The Duke of Cambridge is seen kissing his youngest child Prince Louis in a new photograph taken by his wife.

The black-and-white picture was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge in Norfolk earlier this year and released on Christmas Day.

It also shows Princess Charlotte and Prince George, who are due to attend the Sandringham Christmas Day church service for the first time later.

The picture was posted on social media with the message: “Merry Christmas”.

In the photo, the duke wears a flat cap as he holds his youngest son, with Princess Charlotte standing beside them.

Prince George sits next to them in a chair as he smiles at the camera.

Pick up Prince George’s jacket by Columbia

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released another family photo and we couldn’t be happier!

Taken by Kate, the adorable snap shows Prince William kissing Prince Louis on the cheek, as Princess Charlotte and Prince George pose for the camera.

We instantly recognised George’s Columbia jacket as he previously wore it back in April. It’s the brand’s ‘Fast Trek II’ design, and features a zip-up funnel neck, contrast stitching and chest pockets. To complete the look, George is wearing the ‘Mini Dinosaur’ shorts by Boden.

George has the ‘Cypress’ colourway, which is sadly out of stock, but click (right) to check out the other seven colourways that are available online.

It comes just a day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s own Christmas card, with son Archie, was revealed.

The enchanting family photo showed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex laughing as they pose in front of a Christmas tree, with Archie’s cute face popping up in the foreground of the image.

The festive black and white card was shared on social media by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust on Monday night and says: ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our family to yours.’

At the bottom is says ‘this year we have chosen to send our holiday card electronically.’

It is understood that copies of the image, taken by the couple’s friend Janina Gavankar, were emailed to friends and staff on Monday and hard copies sent to family.

It comes after the royal couple, who have been outspoken on environmental issues, were accused of hypocrisy for their high carbon footprint, after taking a number of private jets in the past year.

In a tweet on Monday evening the Trust said: ‘Just sharing the sweetest Christmas Card from our President and Vice-President, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Very Merry Christmas, everyone!’

A source told the Mirror: ‘Harry and Meghan sent a selection of hard copy cards to family but chose to send their cards electronically this year with the aim of being environmentally conscious as well as being in Canada where they are currently enjoying a six week break away from royal duties.’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took Archie away for an extended break last month in Canada, and have been keeping a low profile ever since.

The duchess, a former actress, lived and worked in Toronto during her time starring in the popular US drama Suits, and the couple were famously pictured together when Meghan joined her then-boyfriend Harry at the 2017 Invictus Games in the Canadian city.

The Sussexes are likely to have spent the US Thanksgiving celebrations, which this year fell on November 28, with the duchess’ mother Gloria Ragland.

The couple have missed the Queen’s pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.

And they will not be present for the traditional royal family gathering at the monarch’s private Sandringham estate on Christmas Day.

After prompting from his father, George repeatedly stabs at the thick pudding mixture with a wooden spoon, making his grandfather Charles laugh.

Charles and William are also featured trying their hand at Christmas pudding making and the duke is seen holding his son’s hand at the Buckingham Palace event staged earlier this month.

The footage will feature in the Queen’s Christmas Day message due to be broadcast on Christmas Day.

The puddings were mixed for the Royal British Legion’s Together at Christmas initiative, which aims to provide extra support to the Armed Forces community at annual festive ‘get-togethers’ across the charity’s network, both at home and abroad.

From 2020, the annual events will be hosted at high street locations, care homes, membership branches and other outreach locations.

The footage was released on the same day the Royal Family were reunited after Prince Philip was released from hospital.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 98, was met with rapturous applause from visitors and well-wishers on the ground after arriving at Sandringham estate in a helicopter.

Charles, 71, and his wife Camilla arrived at the Queen’s estate in a separate helicopter shortly beforehand.

Dressed in a suit and tie, Prince Philip had left King Edward VII’s hospital in central London at 8.49am following treatment for a pre-existing medical condition, before being driven to Buckingham Palace and then flown by helicopter Sandringham in Norfolk, arriving at 9.40am.

The Duke thanked medical staff and shook the hand of his nurse as he left the hospital where he had spent four nights, before walking to his car unaided.

