’ve changed major parts of my life and respond to many issues differently now. And now I am belittled for be “enlightened “. It’s exhausting.”

“My husband is having an affair too”

Others shared that they had recently discovered their partners had been unfaithful.

“I just found out my husband was having an online affair with a woman in Canada. I saw texts that said he would send her pics when he got his passport as well as proof he’d been looking at flights to visit her,” the user detailed.

“He is in rehab now, but he refused sex with me for six months. He claimed he had no sex drive due to the new meds he was on. I’ve recently discovered he was looking at porn as well as sexting with this woman,” they added.

Head On Collision Cheating Stories From Reddit

One thing is to be cheated on, it can be absolutely devastating to a person on so many levels, but it’s a completely different beast when you catch your significant other cheating on you. And that’s what we have here, a bunch of cheating stories from Reddit about people who walked into their partners cheating on them. These events can scar people more than first kiss horror stories.

Some of these cheating stories were such close encounters that they could be categorized as crazy sex stories, depending on the point of view. You’ll find all types of cheating stories in here – cheating in a relationship, cheating in a marriage, cheating women, and cheating men. All of them had the awkwardly awful moment of catching someone red handed.

Cheating Stories

Cheating Story #1

I walked in early from work. My door was locked. It’s never locked. So I super stealth mode opened the door and found her and my roommate in bed together. I simply had her move her shit from my room to his. I hooked up with one of her friends like a week later and she was pissed. They both moved out at the end of the month. She tried to break in after I went on deployment, but didn’t know that I found a new roommate. He pulled a sword on her, it was epic.

As for where she ended up, my ex and the ex-roommate ended up getting married. She had stolen my Gameboy and given it to him. He got caught playing it while on watch and got demoted and put on ship restriction for 45 days and they took half his pay for that time as well. Not long after this they ended up getting divorced. Karma came around for both of them and I couldn’t be happier with the eventual outcome.

Cheating Story #2

One of my co-workers ran into her then-boyfriend’s house to get her phone charger before work. She walked into his bedroom and found him in bed with another woman. She then took a picture of them in bed, and SENT IT TO HIS MOTHER. She let the mother take care of it.

Cheating Story #3

I was dating my neighbor, and his door was 10 feet away from my front door. One night I had some friends over and he went out with his friends. We had some Nerf guns at my apartment and my guy friend shot me in the eye and scratched my cornea. It was so painful. I didn’t know what to do, it was pretty late at night and I had been drinking so I decided the best thing to do was just take some allergy medicine and fall into a Benadryl coma. I woke up the next morning and was in so much pain. I couldn’t open my eye, and crying made it burn which made me cry more. So, I ran over to my boyfriends apartment, let myself in (we had copies of each other’s keys) and as I was going up the stairs to his room I kept thinking “hm, women’s shoes! How weird.” And “I wonder whose pants those are!” But I was so set on having him drive me to the emergency room or something so I just busted into his room and there he was, in bed with his best girl friend. They hadn’t heard me come in, so I just stood there for an uncomfortably long time.

I ended up slamming the door behind me, running back to my apartment and was so upset with everything that I sat on my floor of my bedroom and had a full fledge melt down. I was unconsciously hitting the floor so hard with my hands that my knuckles were raw and bruised. My roommate eventually came in and dragged me to the ER were I was then told I had an infection in my eye and had to get it flushed out.

Cheating Story #4

Not my cheating story, but one of the managers where I worked in college was seriously the nicest guy I’ve ever met. He was pretty religious, but not in a douchey way. He would give you the shirt off his back. He had been married before and they divorced amicably and had just recently remarried. Apparently the new wife got along fairly well with the old wife (they all went to the same church) and they began spending time together. He thought it was great because there were kids involved and this made things substantially easier that they weren’t fighting and could coparent easily.

One day he was a no-call no-show to work. We were all really worried because that was so not like him. It turns out he left the house, went to the gym, was on his way into work when he realized he forgot something so he swung back by the house to pick it up. He found his ex-wife and new wife getting it on in the bedroom.

Cheating Story #5

A few years ago a female friend of mine walked in on her husband having sex with another woman. she posted it on facebook, then shot her husband, then herself. i had commented jokingly on her facebook page “did you cut his balls off?” — i later had several newspapers call me to talk about the story.

