Nail art designs 2017

“I got the horses in the back” is about to take on a very different meaning.

5. Cracked Nail Patterns and Snake-Inspired Designs

Similarly, Park thinks “cracked” nail patterns such as snakeskin are about to have a very big moment. They appear to be frustratingly complex at first glance, but they can be imitated at home with a little practice and some nail foils applied randomly.

6. Coffin-Shaped Nails

If 2019 marked the triumphant return of square and rectangular nails, 2020 will see the shape modify somewhat, according to Edwards. “The nail shape trend for 2020 will be coffin and tapered almond, which is slightly more narrow than almond but not as sharp as a stiletto,” she predicts.

Chaun Legend, nail artist to Kylie Jenner, is a long-standing fan of the coffin shape (as evidenced by his Instagram feed), so when this trend takes off, we’re betting we’ll have Jenner to thank.

7. More Inventive Nail Shapes

Meanwhile, Park has plans in place for more offbeat nail shapes, much like the “lipstick” shape she invented this year. “I have a small hope to draw more attention to unique nail shapes that aren’t just limited to square or round,” she says.

Of course, wackier nail shapes do come with risks. ” would have to be easy to re-create and should be wearable enough.”

8. French Manicures and Even More French Manicures

The French manicure was arguably the biggest nail trend of 2019. Park and Miss Pop agree that will continue well into 2020 — with a twist, that is. While Park enjoys experimenting with negative space and the shape of the tip, Miss Pop is all about colorful Frenches.

“In 2020, we’ll be forgoing the traditional pink-and-white French combo,” she says. “Reach out and grab a color: saturated brights, pastels, and neons. Grab more than one for an ombré French tip. Or pick up a dotting tool to add an extra spot of interest.”

However, 2018 is over now, and it’s time to take stock of some nail art 2019 trends that we need to be putting into consideration as we go into 2019.

With that in mind, let’s see the biggest 2019 nail art trends so far!

Glitter Nail Art 2019

Nail Art

To be honest, it really doesn’t matter if you are going for a refined and discreet look or what you’ll prefer is a look that is cheerful and bright. This Glitter nail art trend is definitely one that works for a lot of people.

You can put the latter on in a delicate way and simply scatter it in silver and gold tones, or you can also put it on with a colorful and bright way, even throwing in various gradient colors.

The Minimalist Nail Art Design

Ever wondered how the minimalist woman will most probably put her nails on for 2019?

Well, it’s most probably with rounded, short squares and neutral tones. Whether it’s taupe (by getting cold shades of beige and a blush of pale grey) or white, a simple and chic minimalist style demands color like these.

Also, you can choose to get neutral tones if you will like to give a little more attention to the other elements in your ensemble.

The Reinvigorated 2019 French Manicure

The French manicure might have witnessed a lite drop in popularity over the past few years, but this style has definitely seen a resurgence in vogue and appeal.

Do away with the normal while lines on your nails because the French manicure just might be the in-color for 2019.

There are various ways to bring this resurgent trend back into your life, with methods including unusual arrangements, metallics, textures and amalgamations of colors as well. Be free, be French!

2019 Festive Look

At the end of the day, it is the season of celebration and joyfulness. Head into 2019 with the Celebration nail art trend, one that is sure to help convey the spirit of the holidays that has your heart so happy.

For those evenings where parties will be the order of the day, let your fingertips show just how happy you are.

The 2018-2019 manicure trends are perfectly reflected in the jewel tones, and they convey that festive look in a perfect way. You can choose to put on these colors alone, and you can also combine a few of them for a more encompassing look. Throw in some metallic, and you can have a high gloss finish as well.

Whichever you choose, it’s fine.

Dark and Stormy Nail Art 2019

Going into 2019, why not let the darker, cuter version of yourself find more expression?

Dar tones are definitely part of the 2019 nail trends that you need to watch as you go into the New Year.

You can opt to do the full black ensemble or choose hues of colors such as smoked navy, chocolate cherry, burgundy, wine, etc.

These colors can sometimes be more textured to provide a little bit of a gothic effect. To wit keep in mind that inasmuch as shining nails seem to be the in-thing at the moment, matte nails are definitely not so out of vogue as well

The Half Moon Nail Design 2019

The half moon has actually been in vogue for quite a lot of seasons now. Also known as the inverted French manicure, this nail art 2019 trend actually remains one of the major trends going into the New Year as well.

