Kate Gosselin May Have Just Hinted ‘Kate Plus 8’ Is Coming Back to TV

While Jon and Kate Gosselin may no longer be on TV together with their hit show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, there’s no doubt they left a mark on reality television forever. Jon and Kate first attained fame for having eight children — one set of sextuplets and twins. And it wasn’t long after their show started when the couple had their highly-publicized and dramatic divorce.

Today, two of the eight kids live with Jon, and the rest reside with Kate. And while Jon has taken a step out of the TV spotlight, Kate is still very much in it. Is she slated for an even bigger comeback with the return of her show, Kate Plus 8? She may have just given a clue that it’s in the works.

Kate Plus 8 was reportedly canceled after receiving low ratings

While Jon & Kate Plus 8 ceased production post-divorce, Kate wasn’t finished with reality television. She appeared on Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Apprentice, and she also continued the program centered around her and her children but with a new name: Kate Plus 8. Unfortunately, Kate Plus 8 was also short-lived. It began in 2011 and was canceled shortly after.

There’s been some talk of a Kate Plus 8 revival in past years, however. People reported back in 2014 that TLC ordered more episodes of the show — though we know now that the show still couldn’t pull in enough viewers even with the revamp. Radar Online reported in 2015 that the new season at the time had 1 million fewer viewers during the season premiere than previous seasons had. As one insider told the publication, “It’s the same old story. The past is played out and there are too many other things going on in the world.”

Just because Kate Plus 8 flopped doesn’t mean Kate gave up on TV altogether. She recently starred in her dating show, Kate Plus Date, where she attempts to find love through matchmakers and records it all for her show. Kate even talks about her divorce with Jon on-screen, too. People reports she said, “It’s not a secret I went through a very public divorce. That wasn’t pleasant. I feel like for that very reason, I am very guarded, and I don’t tend to trust people. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I certainly don’t want to rush into another relationship.”

At the end of the season, HollywoodLife reports Kate seemed to hit it off with one of the men she went on a date with, so we’ll have to see if their relationship progresses. Oddly enough, it seems she may be ready to go for another season of Kate Plus Date, too. The star told Good Housekeeping she’d love to do a second season of the show.

Will Kate Plus 8 be back? Kate may have given fans a hint

While Kate may have told Good Housekeeping that another season of Kate Plus Date may be in her future, it seems Kate Plus 8 may also be in the works. Kate recently posted a photo of a recipe she cooked with her date, Jeff, to Instagram. And in the comments section, a fan asked, “Why is Kate +8 over .” To that, Kate answered, “not over… stay tuned .”

That seems to be all of the details she’s given fans so far, so we’re not sure if that means another season of Kate Plus Date is coming, or Kate Plus 8 really is slated for a return following the success of Kate’s dating show. Has enough interest in the Gosselin family been renewed that a show about the family would hold viewers? And will the two kids living with Jon — Hannah and Collin — be a part of the series? We’re not sure — but we’re hoping we’ll get more information soon!

Kate Gosselin has a new show “Kate Plus Date” on Mondays, where she is looking for love, and after one date went kind of off the rails, her 18-year-old daughter spoke up.

Gosselin went out with a man named Andrew and there were several silent pauses with very little conversation. She later called the date “painful.”

The one thing he did say that rubbed Kate and her daughter the wrong way was calling her a “celebrity.”

In behind-the-scenes images the mother of eight shared on Instagram, she wrote, “Oh, Mady! The things she picks up on!”

She added, “This guy said the WORST thing you can ever say to us…. like nails on a chalkboard to us! And Mady had to take note of it while watching the clips!”

Things aren’t going all that well with the other men either. Apparently a man named Nick stood her up.

“As I waited for #NoShowNick I couldn’t help but stare at the ceiling … I was surrounded by cats!” she shared in another Instagram image.

But at least her camera man Danny kept her company.

She added later, “Watch next weeks #KatePlusDate — I’m NOT KIDDING, you’ll laugh the entire time! It was SO MUCH FUN!” So something must have gone right.

