I’ve always wanted a trademark lipstick like Taylor Swift’s—a “red lip, classic thing” that immediately registers as mine. It didn’t necessarily have to be red. Any shade would do, if it had the elusive 24/7 wearability of a so-called signature.

Singling out a lipstick I’d want to wear day in and day out—and that spoke to who I am at the same time—became my beauty obsession early this year. Like a freshman at college orientation, I took a “try everything once” approach to my hunt. I’ve tested cherry and candy-apple reds; “universal” nudes with mauve and orange undertones; and, in a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina–inspired moment of edginess, matte blacks and dark blues. Lipstick speed dating introduced me to shades I wouldn’t have sampled otherwise, but they felt more like occasion lipsticks than everyday picks.

On the other side of those tests, I knew the most “me” shade would fall somewhere between a nude and a pink. It had to be both polished and a little preppy—something that says I get my inspiration from pop singers (see above) and Kate Spade editorials. I eventually turned to the Glamour beauty team for lipstick guidance and got an immediate recommendation: Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in a shade called Pillow Talk.

Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed by the light mauve pink in the tube. This? This is the lipstick people rave about? While the packaging was beautiful, the color itself didn’t seem like anything extraordinary. Then I put it on.

Mattes I had tested on my lipstick journey had left my lips flaky and dry. Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick glided on with a cashmere softness on the first try. I couldn’t believe the quality. No, really—just look at the slacks I sent our beauty associate, Bella, about it.

It was love at first swipe.

Out of the tube, the tone has a subtle glow. One coat enhances my natural lip color; two or three more, and I have a pink lip that’s just shy of a berry tone. In other words, it’s exactly what I was looking for.

After that first test, I started wearing Pillow Talk every day. Most mornings I swipe on two coats of it and get moving. When I have more time, I first line my lips and and fill in with the corresponding Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Lip Liner. That “undercoat” adds a hint of volume—and with the extra grip, my lipstick doesn’t budge through my morning and afternoon coffees.

It’s way too easy to get sucked into Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick. That shiny, feminine rose gold bullet is so stunning that simply pulling it out of your handbag or seeing it on your vanity makes you feel extra special. I’m a sucker for pretty packaging, so naturally, I was drawn to the brand. Over the past several years, my Charlotte Tilbury collection has grown to include quite a variety of her products. My recent brand review is here if you’d like to see my thoughts on the best and worst from the Charlotte Tilbury line. Since I’ve acquired six Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks over the past year and love every single one of them, I wanted to share them with you.

There are currently three categories in the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick collection: K.I.S.S.I.N.G, Hot Lips and Matte Revolution.

K.I.S.S.I.N.G.

For her K.I.S.S.I.N.G. formula, Charlotte uses extracts from her exclusive Lipstick Tree that protect lips from UV damage & oxidative stress to leave them hydrated and soft. These lipsticks have light-diffusing pigments to give a multi-dimensional effect that leaves them looking fuller and more supple. This is my favorite Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick formula. I love how creamy it is and how hydrated it makes my lips feel.

MATTE REVOLUTION

This formula contains both Lipstick Tree & orchid extracts to hydrate, soften and protect lips so your lips stay soft, younger looking and healthy. The 3D glowing pigments create a lit-from-within illusion that makes lips appear wider and fuller. A blend of triglycerides, oils and waxes helps pigment glide onto the lips and last a long time.

HOT LIPS

Charlotte’s Hot Lips line includes both her Matte Revolution and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. formulas. It features 12 iconic lipstick shades featuring some of the world’s most inspiring celebrity women.

REVIEWS AND SWATCHES

BITCH PERFECT (K.I.S.S.I.N.G)

Bitch Perfect is not only my favorite Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick, it’s also one of my favorite nude lipsticks of all time. I will definitely be repurchasing this one! It’s the most beautiful, muted nude with peach, warm undertones. I find this to be a super flattering nude on many people. Because it’s cut with peach, you don’t get the dead look many nude lipsticks give. It goes with everything from daytime looks to smokey eyes.

Kim KW (Hot Lips)

I can’t recall if Kim KW was sent to me or if I ordered this one. This is what you think of when you think of “nude lips’ ala Kim Kardashian. It’s true to the shade she made famous. This is a light nude that still has a bit of pink and peach in it so it doesn’t completely wash you out. But since It’s a bit too pale for my own personal taste, I do like to wear a lip liner under it.