Flight tracking records reveal he was picked up in London at around 9.05am by a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter which whisked him up to the 20,000-acre Royal estate, flying at speeds of up to 175mph at a height of 3,300ft.

Philip’s return to Sandringham will have added significance for his family because while most people open their presents on Christmas Day, the royal family still keep to the German practice of unwrapping their gifts on Christmas Eve.

From 2020, the annual events will be hosted at high street locations, care homes, membership branches and other outreach locations.

The aim is to combat loneliness and isolation experienced by some members of the Armed Forces community at what can be a difficult time of year.

In the footage the royal family stirred four puddings together – which traditionally brings good luck – and each placed commemorative sixpences into the mixture, ready to be found by those attending the gatherings next year.

These special puddings will form part of 99 distributed across the legion’s network in time for the Christmas 2020 get-togethers, marking the charity’s ninety-ninth year.

Charles Byrne, the Royal British Legion’s director general, said: ‘The legion is not only here for older veterans, but all ages of the Armed Forces community.

‘As the Monarch and next three generations, Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses represent a cross-section of those supported by the legion, from the children of service personnel, to Second World War veterans.

‘Christmas can be a time when people’s troubles and worries are exacerbated by the financial pressures of the season or feelings of loneliness and isolation.

‘The extra support the legion can give, and the camaraderie of our get-togethers can make a big difference to our community’s well-being.’

The Queen and the three future kings mixed the puddings last week in the magnificent Music Room, one of Buckingham Palace’s 19 State Rooms, and the place where Prince William was christened.

One’s bumpy year: The Queen uses her Christmas message to acknowledge a turbulent 2019 for the royals (but there’s no photo of Harry and Meghan on her desk like last year… and definitely no Andrew!)

The Queen will reflect on the ‘bumpy’ year endured by both the Royal Family and the nation in her Christmas broadcast today.

Addressing a turbulent 12 months in which Prince Andrew was forced to step down from public duties, she will say ‘small steps’ can overcome difficulties and division.

Her annual broadcast will be directed mainly at national issues in a year dominated by Brexit and a general election. But royal sources said it would also cover problems in her own family.

Prince Philip faced a police probe over a car crash, Prince Harry acknowledged tensions in his relationship with his elder brother William, and Harry’s wife Meghan admitted she was struggling with her new life as a royal.

But the biggest ‘bump’ faced by the Royal Family was the fallout from the Duke of York’s disastrous Newsnight interview about his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

In a photograph of her speech, there was no picture of Prince Harry and Meghan on her desk like last year – when she had two in the shot – and also no sign of Prince Andrew.

Andrew, 59, is expected to watch his mother’s televised broadcast to the nation with the rest of the family at Sandringham.

She will say: ‘Small steps taken in faith and in hope can overcome long-held differences and deep-seated divisions to bring harmony and understanding.

‘The path, of course, is not always smooth, and may at times this year have felt quite bumpy, but small steps can make a world of difference.’

Andrew stepped back from public life following November’s ‘car crash’ BBC interview in which he attempted to explain his friendship with Epstein. He repeatedly denied claims that he had sex with one of the disgraced financier’s victims, Virginia Roberts, when she was just 17. Miss Roberts then accused him of lying. The Queen’s second son also faced calls to speak to the FBI about his relationship with Epstein, who was found dead in his prison cell in August awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. (pictured: Prince Andrew’s disastrous interview with the BBC)

The comments are believed to be her first public reference to the turmoil faced by her family this year.

She dubbed 1992 an ‘annus horribilis’ in a speech to mark the 40th anniversary of her accession.

In that year Charles separated from Princess Diana, Andrew split from his wife Sarah Ferguson, Princess Anne divorced Captain Mark Phillips, and a fire engulfed Windsor Castle.

He is expected to join the family at church today but may choose to sit with the Queen as she is driven to the service instead of joining the rest of the family as they walk and greet wellwishers.

For the first time Prince George and Princess Charlotte may accompany their parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It is thought that at six and four they are now old enough to sit through the service.

Their younger brother, Prince Louis, 19 months, will stay at Sandringham with his nanny, Maria Borrallo.

Royal sources say William and Kate will make a final decision, in conjunction with the Queen, on whether to bring the children when they wake up this morning.

