Mariah Carey earns reported $3.5m for NYE Times Square performance

This time last year, her performance in New York’s Times Square was dubbed a “trainwreck”.

But superstar Mariah Carey has proven she’s a showbiz trouper by ringing in 2018 in spectacular style.

It was a triumphant performance that had its fair share of diva-like attitude.

In true Mimi style, Carey appeared to be channelling her idol Marilyn Monroe in a gold sequinned dress and white fur coat as she performed a medley of Vision of Love and Hero.

She was reportedly paid $3.5 million for her performance, which lasted around ten minutes.

After the first song, the native New Yorker uttered a bizarre statement that left some baffled.

Carey lamented the lack of hot tea onstage to combat the cold temperatures, saying, “They told me there would be hot tea.”

She then declared, “I’m gonna be just like everybody else with no hot tea. We’ll just have to rough it.”

Mariah Carey has blamed technical difficulties for a disastrous New Year’s Eve performance at Times Square.

The West Australian Video Mariah Carey has blamed technical difficulties for a disastrous New Year’s Eve performance at Times Square.

The entertainer was back for a repeat performance on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest show.

It was billed as a comeback performance for the star after last year’s NYE gig, which was plagued by numerous technical problems.

Last year, sound problems affected Carey’s performance, with the singer unable to hear the backup vocals audible on the live broadcast, causing her to get flustered.

Then when Carey made the transition into her second number — her 1991 hit Emotions — she paused to tell the audience: “We didn’t have a (sound) check for this song, so we’ll just say it went to No. 1 and that’s what it is, okay?”

The 47-year-old pop diva had a trying time in 2017: she spent most of it embroiled in a nasty financial dispute with ex-fiance James Packer.

After a long and protracted legal battle, the Aussie billionaire reportedly forked out millions to Carey following their ugly break-up.

You’ll never guess how much Mariah Carey’s getting paid for a NYE performance!

Los Angeles – Mariah Carey will reportedly earn $2 to $5 million for one night’s work.

The singer is set to cash in with a New Year’s Eve performance at Copacabana in Brazil, according to TMZ.

Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that Mariah is releasing a festive children’s book.

Mariah – who has four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with estranged husband Nick Cannon – feels “thrilled and proud” to be releasing a picture story based on her 1994 hit single All I Want For Christmas Is You.

A photo posted by Mariah Carey (@mariahcarey) on Aug 26, 2015 at 2:20pm PDT

She said: “When I wrote All I Want For Christmas Is You it was my dream for it to become a classic Christmas song.

“I am so proud of the song’s impact as it continues to create memories for fans each year.

“I am thrilled to be able to bring the story of the song to new generations of families with the picture book.”

The book features the complete lyrics of the single and tells the story of a little girl whose festive wish is for a new puppy.

The news came after it was announced the Hero singer will make her directorial debut on the Hallmark Channel’s Mariah Carey’s Christmas Project.

The festive feature – which Mariah will also star in – will air in December as part of the network’s Countdown to Christmas programming.

What Is Christina Aguilera’s Net Worth and How Much Is She Getting Paid to Headline ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’?

New Year’s Eve isn’t the same without a performance from a pop icon. And, after Mariah Carey stole the show for the last two consecutive years, this year it’s time for a new diva. On tonight’s airing of Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, none other than Christina Aguilera will grace us with her presence (and voice) to help kick off 2019 with a bang. How much is the pop star getting paid to perform on New Year’s Eve? Find that out, plus Christina Aguilera’s net worth, ahead.

Christina Aguilera is this year’s ‘Rockin’ New Year’s Eve’ headliner

Minutes before the ball drops, one of the world’s most famous (and best-selling) pop artists, Christina Aguilera, will since us into the new year. The pop star last performed on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve in 2007 — one of the first year’s Ryan Seacrest hosted the show without Dick Clark himself — and is back this year for its 47th annual celebration.

Christina Aguilera is joined by fellow artists, Camila Cabello, The Chainsmokers, Foster the People, Halsey, Dua Lipa, Ella Mai, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, Weezer, New Kids on the Block, and Bazzi. As always, the show will be hosted live from Times Square in New York City with Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy as his co-host. Coverage from the West Coast Hollywood Party will be hosted by Ciara and Pretty Little Liars star, Lucy Hale will ring in the new year with the Central Time Zone celebration in New Orleans. Tune in today, Monday, December 31st, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC to watch.

Christina Aguilera’s net worth

As one of the most successful — and talented — pop stars in the world, it should come of no surprise that Christina Aguilera is worth a fortune. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the blonde bombshell has a net worth of around $160 million and makes a salary of around $15 million every year from various television appearances, touring, record sales, and more.

