Love this idea! I will be trading my chippy mug racks for subwile tile in our new home. A bittersweet trade off, but this is a great idea to avoid damaging tile. Xo

Oh yes, that’s a great solution! I wish I had wall space in here for one of those cutie mug racks, but this is a good alternative for now. 🙌🏻

I think you had mentioned how you inexpensively updated your kitchen and it involved chalk paint… or did I totally IG dream it?!?! If you did, is there a blog post I missed? I love my kitchen but I’m cursed with builder grade oak cabinets 😩😩😩

  19. Erin | Cotton Stem

    May 23rd, 2017 at 1:05 am

Hey Joyce, yes! We did chalk paint on the cabinets, but that was before I had a Cotton Stem IG or blog…so no pics. 😩 I wish I had snapped a few so I could do a blog tutorial!

  20. Joyce

    May 23rd, 2017 at 1:07 am

Darn.. but glad I’m not going crazy and dreamed it. Lol!!

Your kitchen really makes me want to chalk paint my cabinets but I’m super intimidated. Mostly because my kids are 6 & 2 and keeping their hands off of the polycrylic would be extremely difficult.

  31. Erin | Cotton Stem

    May 23rd, 2017 at 2:41 am

Ha! Good thing it dried pretty quickly. 😉 I wish I’d known I was going to do IG/blog when we did it last summer–I would have taken some pics!

Thank you! I thought that was what you did! It turned out so good! I’ve never seen it done on curved end ones which is what I have. I’m going to give it a try!

I love watching your instagram stories! Can you let me know where you found your kitchen cabinet hardware, and what color? Also, where is your flooring from, and color?? Thank you for making my Me time more enjoyable 🌻

  36. Erin | Cotton Stem

    June 14th, 2017 at 12:48 am

Hey, thank you! The hardware is just from Amazon–search flat black cup pulls or something like that. The flooring is wood look tile from Lowes, Style Selections in Natural Cinnamon Timber!

    Hi Erin,

When you installed the C-hooks under the cabinet, did they poke through to the other side? That’s the only thing I’m worried about. Thanks in advance!

    Love your curtains!
    Where can i buy those?

    Drop cloths from Home Depot!

If you think that love or chivalry are dead, you are sorely mistaken.

But you gotta remember to personalize that shit! Bringing home flowers? Passé. A box of chocolates? Whitman’s can keep their money. Take a page from this guy’s romance book, and learn how it’s really done.

Ana Stanowick posted a photo to Twitter of her mom’s new boyfriend finishing a wall display to show off her mother’s mug collection, which, just from what we can see, consists of at least 51 glorious mugs!

my dad used to get so mad every time my mom would come home w a new coffee mug (she likes to collect them) and her new bf literally built her a wall to display her collection. this is why we don’t settle for loser boys, ladies!!!!! pic.twitter.com/BZQmfcVHuC

— Ana Stanowick (@AnaStanowick_) June 13, 2019

Stanowick tells Mashable that her mom started the collection when she received a frog mug for Christmas, but it broke under the tree before she could open it.

“Since then she just started collecting them. My dad has a very specific way he wanted things, and allll those mugs just didn’t really fit in his ideals I guess.”

“My dad used to get so mad every time my mom would come home w a new coffee mug,” Stanowick wrote on Twitter.

But according to Stanowick, her mom has been dating her boyfriend for three years, and they recently moved in together. “He had the idea to build the shelf as a surprise for her. She doesn’t have a favorite , but each of them have sentimental value and she can name the time, place, and who gave her each mug.”

Twitter’s heart was filled with the hope that love, is in fact, real, and that you shouldn’t settle for anything less than a partner who will support your passions.

hi im a stranger and im here to say i love ur mom and her frog and mug and mug frog collection and im glad shes getting the love she deserves

Omg, love this and love that your Mum has found happiness again…this simple gesture speaks huge volumes 😊👍💕

— DeliriousDatingDamsel (@Delirious_Dater) June 14, 2019

this is both the man & shelving I need in my life

— Cosmo (@alex_latimer) June 13, 2019

Given how often I see people get mocked for harmless little individual quirks and hobbies, it’s so nice to see someone getting supported in theirs

— sophia (tree owner) (@stratospheria) June 14, 2019

But everyone took a step back from all the lovey-dovey stuff for a second to talk about the real stars of this story — the novelty mugs. Especially the abundance of delightfully weird and wacky frogs in the collection. I mean, just look at all those absolute units!