Finding out that you’re being cheated on is one of the worst feelings in the world. It’s a huge betrayal by someone you trusted and someone who promised to be faithful.

This is the story told by a man on Reddit who was using a throwaway account, about how he found out that his wife of 8 years was cheating on him. He hired a private investigator and wrote updates as the story made twists and turns, keeping readers enthralled. His Reddit post went massively viral, with tons of people sending him messages of support.

Some people also seemed to think the story he was telling was fake, but that doesn’t really make sense. A person would have absolutely nothing to gain from that, and the man who posted the thread honestly sounded pretty miserable.

He began by explaining that he and his wife had what he’d thought was a wonderful relationship:

My wife is cheating on me as evidenced by filthy text messages, I know but she doesn’t know that I do. My sister in law might be in on it too. Where do I go from here?
My wife (Jenny) and I have been married for 8 years. We met when we were 22 and we had both just graduated from university. It’s been great so far, we haven’t had a huge argument where we’ve had to separate for a period of time or anything like that. Also, we have given each other our passwords to our phones and personal emails.

Jenny was sleeping this morning and my brother shot her a text. My brother’s wife (Carly) and Jenny are planning on going out of town for a get-away while my brother, I, and some friends are going to watch football on Sunday and hang out during the weekend. He was asking Jenny to text Carly on his phone because Carly dropped her phone in the toilet. My brother and Carly were basically sharing phones for the time being till she gets a new phone.

I decided to open up the phone and reply something stupid and funny in order to embarrass Jenny. So I opened up the iMessage app and went to read their previous conversation to see what was happening, so I could tell a relevant joke. 2nd to the top of the list of conversations was a chat with a guy/girl named Zack. I didn’t know who Zack was, but the most recent thing he sent her was “<3 gn”. I was curious, so I put off replying to my brother and opened up Jenny and Zack’s chat.

To my horror, there was sexually explicit talk of what he wanted to do to Jenny when she “crawled up next to his sack.” What a filthy beast. I scroll up, and there are multiple nudes from both of them waiting for me to discover. Most of them are dated sometime between 1-4am (usually I’m sleeping then, smart.) so I knew she was obviously trying to hide it from me.

At that very minute, he realized that his entire marriage was over.

I realized my wife is cheating on me. I took a moment to realize that this was the end of our marriage. All of our happy times, our foreign trips, and our romantic nights must have meant nothing to her. I put the phone down and went to the bathroom to freshen up while Jenny was still sleeping.

I carry on with my day, make breakfast and wake her up. While she was sleeping, her phone went off 7 times (yes, I counted) and they were good morning texts from Zack and a confirmation to see if she was still visiting him this weekend.

She went to the bathroom and I heard her phone vibrate loudly since it was placed on the bathroom countertop. I heard the sounds of typing, and the send button. This happened 3 times while she was in there. As she was coming out, I quickly went downstairs to pretend like I was doing nothing out of the ordinary. We eat, she goes to take a shower and I try to open up her phone.

Jenny changed her phone password. I must have been acting a little weird/distant, or she thought it was time to secure her phone since we’ve been so comfortable around each other for the past few years. I tried to open up her Facebook and email, but the passwords to those were changed as well.

Okay, yes, stealing her phone is bad, but what she was doing was way worse.

Jenny has gone out with some “friends” tonight. She thinks she lost her phone. Nope, I stole it before she left so I could try and break into it. I went through a massive hassle to unlock her phone but I finally did it. She’s cheating on me. They talk about sex positions they want to try, how far Zack can shove his cock down her throat, and one short conversation about meeting up this weekend. My bitch sister in law Carly must be in on this.

I’ve erased all trace of me breaking into her phone. I don’t know what to do now. Jenny is cheating on me but we’ve had no major problems in the time we’ve been together. We still have sex 4-5 times a week and I make her cum a couple times during each session; we still go out on dates and cuddle sometimes when we’re home. I don’t get it. She’s on birth control since I told her we should wait a little bit before we have kids thank god.