Bad dates aside, Gosselin is really opening up for the show and growing.

The woman who divorced her ex-husband Jon Gosselin almost a decade ago opened up to her matchmaker about her divorce, saying that “it hasn’t been pleasant,” in a preview clip obtained by People magazine.

Mady added this week that the divorce from her dad really gave her “trust issues.”

It’s been a busy year for Kate and her kids.

Earlier this year, twins Cara and Mady graduated from high school and their mom couldn’t be more proud.

“I’m still beaming with pride! It’s hard to believe that Cara and Mady graduated from high school this past weekend,” she wrote. “And are headed off to college in the fall! Where did the time go????”

“Kate Plus Date” airs at 10 p.m. EST Mondays on TLC.

“Our mom made us do this, though we’re sure you already knew that.”

The eldest Gosselin kids are finally escaping the grips of their controlling mother college-bound and bringing along a camera crew to document the entire thing.

TLC has announced a special Kate Plus Eight episode will air next week that will focus on Cara and Mady, the 18-year-old twins of Kate and Jon Gosselin, as they prepare for life as college freshmen.

….And because Kate is, well… Kate, she’s decided to make some cash the most of this monumental time in her daughters’ lives by insisting that they bring her along, as well as a TLC crew for the occasion!

“I might not be the star of this thing, but at least my name is still in the title.”

In the trailer for the special, we learn that the twins aren’t too keen on dorm living, likening their new digs to that of a prison cell.

“College dorms are depressing,” Mady says. “Some of the windows are, like, this big and I feel like I’m in prison.

We also learn that Kate isn’t coping well with the idea of her two oldest children leaving the nest… even though two of her youngest, Colin and Hannah, flew the coop to live with their father last year.

“How you gonna play us like that, Cara and Mady? You’re leaving us alone with Mommy Dearest!”

As for the remaining sextuplets living with Kate (Alexis, Joel, Leah and Aiden), we see in the trailer that they, too, are adjusting to life without Cara and Mady living at home, though mostly due to their mother insisting on “putting up a shrine” of the twins “like they’re dying.”

In addition to the college tours, farewell dinners and Kate’s mourning, we’ll also get to see the family take part in some forced family fun along the way, which Kate almost certainly used to bribe her children into partaking in this “special.”

“OK, on three let’s tell each other how much cash mom slipped us to do this mess.”

The special will also include the twins’ “last meal” with the family, where Kate gets emotional and seems to remember that she has two other kids who no longer live with her.

“We keep having family members leave,” Kate tells them tearfully, before saying in voice-over, “It’s a pain that’s hard. I don’t wish it on anyone.”

Again, to clarify: the girls are going to college. They have not died.

The ‘Kate Plus Eight’ special airs Tuesday, October 2 on TLC.

Vacation Like Jon & Kate Plus 8

by Jessie S.

Even if you don’t enjoy reality TV, chances are you’ve heard of the Gosselin family and maybe even seen an episode or two of the popular TLC show Kate Plus 8. During the height of reality television, the Gosselin family skyrocketed to fame as Discovery Health released Jon & Kate Plus 8 in 2007. The show itself tells the captivating story of couple Kate and Jon Gosselin who were parents to a set of twins and a set of sextuplets. Eventually being broadcast on TLC and renamed to Kate Plus 8 following the couple’s divorce, the show continued on showing the daily lives of Kate and her eight young kids. As vacation lovers, the couple has traveled many places with the family but in Season 4, the whole family visited Corolla!
Now you can rent the same gorgeous beach home that the Gosselin family stayed in during their trip! Victorian Fan Ta Sea is an awesome 5-bedroom oceanside rental in Corolla, NC with plenty of space for a large family (and don’t forget your 4-legged best friend because this home is Pet-Friendly too)! Perfect for your next coastal getaway, Victorian Fan Ta Sea is a large Victorian-style home packed with amenities and sits less than 500 yards from the beach.