Super Cindy (Hot Lips)

When I first bought Super Cindy, I thought it might be too orange for my taste. But it’s really a great warm medium nude with an almost coral undertone that’s not coral (you’ll see what I mean as you scroll down). This is a great everyday, go-with-anything, staple lipstick shade. Perfect to throw on for work, for a party…with jeans, with a dress…the staple anytime-anywhere lipstick that everyone needs.

Coachella Coral (K.I.S.S.I.N.G)

Charlotte Tilbury Coachella Coral is the most stunning creamy coral with a pink undertone. If you like corals in the spring/summer, you should definitely pick this one up! I can’t get enough of this one when the weather turns warm!

Bond girl (Matte Revolution)

I don’t wear deep lipsticks often. So when I saw how deep Bond Girl was, I automatically thought I would’t wear this one. But it’s surprisingly wearable! I find this to be true with all of the lipsticks I’ve ever tested or tried from her line. There’s something about them that’s just flattering. Bond Girl is a natural muted berry without being bright or too deep. It’s subtle and beautiful and a perfect shade for fall.

Walk of Shame (Matte Revolution)

Walk of Shame is another Charlotte Tilbury deep shade that I didn’t think I’d like but ended up loving. I’d describe it as a muted rosy red with slight berry undertones. It’s actually a great shade to wear if you’re a bit gun shy about wearing red lipstick but want to move in that direction with something that’s a bit more muted. I love that I can wear this to work or out at night and it’s perfectly appropriate for either occasion.

LIP CHEAT

I thought I’d throw in the two Lip Cheats I have as well. I love and wear both shades regularly to even out my lip line, make my lips look fuller and to fill them in lightly before going in with my lip product. I show a demo in this video. Iconic Nude is used with my neutral/nude/brown-toned lipsticks while Pillow Talk is used with my pink and rose lipstick shades.

How many iconic lipsticks do you know by their shade name? I bet Pillow Talk is probably one of the few that came to your mind first.

These impressive stats and the craze about this lipstick raises a question: Â why this product is such a phenomenon?

Pillow Talk: One Size Fit All Nude Shade

First of all, for sure, the Pillow Talk shade is what makes this lipstick so popular. This universal nude shade for this lipstick was created to match beloved lip liner Lip Cheat in PillowTalk. After the lipstick was so warmly welcomed by people of Hollywood and beyond, Charlotte Tilbury launches Pillow Talk makeup collection that now includes blush and a 4-shade eyeshadow palette.

Speaking of the shade in more details, Pillow Talk can be described as “nude pink” as this flattering shade features equal parts of beige and pink 3D glowing pigments. These special 3D pigments make your lips visibly larger, so don’t expect the lipstick to be dull matte on your lips.

Perhaps, exactly these pigments make the lipstick work across different complexions. If you look a little closer to the photographs from red carpet moments, with close up portraits of celebrities placed next to each other, you’ll see that the color ranges from beige nude with yellowish undertones to pink nude and even mauve.

Charlotte Tilbury, 2017

Despite the magical effect of the lipstick, there is also another side of the coin. The flexibility of Pillow Talk creates confusion for people who are shopping online  – at least, this is what negative reviews are saying.

Some reviewers are blaming the incorrect color presentation online, while some people express frustration about the shade not working for them.

www.charlottetilbury.com

I decided to try it myself to see how it works for me.

Pillow Talk Magic

When I first swatched the lipstick and applied it on my lips, I thought that Pillow Talk has yellowish beige undertones. Next time I applied this lipstick, I noticed more mauve undertones to it.

After a small research, I found a line on Charlotte’s website stating that “Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk enhances the natural hue of your lips“. This statement reminded me of Tom Ford’s Lumiere Lip that adapts to your pH level and enhances your natural lip shade.

I’m not sure if Pillow Talk also changes the color following the same chemistry, however, I have a couple of thoughts about it. They are hypothetical, meaning they might not be true, but since they logically make sense, I’ll just leave them here for you.

If you know for sure what is behind this magic, please, leave it in the comments down below! Everyone would be happy to read it!

Coverage

First of all, we need to consider the coverage of the lipstick, which is rather light than full and opaque. Even though you can build up coverage of the lipsticks, the pigment in your lips or lip pencil is likely to see through.