Was Meghan Markle’s face PHOTOSHOPPED onto Christmas e-card? Experts say Duchess of Sussex’s face appears weirdly in focus in Archie snap while Prince Harry is blurry

The Duchess of Sussex’s face has been Photoshopped onto the family’s Christmas card, it was claimed today.

Meghan’s face appears significantly more in focus than that of Prince Harry in the picture, despite them both being roughly the same distance behind Archie.

Social media was abuzz overnight with people discussing whether the photo had been edited, with one saying: ‘Check out Meghan’s face, it is Photoshopped. Her face is clear and everything else is blurred. Archie’s is also photo shopped.’

Another tweeted: ‘This is quite possibly the worst Photoshopped picture I have ever seen. And again with the black and white.’

The black and white festive image shows Harry and Meghan sitting by a Christmas tree smiling as the seven-month-old gazes into the camera in the foreground.

ORIGINAL PICTURE — This photo was issued by @SussexRoyal of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Christmas card. Meghan’s face appears significantly more in focus than that of Prince Harry in the card picture, despite them both being roughly the same distance behind Archie

Following the comments on Twitter, MailOnline’s picture desk flattened out the shadows on Meghan’s face, which appears to show it was later added onto her body.

One possible reason is that the image of her face was taken in another similar photograph in the same shoot, and then added onto the picture they released.

MailOnline also spoke to Max Cisotti, a photographer since 1991 who has owned various celebrity selling agencies, who said: ‘Something’s not right.

‘It’s all to do with focal plane. Harry and Meghan are parallel, so if one is in focus, the other would be. They are side by side – it’s not like he’s further forward.

‘Her face (might have) been Photoshopped from another picture onto that. There are two lights on the baby’s face – in his left pupil there are two white reflections.

EDITED IMAGE — Research by MailOnline’s picture desk, which flattened out the shadows on Meghan’s face, appears to show it was later added onto her body

‘Then we look at the shadow on Meghan. Her left, you can’t really see the hairline and all that. All you can see is her face. So one of two things has potentially happened.

‘One, they deliberately out-of-focused everything, and then have just gone in and enhanced the detail just on her face – which would seem peculiar.

‘I would suggest her face has been Photoshopped from another picture, otherwise it would be out of focus. They are so far behind, everything else is out of focus.

‘So her face has either been superimposed or enhanced considerably. You cannot change the laws of physics, no matter who you are.’

The card was not officially released through any official royal channels, and first appeared on an unverified Twitter account called The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

Initially shared as a moving Gif image, with the lights on the tree twinkling, the account said: ‘Just sharing the sweetest Christmas Card from our President and Vice-President, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Very Merry Christmas, everyone!’

It is believed that copies of the image, taken by the couple’s friend Janina Gavankar, were emailed to friends and staff on Monday and hard copies sent to family.

A spokesman for the Sussexes has confirmed the card’s authenticity. Harry and Meghan are currently spending a six-week break over the festive period in Canada.

It is already been revealed they will not be joining the Queen and other members of the Royal Family at Sandringham on Christmas Day, as they are taking a break.

The Queen is said to be supportive of the Sussexes’ plans and it follows the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s past decision to spend Christmas with Kate’s parents.

Prince William baffled by photo of daughter Charlotte, saying it looks like him

Prince William has been stopped in his tracks after mistaking a picture of himself for his daughter, Princess Charlotte.

The 37-year-old royal did a double-take at the photo – and the endearing moment was caught on camera.

William had been looking at a tray of cakes, made by UK-based baker Siama Ali, which aimed to showcase the romance between himself and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.

His interest was sparked by a cupcake which included a snap of him at Buckmore Park Playscape in 1992, at age 10.

In the past, royalists around the globe have noticed how much Princess Charlotte resembles her father William.

Taking to Twitter, several online users made the comparison, even uploading a side-by-side image of William and his daughter.

“Well, Princess Charlotte is indeed Prince William in a dress! I get why he got confused,” one said.

“Charlotte sure does look like her daddy. It’s quite remarkable,” another said.

Others also drew a comparison between Charlotte and also her grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

“I think she has more of the Queen’s features,” one said.