Speaking of television appearances, as one of the show’s original hosts, Christina Aguilera brought in a pretty penny from The Voice. The pop star allegedly brought in a whopping $17 million for season three. However, in the following seasons, she reportedly took a pay cut before parting ways with the televised singing competition in 2016. Since her time on the voice, Christina Aguilera has appeared on Lip Sync Battle and also released a new album called Liberation.

‘Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve With Ryan Seacrest’ Salary

As a headliner on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve With Ryan Seacrest, Christina Aguilera is bringing in the big bucks this evening. And while her exact salary is unknown, it could be close to $1 million like the show’s host, Ryan Seacrest. According to reports, Christina Aguilera charges $1 million for private performances (she once performed at a Halloween party in San Diego, California!). We wouldn’t be surprised if the pop star negotiated a similar contract with Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve With Ryan Seacrest. She could also earn residuals from the airing, making her earnings even higher.

“I will never know the truth, but I do know that we told them three times that her mike pack was not working and it was a disastrous production,” Ms. Bulochnikov told Us Weekly magazine on Sunday. “I’m certainly not calling the F.B.I. to investigate. It is what it is: New Year’s Eve in Times Square. Mariah did them a favor. She was the biggest star there, and they did not have their” act together.

Dick Clark Productions, which produced the show, issued a statement on Sunday night saying that Ms. Carey’s performance woes had nothing to do with the production, and that any suggestion that the company “would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd.”

“In very rare instances, there are of course technical errors that can occur with live television,” the statement said, adding that an initial investigation suggested that the production company “had no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms. Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance.”

A veteran audio producer, Robert Goldstein of Maryland Sound International, a company that has worked on the Times Square event for years, also said in an email that there had been no malfunctions with the sound equipment he oversaw.

Ninja’s New Years Eve fail set to break into top 10 Twitch clips of all time

The internet can’t get enough of Ninja failing to get a New York audience to floss during his New Year’s Eve event, and it looks like it will be entering the record books as it’s on course to break into the top 10 most viewed Twitch clips of all time.

Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins hosted an NYE Fortnite event in Times Square, New York, and had planned to encourage the near one million people in attendance to dance with him as part of his 12-hour stream. However, his request was instead met by a rejection from the soaked crowd and the video has since gone viral.

The majority had been standing around in the rain for hours and didn’t quite look in the mood, but now Ninja’s embarrassing moment is on the brink of entering the top ten most viewed Twitch clips of all time – which is no mean feat.

Currently in 12th spot, the clip might not be the most ideal content that Ninja would have liked to have reached views north of 1.4 million, but it is more publicity for the Fortnite player who dominated Twitch in 2018.

  • Read More: Fortnite streamers dominated Twitch in December 2018

At the time of writing, his fail is around 35,000 views away from making history, although there are still a range of weird and wonderful competition standing in its way if it’s going to go any further than the tenth spot.

GFUELA clip featuring Twitch star Dr DisRespect currently sits as the most watched clip on the list.

In top position, at the moment, is a clip from a fellow popular streamer Dr DisRespect. This short video recorded a shocking event as The Doc’s house was shot at while he was live on Twitch.

Other clips feature a variety of moments, anything from JurassicJunkieLive’s funny moment of playing a scary video game, to more serious issues such as Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg being asked about privacy issues on the internet.

If you would like to take a look at the top 10, they can be found below:

This time, there were no malfunctions. And there was no hot tea either, but hey, it could have been worse. It could’ve been last year.

Mariah Carey, wearing a white fur coat, long earrings and a gold-colored glittery dress, took the stage in Times Square to close out 2017, one year after a debacle of a performance that could be a contender for the Mount Rushmore of live-television moments, right alongside Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction.

This time, Ms. Carey’s performance did not feature the backup dancers of last year. There was minimal choreography, as she stayed in mostly one spot onstage during a frigid New York City night. She started a two-song set at 11:38 p.m. Eastern with “Vision of Love,” her first single, from 1990. Before her second song — “Hero,” from 1993 — it seemed all was not well from Ms. Carey’s point of view. She wanted her tea. She wanted it then.

“Happy New Year!” Ms. Carey said, addressing the crowd. “Just want to take a sip of tea if they’ll let me. They told me there would be tea. Oh! It’s a disaster. O.K. Well, we’ll just have to rough it. I’m going to be just like everybody else with no hot tea. But we’re going to try and do this one for you.”
