Michael Strahan seems friendly enough on camera but his persona may be something different behind the scenes.
That’s because his presence at “Good Morning America” is still “ruffling feathers,” with fellow anchors on the morning news show fed up with the way ABC bosses are giving him preferential treatment, Page Six is reporting.

“They roll out the carpet for while seasoned talent is treated like dirt,” a source told Page Six. “He’s been given a lot of opportunity, flexibility, when the others who have been working there longer don’t get that kind of treatment.”
When the former New York Giants defensive end left his other morning gig, “Live! with Kelly and Michael” — and also under less than friendly terms with his co-host Kelly Ripa — he reportedly signed a special deal with “Good Morning America.”
It lets him work on “Good Morning America,” while also allowing him to continue analyzing football at “Fox NFL Sunday” and host ABC’s “$100,000 Pyramid.” But he was forced to drop most of his lucrative endorsement deals when he joined the morning show.
GMA co-anchor Lara Spencer, who specializes in pop culture and life-style reporting, “feels like her role has been minimized with Strahan,” a source told Page Six. “There’s not a lot of love between the two. They know how to put it on for the cameras, but he’s doing a lot of what Lara should be doing and she’s not happy. She’s the pop person.”
Meanwhile, George Stephanopoulos is generally bored with his GMA gig and all the “fluff” the job involves. “He goes into work, does the show and leaves by 8:57 a.m.,” a source said about Stephanopoulos. He’s also known for his more serious work as ABC’s chief political correspondent and as host of ABC’s Sunday morning political roundtable “This Week.”
“He doesn’t interact. He’s been phoning it in for quite some time,” the source said.
An ABC News executive insists there’s no animosity between Strahan and his co-anchors. The executive said Spencer fully welcomed Strahan into the fold: “They get along great. She loves having someone with his sense of humor on the show. Michael is lovely with the staff.”
The executive also denied the idea that Stephanopoulos isn’t engaged with “Good Morning America,” adding that he, like everyone else on the show, is juggling multiple projects.
“The idea that George is phoning it in is absurd. He gets to ‘GMA’ at, like, 3 in the morning. He works 16 hours a day,” the exec continued. “And he’s incredibly engaged in the news coming out of DC right now.”
Michael Strahan to Appear in ‘Magic Mike XXL’
The ‘Live’ co-host is set to strip down for the sequel
Michael Strahan is taking his stripper dance moves to the big screen.
The Live With Kelly and Michael co-host revealed Monday morning that he’ll make an appearance in the Magic Mike sequel, set to hit theaters July 1, 2015.

Longtime viewers of Live know that Strahan isn’t shy when it comes to stripping down. In 2012, the then-guest-host performed a spontaneous dance — complete with tear-away pants — during an appearance by Magic Mike star Channing Tatum (watch the video below). A year later, after Strahan was selected as the show’s permanent co-host alongside Kelly Ripa, Tatum visited the show again and formally invited Strahan to appear in the movie, titled Magic Mike XXL.
The sequel, which began production several weeks ago, catches up with the group of male strippers at the center of the first movie.

Along with Tatum, original stars Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Alex Pettyfer and Gabriel Iglesias are set to return for the sequel. (Matthew McConaughey is not reprising his role.) Amber Heard and Jada Pinkett Smith also have joined the sequel’s cast.
Gregory Jacobs is directing the sequel from a script by Tatum and Reid Carolin, who wrote the first movie.
Magic Mike director Steven Soderbergh is returning as editor and cinematographer (using his pseudonyms Mary Ann Bernard and Peter Andrews, respectively).
In addition to his Live duties, Strahan reports for ABC’s Good Morning America and is an analyst for Fox NFL Sunday.
Dayum! Is that really the guy from Live with Kelly and Michael?!
Michael Strahan, 42, looked so good on set of Magic Mike XXL that even Magic Mike himself, Channing Tatum, was impressed. The folks at Good Morning America managed to snag a photo of their ABC colleague as he showed off his jacked, six-pack (maybe even seven) abs.

Good morning America, indeed!
OKAY @michaelstrahan! Look at this behind the scenes photo of him (and @channingtatum from the “Magic Mike XXL” set.
Professional dancer Stephen “Twitch” Boss, who appeared in Step Up Revolution, will also appear in the stripping sequel and he too has been sharing some semi-shirtless photos from the set.

“It’s going down @channingtatum Magic Mike XXL!! #MikeAndMalik @beatsbydre,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
Posing yet again with Tatum and some ladies, the dancing pro tweeted: “Life is beautiful and we are having a blast! Magic Mike XXL is going to be one for the books. #truth @espinosa22 @lukebroadlick @espinosa22 @channingtatum #AlisonFaulk @beatsbydre @onnit #muchloveANDlight.”

In the sequel, not set to hit theaters until 2015, the guys apparently go on the road to a male stripper convention. We’re assuming that’s where they run into Strahan and the other new cast members. Jada Pinkett-Smith and Amber Heard have also been confirmed for the second film.
Do you think Magic Mike XXL will be as good as the first movie? After all, Tatum promised ET that the movie will “be very different.”

“We gave them no direction, just the title,” Jimmy Fallon explains. “We asked them to write scenes based on what they think a movie called ‘Magic Mike’ would be about.” And with that “Magic Mike XXL” star Channing Tatum is put through the dog and pony show of late night TV, but hey, at least the segment is amusing.
So for “Magic Mike XXL,” Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer and Cody Horn are gone, but it’s interesting to see how much the sequel has diversified with their absence. Having much bigger roles in the follow-up film are Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias and the cast also includes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Donald Glover, Stephen “tWitch” Boss and Michael Strahan in not insignificant roles either (also new to the cast are Andie MacDowell and Elizabeth Banks).

Considering how much the urban and Latino audiences are underserved at the movies, the diversity of the cast feels like a very smart move. You already know “Magic Mike XXL” is going to be huge with the ladies—the original was already a big, profitable surprise hit in 2012—so to extend its reach feels wise. This time, the movie is a roadtrip story and director Steven Soderbergh lets his producer and creative right-hand-man Gregory Jacobs take over the reins. With “Magic Mike XXL” in theaters very soon, July 1st, Warner Bros. has released seven new clips from the film. Watch below and whet your appetite for Mike.