“She looks like both William & the Queen. Charlotte looks a lot like her Dad did as a child but his facial expressions are more like Diana’s and Charlotte’s more like the Queen’s,” another added.

Royal Birth

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, third in line to British throne, was born on July 22, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, England. Prince George is the first child of Prince William of Wales and Duchess Catherine of Cambridge, also known as Kate Middleton. The prince’s birth was highly anticipated around the world and became a global news event, with reporters camped outside the hospital to cover his arrival. He was born weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces, in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital—the same hospital where his father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry, were born to Princess Diana and Prince Charles.

Following royal tradition, Prince George’s official birth announcement was placed on an easel outside of Buckingham Palace. It read: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 p.m. today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.” Prior to the official announcement, however, Prince William and Kate Middleton broke with tradition and introduced their baby to the world, greeting a larger crowd of citizens and members of the press outside of the hospital. “It’s very emotional,” the Duchess told reporters. “It’s a special time. I think any parent will know what this feeling feels like.”

Prince George is third in line to throne after his father, Prince William, and grandfather, Prince Charles. His birth marked the first time since the reign of Queen Victoria that three generations of direct heirs are alive at the same time.

On May 2, 2015, the Duchess gave birth to a daughter, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, weighing 8 pounds, 3 ounces, at 8:34 a.m. local time at St Mary’s Hospital. Prince George’s sister is the fourth in line to the throne.

On April 23, 2018, Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child, Prince Louis. Prince George’s brother will be fifth in line to the throne after Princess Charlotte and before their uncle Prince Harry.

Prince William and Kate Middleton: A Complete Timeline of the Royal Romance That Was Meant To Be

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship has often been described as a fairytale romance. Being a part of the royal family is partially responsible for that image, but there remains something about their romance that continues to charm royal watchers around the world. Here is a complete timeline of William and Kate’s royal romance that was always meant to be.

Early 2000s

William and Kate were first introduced while attending St. Andrews University in 2001. The pair reportedly started out as friends, with their romance really taking off the following year.

Although their relationship started at some point in 2002, the world did not see them together until 2004. At the time, Prince William and Kate Middleton were spotted on a ski vacation in Klosters and were about to enter their final year at St. Andrews.

2006

According to Elle, Prince William and Kate Middleton enjoyed their first public appearance in 2006 when they attended the wedding of Laura Parker Bowles. Laura is the daughter of Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

After appearing with William in public, Kate was thrust into the spotlight. The future Duchess of Cambridge had a difficult time adjusting to the constant attention, especially coming from a fairly ordinary upbringing.

2007

A year after the wedding, Prince William and Kate Middleton experience the first major hurdle of their relationship. While royal watchers were expecting the pair to get engaged, they broke up for a few months in the spring of 2007.

William was forced to answer questions about what went wrong while Kate traveled to Ireland to spend time with her friends. In 2010, Kate reflected back on their split and revealed that everything worked out for the better.

“I think I at the time wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person…You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realized,” she shared. “Or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger. I really valued that time for me as well although I didn’t think it at the time, looking back on it.”

Luckily the two were back together by the time July rolled around. A year later, William and Kate were spotted on a ski trip, which confirmed that their romance was officially back on.

2010

William and Kate grew very close in the years following their breakup. In October of 2010, William finally gathered the courage to propose to Kate Middleton during a romantic getaway in Kenya.

Prince William’s brother, Prince Harry, had given him their late mother, Prince Diana’s, engagement ring for the proposal, and the engagement could not have gone any smoother.

“We had a little private time away together with some friends, and I just decided it was the right time really,” William later recalled. “We’d been talking about marriage or a while, so it wasn’t a massively big surprise, but I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya.”

2011

Roughly six months after the engagement, William and Kate exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony inside Westminster Abbey. The wedding was viewed by close to 72 million people around the world.

Kate, of course, looked absolutely dazzling at the wedding and was named the Duchess of Cambridge following the ceremony. After a quick honeymoon, the couple settled into their new home inside Kensington Palace.

2013

Prince William and Kate Middleton only waited a few years into their marriage before they started having children. The couple announced their first pregnancy in the winter of 2012.