You can match your bright colors on short or long and more discreet nails, then pair those with some neutral shades.

Do this and you’re more than ready to go!

Moody Tones Colors of 2019

They might be a little bit more ideal for the beginning of the year, but moody tones definitely can help make your fingers pop even more. If you’re looking for something that works with just about any outfit, this is one art trend that can work for you.

The Mismatched 2019 Nail Trend

The mismatched nail trend has always been popular, and it is one of the nail art trends that has continued to persist till this day. One of the advantages of the nail art trend is that it provides you with the opportunity to be led by your imagination. Paint one nail, a few of your nails, or even all your nails, with a different color and just lose yourself in your own creativity. You can choose to put on a print on a fraction of your fingers or even choose to accentuate a finger with ornaments or nail art. Whatever you want to do, just be carried away by what you want.

One thing is sure, though; with this trend, uniformity is out the window!

It’s hard to make it to the salon on a regular basis to keep your nails looking proper. So, if you can’t make it to your bi-weekly appointment for some killer nail art, or you simply love doing your own nail art, here are the cool tools (aside from the basics, like base/topcoat, cuticle pusher, nail file, polish remover, etc.) that you’ll need to take your nail game to the next level, according to nail pro Amber Morgan, a manicurist from Paintbox Salon in NYC.

1. Matte Topcoat. A matte topcoat instantly gives your nails a cool-girl, non-glossy mod finish. Try Nails Inc. Westminster Bridge Matte Effect Top Coat.

2. A Nail Polish Correcting Pen. You don’t have to be a pro nail artist to end up with flawless-looking nails — you just have to know how to clean up around your nail bed properly for a clean, professional finish. A polish-erasing pen can help with that, thanks to its precision tip, which is doused in polish remover that can erase any mistakes along the side walls of your nails easily. Try Julep Clean Slate Polish Corrector Pen.

Kathleen Kamphausen

3. Glitter Nail Polish Remover Pads. If you’re a glitter girl (Who isn’t?!) but think glitter is a pain in the ass to get off, then you need to invest in a textured pad that can help swipe off any finely milled or grittier glitter in a flash. Try Butter London Glitter Scrubbers Textured Remover Wipes.

Kathleen Kamphausen

4. Nail Repair Formula. If you’re constantly putting on false nails or getting gel polish applied to your nails, your nails can tend to be dry and brittle. It’s a good idea to give your natural nails a break for a week and apply a formula nightly that restores and conditions your nails back to a healthy, strong state while you’re polish-free. Try Perfect Formula Repair Coat.

Kathleen Kamphausen

5. Striping Tape. This very thin metallic tape can applied and kept on your nail to enhance your nail art, or it can be pressed onto your nail to create super straight lines and then lifted away. Try Etsy Nail Striping Tape.

Elizabeth Griffin/J. Ryan Roberts

Foil paper creates a cool design when you paint your nails a desired base color, apply a clear glue over top, and then press and pull the tape away quickly, leaving behind imperfect traces of foil on your nails for a cool finish, like this. Try Etsy Transfer Foiland Nail Adhesive Glue.

Elizabeth Griffin/Paintbox

7. Dotter Tool. If you want to make tiny or large dots on your nails, or create a design using a series of circles, a dotter tool is the way to go. It creates perfect tiny or large dots in seconds, like this. Try The Body Shop Nail Pen.

Elizabeth Griffin/Paintbox

8. Striper Brush. You can pick up a striper brush at any beauty supply store or use a small, thin paint brush. This tiny brush helps create thin lines and intricate detail. Just make sure you properly clean the brush with nail polish remover before dipping it into another color if you’re using multiple shades.

9. Loose Glitter. Take any mani to the next level by sprinkling a little loose glitter (that you can get at any craft store) evenly all over your base color while it’s still wet, or concentrating it at the tip of your nail for an ombré effect.

Elizabeth Griffin/Paintbox

10. Studs. If you want substantial 3-D embellishments on your nails, stash tiny studs, metallic circles, colored crystal domes, and iridescent shavings in your nail kit, which you can also pick up at your local craft store.

Elizabeth Griffin/Paintbox

11. Domed Pearls. For a more ladylike design, pack pearls and clear crystals in your nail kit to doll up your digits. Try Ciatè Caviar Mother of Pearl Manicure Kit.
