No7 protect and perfect foundation

If you’re looking to trim down your morning beauty routine, No7’s latest make-up launch needs to be firmly on your radar.

The team behind some of the bestselling skincare in the country has translated the science behind its Protect & Perfect range into a flawless foundation formula, meaning that it’s never been easier to make your skin look amazing in a matter of seconds.

Protect & Perfect is one of Boots No7’s most in-demand ranges, with one tube of serum reportedly leaving stores every two seconds. The new Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation is powered by that very same effective anti-wrinkle peptide technology – and is proving to be just as popular.

The benefits of using the foundation are two-fold – not only will the light-reflecting, flexible liquid minimise the appearance of lines instantly, but sustained, long-term application will bring about the same plumping, nourishing effects you’d expect from a standalone skincare product. It also includes SPF 50 and potent antioxidants to protect your skin from long-term UVA and UVB damage.

There are 14 shades in the range, and each tube is priced at £17 for 30ml; a moderate cost compared with premium products on the market, which often retail for upwards of £30 per bottle. Plus, according to customers who’ve already given the launch a try, it’s worth every penny.

Every reviewer on the Boots website so far has given the foundation five stars, with one writing: ‘I used this foundation for the first time today and am so pleased with it. It was very easy to apply and gave my skin a lovely dewy effect- it didn’t collect in the wrinkles either. My creamy blusher sat very nicely on top too. I’m used to using an expensive brand but this is so much better!’

‘I brought this today and immediately noticed how great it made my ageing skin look,’ another agreed. ‘I am always sceptical when a product makes so many claims but in this case they appear to be true! Well done No7!’

No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation, £17, Boots

The glowing – in every sense of the word – reviews have certainly have an impact, as the brand has confirmed to that one tube is already leaving stores every 13 seconds.

And with a number of No7 offers running right now, including 3 for 2 on skincare and cosmetics and extra savings when you spend a certain amount, there’s never been a better time to put it to the test yourself.

I was desperately in need of a new foundation so popped into Boots for a top-up of my current favourite drugstore foundation; my trusty L’Oreal True Match. As much as the new Urban Deacy, Charlotte Tilbury and ABH foundations are calling my name, I decided to opt for something a little more affordable what with Poppy’s birthday only a week away. I came across the new No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation on a total whim. I’m a huge fan of their makeup, I think it’s incredibly underrated and not talked about nearly enough. Unfortunately, due to being a complete idiot and reading the ticket wrong, I originally thought this foundation was only £9, but it’s actually £17. Thank god I had enough leftover from payday to avoid mega embarrassment at the till.

It usually takes me a long time to figure out whether a foundation works for me or not. I had a disaster with the Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation and had to spend weeks switching between primers, setting sprays, powders, brushes and sponges to try and desperately make it work, only to come to the conclusion that it’s not for me. From the moment I applied the No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation, I knew this was a match made in heaven. Quite frankly, I love it and, thankfully, it’s worth every penny.

We’re all aware of the huge success of No7’s Protect & Perfect Serum, well this foundation contains the same anti-wrinkle peptide technology as well as SPF 50…

• MATRIXYL 3000 PLUS™ – advanced anti-ageing peptides combined with pro-vitamin A to help restore a more youthful appearance to the skin
• Vitamins E & C – help block free radicals and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pigmentation on the skin
• Anti-oxidant complex – with powerful skin protecting ginseng root extract and morus alba (mulberry) leaf extract
• A humectant formula that acts like a sponge pulling in water to the outer skin layer and slows down evaporation, leaving skin hydrated and feeling comfortable”

The finish is difficult to put my finger on. I’d say it’s demi-matte, as it does a good job of controlling oil, and mattifying areas like my nose and forehead, however, it gives the skin a very subtle radiance and a little more bounce which gives the appearance of a fresher and more youthful-looking complexion. It doesn’t crease and wears well throughout the day. It has medium buildable coverage and the formula is hydrating without creating a slippy, greasy texture as the Revolution one did. For someone who just turned 30, this foundation is the perfect combination of skincare, makeup and sun protection that offers both immediate and longterm benefits. The only downside is that it’s currently only available in 14 shades (inclusivity who?) plus it’s quite a thick consistency so I don’t think 30ml is going to last me very long, especially not at the rate I’ve been slapping it on!

The No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation retails for £17 and is available to purchase from Boots here.