At the time, it was revealed that Kate suffers from hyperemesis gravidarum, which is basically a severe case of morning sickness. Kate would experience this illness on each of her subsequent pregnancies.

On July 22, 2013, Kate welcomed a healthy baby boy named Prince George. She also took part in a quick but adorable post-baby photoshoot shortly after the birth.

2015

In the fall of 2014, Kensington Palace once again announced the news that Kate was pregnant. The announcement came before Kate had reached the 12th week of her pregnancy, however, as her morning sickness was becoming too much to keep quiet.

On May 2, 2015, Kate Middleton gave birth to a daughter she and Prince William named Princess Charlotte. At the time of her birth, Charlotte became the fourth person in line to the throne, following Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George.

Charlotte is the first person to take on the title of Princess in the past two decades. She is also the highest-ranking female in the line of succession.

This Is Prince William’s Biggest Worry About His Children

All parents worry – it is simply part of the job. We are concerned for their safety, their health, their happiness and much more. As everyone with children is well aware, we are the role models for our kids. The royals are no exception to this rule. They may be little princes and princesses, but the children of Britain’s royal family are just trying to navigate their way all while being in the public eye.

For Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s children, it is actually slightly tougher than it is for the rest of us. Every move they make is talked about and often criticized. They may be the future king and queen, but to George, Charlotte, and little Louis, William and Kate are simply Mommy and Daddy. It is obvious that parenthood is a completely separate journey than royal life is. So, what is Prince William’s biggest worry about his children?

It seems like not long ago that Prince William was just a child himself, running around the grounds of Kensington Palace along with his little brother, Prince Harry. Their mother, the late Princess Diana, doted on the two boys, and we enjoyed watching William grow up and have new experiences in life. Before we knew it, the young prince was going off to college, where he met, and eventually married Kate Middleton.

A few years later, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their appearance as a family of three when they emerged on the front steps of the hospital holding newborn Prince George. Shortly after, they welcomed a daughter, Princess Charlotte. The members of the public were delighted when it was announced that Kate was expecting again, and the third Cambridge child, Prince Louis was born on April 23, 2018.

For most of us, family experiences are private, shared with those who are close to us. Everything from birthday gatherings to the first day of school is usually an intimate event and is certainly not watched by the entire world. For the royals, it is just the opposite. Whenever the Cambridge family so much as goes out in public, photographers are in a frenzy, just waiting to get the perfect shot.

Although The Sun reports that Prince Louis’s christening was a “small affair,” people lined up in the streets to catch a glimpse of the royals on their special day. It was the same on Princess Charlotte’s first day of school. According to Harper’s Bazaar, the cameras were going off like crazy as the young royal, along with her older brother George, made their way into Thomas’s Battersea to begin the academic year.

As we can see, the Cambridge kids have pretty extraordinary lives. However, this doesn’t stop William and Kate from worrying about their kids. What is Prince William’s biggest worry? Express reports the future king is most concerned about the future of his children.

William recently made statements saying there is “no negotiation” about his family and that he is very dedicated to his role as a dad. Will wants to raise his kids to be “good people” who take their duties “very seriously.” He is adamant about spending time with his kids so they can learn the values that he is trying to teach them.

Although George, Charlotte, and Louis are still very young, we have to say that William and Kate definitely have them on the right path to becoming the best that they can be!

THERE is no end to things that a prince could get up to in his spare time, but when it comes to Prince William there’s nothing better than a nap.

The Duke of Cambridge has admitted that being a dad-of-three is so tiring that any spare moment he has is used to sleep.

William, 37, made the admission to singer Eric Clapton at a 30th anniversary dinner for the London Air Ambulance on Thursday.

According to Hello! when Eric asked the royal about his hobbies, William said: “With the children it’s quite hard to get the time off.

“Any free time I do get I sleep!”

This is not the first time that the Duke has spoken about his lack of sleep when it comes to fatherhood.

In May, when congratulating his brother Prince Harry on the birth of his son Archie, he said: ““I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my brother to the sleep deprivation society that is parenting.”

And in April last year, the Duke was pictured struggling to keep his eyes open in Westminster Abbey, two days after the birth of his youngest Louis.