New to Seaside Vacations Rental Program in 2019, available weeks in Victorian Fan Ta Sea will rent very quickly. The home features 3 King bedrooms (one is a full Master Suite), a Queen bedroom and a Bunk Bedroom along with 3 full bathrooms and 2 half baths. Kids of all ages will love the downstairs recreation room as they shoot a few rounds of pool or sit down to play their favorite board game for family game night. Both the living area and modern kitchen with updated appliances were designed for a larger group of guests so there is plenty of seating and tons of space for the whole family to enjoy a good meal or a relaxing movie together – precisely why the Gosselin’s chose this house!

The outdoor living space is even more relaxing. With a selection of covered porches and wrap around sun decks, guests can sit outside and soak up the ocean breeze rain or shine no matter the time of day. But the most exciting (and relaxing) feature of Victorian Fan Ta Sea? A huge 16’x32’ private saltwater pool right in the back yard. Whether you want to swim a few laps in the morning, lounge around the pool all day with your favorite book and a drink in hand, or splash about in the afternoon sun with the kids, your whole family will love spending their vacation around this awesome pool.

When you aren’t enjoying the home’s many amenities, you’ll love exploring Corolla. From small family-owned shops, restaurants that serve fresh locally caught seafood and nearby historic attractions, there’s always something to do in town! One activity we highly recommend is taking a safari-style tour of the 4×4 beaches where the Corolla Wild Mustangs roam. The wild horse tour excursion Kate and her kids took is featured in the episode and if you watched it, you’ll get a great idea of what to expect. There’s nothing quite like seeing horses running free among the ocean waves so we’re sure you’ll have just as much fun as they did!

Watch It Yourself: If you’re interested in watching the Gosselin’s explore the Outer Banks and vacation in Victorian Fan Ta Sea, the episode can be purchased from Amazon!

Jessie has been coming to the Outer Banks since she was just 5 years old. She loved it here so much that she finally relocated in 2018. Now her mission is to show the world that the Outer Banks is an incredible place that everyone should experience. When she isn’t working, you can find Jessie hanging out with her friends, chilling at home with her awesome cat, Yoji, or discovering a new Outer Banks adventure.

Kate Plus Date: Kate Gosselin Gives One Man the ‘Stamp of Approval’ After ‘Amazing’ Dinner Date

Kate Gosselin might be one step closer to letting her guard down.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek at Monday’s season finale of Kate Plus Date on TLC, potential suitor Jeff invites Kate over for dinner at his house — and it goes surprisingly well.

“Throughout the evening, one of my goals was not necessarily to make a move, it was to feel her out and to see if that was a possibility,” Jeff explains to producers in a confessional. “So I eventually put my arm on the back of the couch, kind of around her. I don’t recall her settling into that too well, if at all, but she didn’t reject it. She didn’t move away.”

Indeed, Kate’s body language remains relatively open as the two settle into the living room after the meal, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

“ amazing,” she says. “Messy and amazing and good and delicious. Actually, very well-chosen, very well-planned. You can cook. You get a stamp of approval.”

Still, she’s surprised that he invited her into his home, and says as much.

“Why?” he asks. “Do you not trust people easily?”

“Oh no,” she replies. “Have you not figured that out yet? … I trust people but it takes a long, long, long time. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”

When Jeff reaches over to gently brush a strand of hair out of her face, Kate jumps, clearly taken aback by the briefly intimate moment.

“Can’t see your eye,” he says.

“I have two,” she jokes.

“Did that freak you out?” he asks.

“No, it’s fine,” Kate replies, laughing nervously.

Later, Kate admits she had no idea how to behave in the moment.

“I’m a shy person. I do talk a lot, so probably not textbook shy, but I am,” she tells producers. “The thought of him kissing me caused so much panic that I quickly shoved it out of my head. I hope he does, I hope he doesn’t, yes, no, I don’t know — where’s the door?”

“I don’t sit there like, I wonder what he’s going to do next,” she adds. “I’m very in-tune to people, their behavior, their words, I’ll break it down. But I think when this romantic-y stuff happens, I don’t know, I just disappear, apparently. Because that part always eludes me.”

