Although Americans have less of an advantage when using UK’s eBay, the prices here are beginning to spike as Polly Pocket owners grasp the value of their products. So far, Polly Pocket collectibles are being sold for upwards of $800 in the US.

As you may expect, the older and better condition the product is, the more it is worth. Here is a friendly tip: If you own a Polly Pocket from Bluebird Toys—the original seller of the item—you may be entitled to a small fortune.

If you are anything like us, all you have to show for your Polly Pocket years are the memories. Try not to beat yourself up over the fact that you could have profited big time over these toys. If anyone would have told a young me how much my Polly Pockets would be worth one day—as long as I didn’t play with them—that still wouldn’t have stopped me from ripping open the box.

IF you grew up in the eighties, nineties or noughties, the chances are you or your sister will have owned a Polly Pocket.

Now, the miniature dolls sets are fetching more than £1400 on eBay so it might be time to dig out your old toys because they could be worth a fortune.

13 You old Polly Pocket sets could be worth a small fortune to collectors

The tiny dolls that bent in the middle came in pocket-sized cases that doubled up as a house for the toys to live in.

The original Bluebird Toy dolls stood less than an inch tall and the different shaped playsets – like pencil cases, pendants and heart shaped – make them collectables.

Now, collectors are paying big money to get their hands on them, with ones listed on eBay attracting bidders from all over the world.

It’s time to check your old toy boxes – these are the ones to look out for:

Disney Alice in Wonderland and Little Mermaid set, 1996 – £1,421.29

A pair of unopened Disney inspired Polly Pocket playsets recently fetched AU $2,450, the equivalent of £1,421.29.

The Alice in Wonderland and Little Mermaid sets were in their original packaging and described by the seller as in “great condition” and with “minor shelf wear”.

They were originally released separately in 1996, which makes them vintage toys as they’re more than 20 years old. This adds value in the eyes of a collector.

Polly Pocket Birthday Surprise, 1994 – £870

This playset was made in 1994 during the Bluebird era and is still in it’s original packaging.

It comes in a round compress powder shaped case and two miniature dolls – Polly and her pal Daria.

It sold on eBay for AU £1500 dollars which is the same as around £870.

What should you do if you have a valuable Polly Pocket?

IF you think you’ve got a Polly Pocket that’s worth a bit extra then you should start by doing your research

Find out how much your toy is worth to a collector by checking the same or similar Polly Pockets under “sold listings”.

Compare your Polly Pocket to other higher selling auctions and ask yourself if it’s in a similar condition? Is your toy authentic? Does it still have the labels on? Is it still in it’s original packaging?

If it’s in mint condition then it might be worth selling it through an auction house or directly to a collectables website. If it’s not, it’s probably worth sticking it on eBay for a moderate sum.

Polly Pocket Jewel Magic Ball, 1996 – £755

This spectacular Polly Pocket set came with four rooms inside a crystal ball shaped globe. There was a tree house, a pond, Polly’s bedroom and a treasure room.

It was in it’s original packaging but the seller did point out that there were two tears and a crack in the box.

Even so, the set is now classed as a vintage and sold for £754.16 back in October.

Polly Pocket Jewel Case, 1997 – £696

13 The jewellery box shaped play set came is in good condition but not perfectCredit: EBay 13 The toy set fetched AU $1200 which is around £696 from a bidder in AustraliaCredit: eBay

This set was first sold in 1997 making it just over 20 years old and is typically regarded as a vintage.

The jewellery box style case had a secret compartment where you could hide your tiny treasures.

This wasn’t sold in the original packaging but was a complete set. So if you’ve got one lurking in the attic, now might be the time to dig it out.

Bundle of Polly Pockets – £720.74

13 The seller didn’t describe all the sets that were included in the bundle but you can make out some of themCredit: EBay 13 Even though the sets were used they sold for more than £720 on eBayCredit: eBay

Of course toys that are in mint condition and in original packaging will sell for more money but it looks like there’s still an appetite for used ones among collectors.

This bundle of goods was sold from a seller based in Suffolk in the UK who provided very little information about what was in the cling film wrapped bundle.

But if you look closely at the photo, you can vaguely make out some of them, including a Jewel Magic Ball, which is worth more than £700 on its own.

Even though they were described as “used” the collectables fetched more than £720 on eBay. Not bad for some used playthings.

Vintage Polly Pocket Collection, 90s – £522

A collection of sets from the 90s make most of them vintage items.

The seller from the UK described them as being in “excellent condition” even though they were used toys.

How to avoid the dangers of selling your Polly Pocket on eBay

SELLING things on eBay can be a big money earner – when you’re doing it right. Here are the dangers you need to avoid if you want to make a profit:

  • You need to set a minimum price on your auction. It needs to be higher or at least value to what you’re selling, otherwise it could be bought for less than it’s worth. This is exactly what happened when someone sold a new £10 note for less than a tenner.
  • Even if your item sells, there’s no guarantee the buyer will cough up. When you set up the auction you can opt for the highest bidder to pay straight away.
  • Don’t forget that eBay will charge you a sellers fee if you sell your item. If you’re selling up to 50 items a month – and you’re not a business – you’ll be charged 10 per cent of the sale. Take this into consideration when you’re listing your item.

Were you a fan of Polly Pocket as a kid? I sure was. My sister and I both owned a few of the tiny plastic doll sets, which were sort of like a combination of a dollhouse and carry-all. The name, of course, came from the idea that the toys were small enough to fit in your pocket. Although my days of playing with those beloved ’90s toys are long past, that doesn’t mean they’re obsolete. In fact, Polly Pockets are a hugely popular collector’s item—some are even fetching prices in the hundreds of dollars on eBay and other resale sites.