He could be seen dropping his head momentarily and closing his eyes, before jerking himself awake during the hour long Anzac Day service.

When it comes to their parenting style the Cambridges have always wanted their children “to live in the real world” an expert revealed.

“Kate has always wanted the children to live in the real world,” a royal source says. “She and William don’t want them to live in a gilded bubble. They want them to grow up having the same experiences as other kids.”

By her own admission it hasn’t always been easy. After Charlotte’s birth, Kate revealed: “Becoming a mother has been such a rewarding and wonderful experience. However, at times it has also been a huge challenge – even for me, who has support at home that most mothers do not.

“Nothing can really prepare you for the sheer overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined in some unexpected festivities today, on the fourth day of their royal tour of Pakistan. While visiting SOS Children’s Village in Lahore, a charity that supports and cares for over 150 children, Kate and Prince William had a chance to celebrate three of its young residents’ birthdays.

The royal couple sang happy birthday to Iman, 12, Ibrahim, 6, and Daniyal, 8, who were all fêting their big days. Afterward, they helped them cut the cake, and the Duchess gave a speech.

“It’s very nice to meet the Prince and Princess,” Iman told reporters, per People. “I am so happy and thankful to have them to celebrate my birthday.”

Kate began her speech in Urdu, saying “Assalam O Alaikum. Emaan, Ibrahim aur Daniyal apni salgirah pur bulanay ka bohat shukria.” She then went on to commend the work SOS Children’s Village was doing. (Advocating for children’s welfare is one of the Duchess’s signature causes.)

“We have been really moved and touched by what we have seen, and by the happy home you have made,” Kate said, per the Daily Mail. “I’m aware that many of you have experienced extremely difficult times in your lives. But it is inspiring to see how you have used your strength and positivity to help transform the lives of so many young children here.”

She added, “Earlier this year I talked about the fact that it takes a village to raise a child. The village we have seen here today is the best representation of that ideal that I could have possibly imagined.”

The organization’s approach works, according to Umma Kashmir, 39, who was left at the village when she was three months old. “I was here for 25 years and am now married with three children and I have done my Ph.D. and lecture at university in management sciences,” she told reporters.

Prince William and Princess Kate have announced the name of their third child: Louis Arthur Charles.

The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge, Kensington Palace said in a statement.

William and Kate chose with their third child, and second son, to include two parts of William’s name, William Arthur Philip Louis. The newborn’s older brother, Prince George, also has Louis in his name, George Alexander Louis.

The name Louis, pronounced Lou-ee, is a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, the uncle of Prince Philip and a cousin of Queen Elizabeth.

Mountbatten, a mentor to Louis’s grandfather, Prince Charles, was killed in a bombing by the IRA in 1979 in Ireland.

Charles once called Mountbatten the “grandfather I never had.”

“In August 1979 my much loved great-uncle Lord Mountbatten was killed alongside his young grandson and my godson Nicholas and his friend Paul Maxwell and Nicholas’s grandmother, the dowager Lady Brabourne,” Charles said in 2015. “At the time I could not imagine how we would come to terms with the anguish of such a deep loss, since for me Lord Mountbatten represented the grandfather I never had.”

The baby’s full name not only includes a nod to Charles, but may also pay tribute to a beloved royal photographer.

Arthur Edwards is a legendary photographer who has covered the royal family since 1977. When William and Kate left St. Mary’s Hospital with Louis on Monday, they looked for Edwards in the crowd of photographers and asked for him by name.

The brief moment led royal watchers to speculate that Arthur, which is also a royal name, could be a part of the newborn’s name.

One surprise in William and Kate’s name choice was the absence of the name Philip, which would have been a tribute to Louis’s great-grandfather. The couple may be leaving the option of using the name to Prince Harry, who will wed Meghan Markle on May 19.

Prince Louis, who was born at 11:01 a.m. local time on April 23, is now fifth in line to the throne behind Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Kate departed St. Mary’s Hospital for Kensington Palace just hours after giving birth, posing upon her departure with William and their son.

St. Mary’s Hospital is where Kate also gave birth to her older children, George, 4, and Charlotte, who turns 3 on May 2.

William and Kate revealed George’s name — George Alexander Louis — two days after his July 22, 2013, birth.