In my understanding, the undertone of your lips, the amount of color in your natural lips or the undertone of the lip pencil underneath will determine the exact undertone of Pillow Talk on your lips.

Since the shade has equal parts of beige and pink pigment, the color adapts to your lip color, picking the predominant undertone.

Ambient Light

Apart from the coverage, I believe that the ambient light also plays an important role in the way Pillow Talk show on your lips. Since the lipstick features 3D glow pigments, they are reflecting the available light for the plumper effect. If the light is on a cooler side, it will look pinkish, if the light is yellow, Pillow Talk is likely to be beige. To support this hypothesis, I’d add that the first time I was applying the lipstick in the evening in my bathroom with yellow light, the second time I applied it on a gloomy morning in front of the window.

Comparing Pillow Talk to other lipsticks in my collection

Here are some quick swatches to compare my favorite nude lipsticks that I’m currently coveting. When you compare Pillow Talk to other lip colors in my collection, you can clearly see that it has more neutral undertones.

Packaging

Each Matte Revolution lipstick comes in a prettiest rose gold metal bullet and I honestly can’t get enough of it. At the same time, it is surprisingly lightweight, even lighter than my favorite Chanel Allure Velvet.

Pillow Talk, along with other lipsticks from Matte Revolution, features an angled square shape of the lipstick tip, that repeats the shape of a brush and makes it so easy to apply the lipstick right from the bullet.

Formula and How To Use

The formula of this matte lipstick feels soft and creamy, however, some people complain about it being drying. Most of the matte lipsticks are usually more on a drier end. Even though Pillow Talk is quite creamy and smooth, the lipstick might get in the lines if the lips are not prepped with the scrub. Nevertheless, this is normal and happens with most of the matte lipsticks and here is what I recommend doing.

Start by scrubbing your lips gently and applying a lip balm. Let it sit for a few minutes and then blot it with a tissue, following with the lipstick. I like to apply Sensai Lip treatment before my lipsticks. Alternatively, using M.A.C. Prep + Prime lip primer is also a good idea.

Pillow Talk lipstick has a subtle vanilla scent to it, which is not overwhelming and you won’t really taste it on your lips.

Despite the marketed “long-lasting formula” do not expect the lipstick to last all day – it is easy to leave lip stains on cups and glasses. Nevertheless, its compact packaging and comfortable tip make it super easy to reapply the lipstick throughout the day.

In addition to this, filling your lips with lip pencil before applying the lipstick will extend the wear of the lipstick – it is a really good trick that works with most of the lipsticks.

Here are the recommendations on use from Charlotte Tilbury:

-Begin by applying Lip Cheat liner (sold separately).
-To dial up your look, and even longer staying power, fill your lips with the lip liner.
-Apply Matte Revolution straight from the bullet for fuller, wider lips. The unique square tip applicator provides precision when applying.

Pro tip:

-For extra definition, add a touch of Magic Away! Concealer (sold separately) to the Cupid’s Bow.
-Layer the Hollywood Beauty Light Wand in Spotlight highlighter (sold separately) on top lip to brighten the lip.

Ingredients

This product is gluten-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, and not tested on animals.

Here is the detailed list of ingredients:

Overall, the list of ingredients looks surprisingly really good, except for preservatives (Dimethicone and BHT) and conditioning agent (Tocopheryl Acetate). I’m a little concerned about BHT, however, as you might already know, the position of the ingredients determines the concentration. With that being said, the concentration of BHT is likely to be very small to cause harm that may occur with high doses.

Did you know: this lipstick is formulated with Achiote seed extract (Â Bixa Orellana Seed Extract) also known as Lipstick Tree. The seeds were used by native Americans to make red body paint and lipstick, and also as a spice. This is why this shrub is sometimes called Lipstick Tree.

Price

The retail price for the Pillow Talk lipstick is $34.00, which is way less than Tom Ford lipsticks and slightly more affordable than my favorite Chanel and Pat Mcgrath Labs.

Is Pillow Talk worth the hype?

My answer would be YES! I love the idea of wearing personalized lipstick shade. Besides, the neutral undertones of this nude lipstick are very versatile. I can use it both for no-makeup makeup look and for the night look pairing it with more dramatic eye makeup. It is important to mention, that I’m limited neither to cool nor warm undertones and I can easily pair it with any makeup shade.