And while they’ve only just met, Jeff seems to understand her.

“I think that even though Kate can come across somewhat standoffish, and understandably so, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t want to find love or have romance or even just enjoy the company of someone in a closer, more intimate setting,” he says. “So I get that and it didn’t feel unnatural. It just felt like, that’s her.”

Kate, 44, divorced her husband Jon Gosselin, 42, in 2009 after 10 years of marriage. The two share 15-year-old sextuplets Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin, and 18-year-old twins Mady and Cara.

Speaking to PEOPLE Now in June, the TLC star said she’s careful about who she lets into her life.

“I used to look for qualities that I liked as a person, but now I have to look for qualities that we all like,” she said of her and her kids.

“It’s not a secret I went through a very public divorce,” she added. “That wasn’t pleasant. I feel like for that very reason, I am very guarded, and I don’t tend to trust people. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I certainly don’t want to rush into another relationship. The pressure is on for it to be positive and successful for all of our sakes.”

The season finale of Kate Plus Date airs Monday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.

Did Kate Gosselin Just Slam Jon Gosselin on Her New Dating Show, ‘Kate Plus Date’?

It’s hard to believe Jon & Kate Plus 8 graced our television screens nearly 15 years ago. When we were first introduced to Jon and Kate Gosselin via TLC, the couple was doing their best to manage life with a set of twins and sextuplets — and their lives seemed unmanageably hectic. It certainly took a toll on their relationship, too, as the only thing more famous than Jon and Kate’s huge family is their ugly and very public divorce.

Today, Jon has stepped out of the reality TV spotlight while Kate has reentered it. Her dating show, Kate Plus Date, recently premiered — and we were surprised to see how she recounted some of the past drama from her life before the dates even began. Kate even had some choice words to say about Jon Gosselin, too.

It’s not too surprising that Kate is stepping back into the world of reality TV (we can’t forget that she’s appeared on Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing With the Stars), but it did shock many that she’s choosing to date on television. People reminds us she and Jon divorced over a decade ago, and Kate mentions on the premiere of Kate Plus Date that dating is not in her wheelhouse. Even though she feels uncertain about finding love again, she’s made it known she’s ready to find someone for herself as her kids age into their late teen years.

As Kate told People, “The truth is, it is not a secret I went through a very public divorce. hat wasn’t pleasant. I feel like for that very reason, I am very guarded, and I don’t tend to trust people. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I certainly don’t want to rush into another relationship. The pressure is on for it to be positive and successful for all of our sakes.”

Mady and Cara, Jon and Kate’s 18-year-old twins have also opened up about how excited they are for Kate’s dating journey. “Normally she is a private person, and this experience has helped her a lot, figure out how she can open up to someone and feel good about it,” Mady said.

She discussed her past relationship with Jon Gosselin at the beginning of the premiere

Not only did the premiere episode of Kate Plus Date give fans a taste of what’s to come in terms of the men Kate will be dating, but she started off the show talking about being a parent with ex-husband Jon. “I was the mom of eight kids. That does not come without immense, ridiculous stress,” she mentioned. “Being 29 years old, having been married for a couple of years, really really sets you up for, you know, you really have to grow up fast.”

There were also clips of Kate from a decade ago discussing her relationship with the cameras when she was still married, and she mentions she knew she was hard on him for the decade they were together. “I just have a lot of anger,” she told the cameras during the Jon & Kate Plus 8 days — and it seemed she didn’t feel like she was getting the help from Jon that she needed at the time.

“You know, they say the person that you’re with should bring out the best you … and I just don’t feel like the best version of myself was brought out,” she told the Kate Plus Date cameras. This was then followed by a clip of Kate crying about her difficulties with Jon to the cameras from a decade ago.

How does Jon feel about Kate’s show?

Happy 15th Birthday Hannah, Collin, Alexis, Aaden, Joel and Leah!!!! Wow I can’t believe you are 15!!! Time is flying by!!! I love you all very much. I wish you the best day ever and I hope you enjoy your birthday celebrations today and this weekend!!! Love always, Dad

It’s no secret that Jon and Kate still don’t speak despite living quite close to each other. Today, six of the kids live with Kate while two of the sextuplets, Hannah and Collin, live with Jon. And Jon has also given his opinion on what he thinks of Kate taking a stab at dating on television.