Royal children usually get three names and are often named after former monarchs. George was named after Queen Elizabeth’s beloved father, King George, who died when she was just 26-years-old.

Charlotte’s name — Charlotte Elizabeth Diana – was announced two days after her May 2, 2015, birth.

When Charlotte was named, the couple selected family names. Charlotte is the middle name of Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, and the feminine version of Charles. Charlotte’s middle names, Elizabeth Diana, honor her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and grandmother, the late Princess Diana of Wales.

For their third child, William and Kate may have decided to wait for a few days to announce his name until they had a chance to introduce the baby prince to Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth has been in Windsor, away from Buckingham Palace, and Prince Charles has been out of the country on royal engagements.

It is also possible that William and Kate were just struggling with what to name their new baby and whom they would like to honor. William had expressed his desire that the baby have a “strong name.”

When William was born on June 21, 1982, his parents didn’t reveal his name until one week later. Prince Charles was a month old before his name was made public.

William’s brother, Prince Harry, has been an exception. His name was announced on the day he was born.

On Monday, mere hours after giving birth to a human being, Kate Middleton emerged from the absolutely wild Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, in a red Jenny Packham dress and heels — along with her third child (a new baby boy) and husband Prince William.

This isn’t the first time Middleton appeared looking picture-perfect after giving birth. Shortly after her first child Prince George’s arrival in 2013, Middleton and Prince William were photographed leaving the hospital, while she looked stunning in a blue summer dress. The same thing happened after the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2015.

Middleton and Prince William stepped out of the hospital with the new baby on Monday (whose birth is historic as his arrival doesn’t impact Princess Charlotte’s spot in line to the throne) and posed for some truly Hallmark-ready photographs with their little boy. Then, they ventured back inside to gather their belongings and put the baby in his carseat, before venturing out once again, placing the baby properly in the car, and then driving off toward Kensington Palace.

As this is their third child, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were absolute pros this time around — showing that they’re far less nervous around newborns than they were when Prince George arrived, which is completely understandable. However, Prince William did say, “Thrice the worry,” before the trio took off in their car.

We can’t wait to see the first pics of the new family of five together for the first time — or perhaps see them in person if we ever get an invite to brunch at Kensington Palace (we are available, Kate!!!)

The latest royal baby has arrived.

Meghan Markle, who is married to Britain’s Prince Harry, gave birth to the couple’s first child early Monday. The baby boy weighed in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces. His name hasn’t yet been announced.

The baby is “very healthy,” Harry told reporters later in the day, adding that “mother and baby are doing incredibly well.”

“It’s been the most amazing experience that I could ever possibly imagine,” the giddy new father said. “How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled.”

Harry was “present for the birth” at 5:26 a.m. local time, Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

The palace added that royal family members “have been informed and are delighted by the news.” Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is with the couple at Frogmore Cottage in Berkshire, and the palace says she is “overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild.”

Harry said the couple hasn’t yet decided on a name for their son, as NPR’s Frank Langfitt reports. The family will live at Frogmore, which is near Windsor Castle — the queen’s weekend home outside London and the site of the couple’s wedding.

The pregnancy had been shrouded in an unusual degree of secrecy. Buckingham Palace did not disclose where Meghan would give birth or precisely when she was due.

Some fans of the royals said they were thrown into a tizzy every time the couple’s Instagram account posted a new photo, thinking it was a baby announcement. Commenters posted looking for hints: “A lot of blue going on in these photos. … could it be a boy??????”

Buckingham Palace had hinted previously that Meghan and Harry would break from the recent tradition of posing for photos with the new baby outside the hospital. Instead, Harry and Meghan would share the news “once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton have three children: George, Charlotte and Louis.

Meghan and Harry’s baby is now seventh in the line of succession to the British throne. First is Prince Charles, followed by Prince William, his children, then Prince Harry and now the latest little bundle of Windsor joy.

Meghan and Harry, also known as the duchess and duke of Sussex, were married in May 2018. The former actress has brought new excitement to the royal family and a sense of change.

Many oddsmakers had their money on Meghan giving birth to a girl, and predicted Diana, Grace and Elizabeth as likely names.