We’re both fit and still attractive I guess so it isn’t about looks. I have a bigger penis than the other guy if that’s what she desires. I don’t mean to compare it’s just primal instinct fighting over a mate.

He wasn’t sure if he should tell her what he’d found out, or keep it secret to spring on her later, once he’d gathered more evidence.

Should I tell her I know? Should we split and file divorce right away? Should I tell my brother Carly is in on this? Get revenge? I’ve got a prenup in place with a cheating clause since I make much much more than her (212k-30k) thankfully so I won’t be getting shafted. I’m thinking on finding out more about the situation (tail gating when she travels?) and then coming to a conclusion, since Carly might not even know about this. I’m not even sure if they’re actually leaving town or she just wants to spend time with him. Sorry if I’m rambling and I don’t make much sense, I’m just really pissed. Goddammit I loved her :/

I have screenshotted the texts and emailed them to myself. I feel like someone has shot me in the stomach.

By popular request I will post an update with the bigger changes and results of the PI investigation on r/relationships. Sometime after the weekend (Late Sunday or Monday/Tuesday). I will link it in an edit here so save the post or check my profile on Monday and Tuesday.

Thank you all so much for the supportive comments, it means a lot to me. It’s a struggle keeping a straight face around her, but I’m fighting through it for this last week.

Loyalty is everything in a relationship. But why then, in over 40% of marriages, do one or both partners admit to cheating? And that doesn’t include relationships where betrayal is caught redhanded — or uncovered after months of meticulously piecing together the warning signs.

The sad truth is that it happens more than we want to admit. So when Reddit user MDGiov started a thread with the question, “How did you find out your S.O. was cheating?” people couldn’t wait to share their own outrageous accounts.

Whether they found out about the infidelity in person or through their partner’s phone calls, Facebook messages and/or shady dating app downloads (gotta love technology), these Reddit users weren’t afraid to post (and vent) all about it:

The Phone Call

“We were engaged, I had miscarried two weeks earlier, as he was driving me to the bus station so I could get a bus home (moved to a different city for him) the girl called to say she was almost done moving her stuff in and could she just toss what he didn’t give me time to pack.” – Kzinkitten

The Toilet Seat

“Came home from working a double shift and found the toilet seat up. Either my wife didn’t for 20 hours straight or there had been another man in my house. We divorced shortly after…” – signalthree

The Doppelganger

“She had a number of alternate Facebook pages under pseudonyms. One day, one of them showed up on my ‘suggested friends,’ and I said, ‘Hey, this girl looks a lot like .’ So, I looked at it. Sure enough, it was her, and she had an active relationship going on with someone else. I later found two more of these pages.” – PrimeEchoes

The Wedding

“His mistress told me at the wedding of a mutual friend, so that was nice.” -flowerbright

The Dirty Browser

“I was home recovering from two major back surgeries and one afternoon while taking a nap with our daughter, I got up and walked in the office to see what he was doing. He minimized his browser and jumped, so I knew something was up. I reopened his browser, and it was websites for cheating spouses…” – ragekage82

The Two “Friends”

“She introduced us to each other one day referring to both of us as her ‘friends,’ which made us both suspicious … cue Facebook conversation to clarify our supposed relationships with her. For someone who had multiple business degrees, she wasn’t very smart.” – garoo1

The (Possibly) Unnecessary Pill

“Found her birth control pills. I had a vasectomy right after our second child was born. Sure, there’s other reasons to be on the pill, which would have been believable if she had .” – boxingdude

The Awkward Airport

“A girl I know married this guy from her home town (in the UK). He took a job in Canada and they moved out into the middle-of-nowhere Canada. She had two kids over three years. Then she found out her dad was dying, so she flew back to the UK and stayed there for a few months. Got back to Canada the same week her dad passed and got greeted at the airport by and his mistress!” – BoonSolo

The Blunt Response

“She told me her husband was getting out of jail soon.” – pedrobeara

The Worst Mail Ever

“I received a letter in the mail from a college I never went to. Weird. Inside, I found the entire texting history between my now ex-husband and his lover. I have determined that the sender was most likely the lover herself or her scorned husband (local police officer). Added bonus: At the time, I was seven months pregnant.” – redefine_happy