Yes, you read that correctly. Your tiny old plastic plaything could be worth hundreds of dollars! A look through recently sold eBay listings of Polly Pockets shows an unopened 1989 set went for a whopping $499.99. An Alice in Wonderland set from 1996 sold for $267.65.

Lots (groups of more than one item, including more than one full set of Polly Pockets or a large group of dolls/accessories without the cases) seem to go for the most money. One recent lot sold on eBay for a truly mind-blowing $895.

Listings usually start in the $30 to $50 range, but can quickly get bid up as collectors make their bids. EBay actually has a written guide on how to buy the toys, so you should take a look at it if you’re interested in selling, too. According to Complex, the most valuable sets are the ones made before 1998 (when production went to Mattel from smaller toy company Bluebird).

How Much Is Polly Pocket Worth? We Found Out What 9 Polly Pocket Sets From Your Childhood Go For Today

She may have been an adorable doll, a reliable childhood friend, and the toy most likely to get stuck in that weird crevice in your car seat — but one thing that a Polly Pocket doll isn’t is a financial investment. Because —despite some recent articles that have claimed that Polly Pocket play sets are among the vintage ’90s toys selling for big bucks on eBay — Polly’s resale value may be more diminutive that previously reported. Our recent search of Polly Pocket dolls on eBay showed that, for the most part, the itty bitty doll is worth an itty bitty amount of money.

Not to throw any shade at Polly herself about it, though — the Polly Pocket doll, which originated in Germany and first hit U.S. shelves in 1989 courtesy of the Bluebird Toys company and Mattel, was one of the most popular toys of the ’90s. The doll and her friends eventually expanded into a mini-empire of videos, books, websites, and medium-sized dolls, too. But while we all have nostalgia for the tiny girl with the snap-on clothes, the facts are that you’re probably not gonna put your future kids through college by selling dear old Polly and her pals on eBay.

Which is not to say that Polly Pocket dolls won’t make you any bank; a few rare Polly sets were going for upwards of $100 today on eBay. But for the more common sets, the prices were notably lower (and none of them even approached many standard Beanie Baby prices).

The bright side of all this? If you’ve been wanting to buy all your childhood faves that your parents threw out when you left for college, you can scoop up some truly choice Polly Pocket stock right now for less than you’d spend on a weekend night out.

Now, can we finally talk about how her house kinda looks like a birth control pill container?

1. Polly’s Beach House (1989)

Part of the original line of toys, this gently-used play set depicting Polly and friends enjoying some downtime by the beach can be had right now for $21.

2. Polly’s Flat (1989)

Also part of the original line of Polly Pocket products, this set — which depicts Polly’s swinging bachelorette pad — can be had on eBay for a wide variety of prices, from $33 all the way down to $15.10. I know she’s a tiny plastic doll, but I kinda hate her for having such a nice terrace (yes, folks, this is what dealing with New York City real estate will do to you).

3. Water Fun Park (1990)

This set features a water slide that connects a water park to what appears to be the bathroom of a regular house — just like you always pictured in elementary school! It’s currently priced at $8.99, but with two days left on the auction, the price could conceivably jump. Doll-less versions of the set are selling for $9.99 to $19.99.

4. Camp Days Locket (1991)

This mint condition Camp Days Locket — a medium-sized necklace that opens into an outdoorsy play set — could be yours for $35. I mean, what were you even going to do with your next $35? You were going to spend it on hot wings and we both know it, OK? So why not spend it on this cute nostalgia collectible instead? If you wear it as a necklace, you can play with it and eat the hot wings at the same time.

5. Jeweled Sea (1992)

You could be taking Polly on deep sea adventures with this set, which is available in mint condition for only $32.80. Ooh, imagine if you made a video that was like The Life Aquatic, but with an all Pocket people cast? The internet would eat that up. What are you waiting for?!

6. Dazzling Dog Show (1993)

Remember when you were a little girl, and dreamed of growing up and having a cool apartment that was located inside a giant dog’s head? Well, this is as close as you’re ever gonna get — and at $15, that’s the cheapest combination apartment/ dog head on the market (and trust me, I’ve been looking!).

7. Babytime Fun (1994)

Now we’re finally getting into some stuff you can be pissed at your parents for throwing out. This set — which comes with two babies not much smaller than Polly herself, which really leaves you with a lot of big questions about the Pocket family in general — could have nabbed you a cool $44.95.

8. Glitter Island (1995)

How did this tiny doll get on this desert island with only a monkey for company? I have no idea, but she seems like she’s having a good time, so let’s not bother her, eh? If you hadn’t broken this by throwing it at your sister while you two were fighting about the Power Rangers in 1996, you could now be selling this island play set for a cool $49.99.

9. Sweet Treat Shoppe (1996)

Finally, a set to live up to the big money hype. This rare candy shop set will nab you $135 on the open market. I mean, I know you can’t put a price on your childhood…but if you were going to, these are some pretty good prices.

You Won’t Believe How Expensive Your Childhood Polly Pockets Are Now

No Millennial childhood was complete without Polly Pocket. The miniature dolls (and all their clothes) were always getting lost, but Polly was every girl’s best friend and SO convenient to take to every show-and-tell and doctor’s appointment because her houses were all portable! Plus they were preeeeetttyyy.

Because all good things must come to an end, Mattel bought the company in 1983 and redesigned Polly into something completely different from what we used to know. The result? Hundreds of people putting their vintage Polly Pockets up for sale on eBay. The sets you could once buy at Toys R Us for $10 are now selling for over $50, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but for a plastic little doll and her compact house, it’s aggressive.

Check out the most outrageous Polly Pocket set prices on eBay right now. Then buy all of them because you definitely still want to play with them, don’t lie.