“To each own. Whatever keeps the lights on,” Entertainment Tonight reports Jon told HLN TV. He then added, “I kinda stay out of the limelight as much as possible.” Jon also said that “if she chooses to do that, she chooses to do it. Two of the kids live with me, so those two won’t be on her dating show, and I’m pretty sure the other four won’t be either. But I know, obviously, Mady and Cara are on the show.” With this kind of answer, it looks like we won’t be seeing any dating shows starring Jon anytime soon.

Kate Plus 8 star Kate Gosselin said TLC cut ties with her which ends her reality TV income stream for now. According to Jon Gosselin, his ex-wife lives for her reality show fame. So, how will she deal with her new reality off of television?

Kate Plus 8: Reality Ship Sailed for Kate Gosselin?

This surprise reveal, made by Kate Gosselin, happened in front of a judge in a courtroom. Reportedly, 44-year-old mom of eight dropped the bombshell that TLC terminated her contract. So, it looks like the reality show gravy train’s over for the Kate Plus 8 mom.

Kate Gosselin appeared in court a few weeks ago for a contempt charge. The mom of many defied a judge’s order and had to answer for it. Apparently, she and TLC production knew her kids couldn’t appear on TV without Jon Gosselin’s approval. So, the judge banned them from taping.

So, while the judge banned her from using her minor children for television, she had an option to obtain work permits for the kids. With those in hand, TLC could film Kate Gosselin and the kids. However, there’s a catch.

Because, she needed Jon to sign off on those permits as well. Fans of the Kate Plus 8 family know Jon’s against his kids growing up in the fishbowl of reality TV. So, he wouldn’t be game to sign. But, did that stop her or TLC production? No.

Jon Gosselin Keeps Watchful Eye

Jon already said he wouldn’t allow his minor children to appear on the TLC docuseries. Also, he shared his reasoning. Because, he wants the children to have a normal childhood. But, apparently even a court order didn’t stop the Kate Plus 8 mama. She defied the court order and allowed cameras to film her kids for a TLC special.

And, not just one, but four of the Gosselin minor kids appeared on camera despite the judge’s order. TLC filmed Leah Gosselin, Alexis Gosselin, Aaden Gosselin, and Joel Gosselin. These four kids are part of the Gosselin sextuplets, who are now 15-years-old.

It was the birth of those sextuplets that started Kate Gosselin on her road to fame. But first, the original show included everyone, Jon and Kate Plus 8. So, the court summoned her to answer for defying the order, holding her in contempt.

Kate Plus 8 Now Just a Part of TLC History

Then, when Jon’s divorce from his TLC wife was finalized, she began filming as a single mother in her follow-up series Kate Plus 8. But, Jon fought to block her from using their kids on her show. In the sequence filmed during the ban, two of the sextuplets did not appear, but she and Jon’s older twin girls did.

But the twins, Mady and Cara Gosselin, are now 19-years-old. As adults, they can decide for themselves on whether to film. The other two members of the Gosselin sextuplets live with their dad Jon. He has full custody of Hannah Gosselin and Collin Gosselin. So, they didn’t appear on camera with their mother.

There’s no specifics released by Kate Gosselin or TLC about why she was fired. But, the context is clear. Without being able to use her kids for filming, she’s Kate plus no one. Her last semi-solo spinoff, Kate Plus Date, had dismal ratings.

So, it seems a long shot that TLC would keep her on contract without all the kids that made Kate Gosselin famous in the first place.

Soap Dirt offers the latest news for Kate Plus 8.

Will ‘Kate Plus Date’ Return For Season 2? It All Depends On Where The Dating Journey Takes Her

Kate Gosselin’s return to television, Kate Plus Date, was all about her this time around as she entertained the prospect of new men in her life. Although TLC has not made an official announcement about whether or not Kate Plus Date will return for Season 2, it’s hard to ignore the Gosselin family’s reality TV legacy. In some way or another, Kate Gosselin will be on your screen.

Then again, it has been getting mixed reviews from fans. Kate, ever the earnest reality TV star, said in a clip in early June that she was nervous about how people would react to the show. She said, “Are you ready to go on dates with me!? I can’t WAIT to share all these scary, awkward, fun, exciting, dorky and rewarding moments with you! I’m going on this adventure in hopes of finding my someone, but I also hope to show all single parents out there … that dating is mostly survivable.”

Just after the second episode, Kate returned to social media to check in with fans about whether or not they were into the show. Unfortunately, the fans were not. One nasty Instagram commenter called it “pure garbage.” Of course, a lot of the response was a little sexist. Following her public divorce from Jon in 2009, some fans are still irritated with Kate for returning to TV and trying to date. But what else should a single, reality celeb mom do? Let Kate live her life.

So, if the fans aren’t into it, could that kind of negative response deter a second season? Only time will tell.

TLC

Like most other reality shows, a renewal will boil down to two factors: Whether or not Kate finds someone at the end of Season 1, and whether or not the network is interested in pursuing a second season. There have been so many iterations of the Kate Plus franchise that this surely isn’t the last we’ve seen of her or her family.

Honestly, give a spin-off to Cara and Mady. The Gosselin twins have been standouts from the very beginning of Jon and Kate Plus 8. Could this series pave the way for a show about just them? The two are off to college, and might not want their freshman year documented, but who knows? They could be the next members of the family to take the TLC spotlight.

When asked by Fox News if she would ever get married again, Gosselin kept the possibility open — probably in case the show is renewed — even though she herself is unsure about whether or not that’s something she wants.

“I don’t like the ‘M’ word,” Kate said. “Everybody keeps saying that and that actually gives me like anxiety and panic honestly. But I mean, again, that’s a situation we’ll deal with it when we get there and I don’t even think that by the time somebody is talking about getting married if it’s right, I don’t, it’s obviously not going to cause me anxiety and panic. So I can’t say yes and I can’t say no.”

Until then, Kate Plus Date still has to wrap up its first season. Whether it’s renewed, or becomes something different, the Gosselin matriarch isn’t going anywhere.

Mother of 8 Kate Gosselin (Jon & Kate Plus 8) now finds time for romance in a 6 part reality series Kate Plus Date on TLC.

With her sextuplets grown and her oldest twins off to college, the time is right for the well-known mother of multiples to find that special someone.

Over the years, TLC viewers have watched Kate wading neck-deep in nappies, scrambling to get the kids off to school, or stressing over every detail of birthday parties – her world has always revolved around being a mum. However, devoting herself full-time to her children has left Kate’s dating skills more than a little rusty, so she’s enlisting the help of expert matchmakers Rachel DeAlto and Adam LoDolce to guide her through this very new – and often awkward – process. They’ll help Kate find her perfect match, setting her up on dates with 10 bachelors over the course of the series.

The dates are comprised of two activities: one that’s fun and interactive, and another that’s more intimate, where they really see if there’s a spark. Kate’s college-bound twins Mady and Cara are equally invested in finding their mum a partner, providing encouragement and colourful commentary along the way.

Throughout the six-part series, follow Kate’s journey as she evolves from reserved and cautious to open and invested. While the first few dates are awkward, even “painful” in Kate’s words, she eventually learns to trust the process with the support of her matchmakers and daughters. And Mady and Cara don’t hold anything back when it comes to advising their mum, but ultimately, Kate has the final say. After being wooed by all 10 mystery men, she is faced with the difficult decision of choosing just two guys to take on a second date – the pressure is on.

From adventurous and challenging encounters to fun and surprising moments, Kate Gosselin puts it all out there on display: the good, the bad and the awkward! Throughout the process, she lets her guard down and learns a lot about herself and exactly what it’s going to take to find everlasting love.

Thursdays from 15 August at 7:30pm on TLC.