In addition to this, the lipstick feels comfortably on the lips. Its gorgeous, sleek and lightweight packaging along with comfortable lipstick tip makes it travel and clutch friendly.

Behind-The-Scenes

I wish I have taken behind-the-scenes pictures for this product! I was rushing for the sun that was setting down and completely forgot about it.

All the sun rays and the reflections that you see on the images are real, without post-production. The set up was pretty easy: the sunlight (roughly 1h before the sunset) from behind and the reflector to light up the lipstick.

I love adding sparkles and sun rays to my images, especially, when they are part of the story. For Pillow Talk lipstick with 3D glow pigments, adding some sparkles sounded like a good idea.

To get this kind of sparkles, look for the reflective side or point on your subject, and increase the F-stop to F/11 and higher. Usually, the higher the better, but don’t forget about challenges that high aperture numbers pose – I shared them in my previous post. For these pictures I used F/16.

The only problem I had with these pictures is the wrong cap placement. For some reason, I was assured that this is exactly how Charlotte Tilbury logo looks…until the moment I’ve realized that it’s not a symbolic logo “.D_” resembling letter D, but it is actually “CT” initials. However, it was too late as I/m already using the lipstick, and it’s no longer in that brand new pristine condition… Sorry, Charlotte!

Anyways, I really like the end results! What do you think?

Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Review 2019: Is Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Safe?

When the founder of a cosmetic brand has worked closely with pretty much every celebrity you have heard of and with almost every major high-end beauty brand, there’s a fairly good chance that her own makeup line is going to be pretty awesome.

Enter Charlotte Tilbury, sought-after celebrity beauty artist, mom of two and founder of Charlotte Tilbury Cosmetics, which is based in the UK but is popular worldwide. She’s been hooked on makeup since her early teenage years and has never looked back since.

Charlotte Tilbury Company Background & History Explained

Charlotte Tilbury Background

The now uber-famous Charlotte Tilbury brand was founded by its namesake in 2013, but it really started years ago with a tube of mascara. Charlotte Tilbury was 13 years old when she put on mascara for the first time, and, in her words, “it changed my life” when she saw how differently people treated her when she wore makeup, and how beautiful she felt – something most women can relate to.

I know many women (myself most certainly included!) who will not leave the house if they haven’t got their basic makeup on because even a little makeup completely changes how you look and feel. Charlotte understood this, and realised that every woman just wants to look her most beautiful self – and her makeup reflects that.

Her first foray into the cosmetic industry was with Mary Greenwell, who was Princess Diana’s makeup artist and who encouraged Charlotte to study makeup at London’s Glauca Rossi School of MakeUp, which began her beauty career.

She has worked with an extensive list of celebrities as well as cosmetics companies like Burberry, MAC, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, among many others, amassing 23 years of experience in the beauty industry before starting her own makeup line.

The brand has a huge following across all platforms of social media – Charlotte Tilbury’s channel on YouTube has 508, 508 subscribers, and has 1.5 million followers on Instagram. She has been featured in the Vogue, Love Magazine, and Vanity Fair, and her company is only continuing to gain popularity.

Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Products Overview

Charlotte Tilbury is a luxury beauty brand which produces all kinds of makeup for every part of your face, skin, and eyes, as well as perfume and makeup tools and brushes.

Charlotte Tilbury Bar Of Gold Highlighter Review

Bar Of Gold

If you like the natural, ‘lit-from-within’ look that so many are trying to achieve these days, you’ll love this highlighter. While the box can appear kind of cheap since it’s made from cardboard, I love how the actual product looks like a bar of gold, and it looks beautiful as a highlighter.

The Bar of Gold highlighter gives a gorgeous, soft sheen. It’s not one of those super-shiny highlighters that you notice right away – you won’t distinguish it on its own on your face, but it completely enhances your makeover.

Although it does swatch as pretty opaque, don’t be scared off – over your makeup it comes out far more natural. If you like a whole lot of glow, you can build this up easily. It also photographs beautifully; you don’t look like you fell in glitter but it’s definitely there.

What I love about this highlighter is that it suits almost every skin type. Check out the Charlotte Tilbury website if you want an idea of how it will look on your skin – they have models of all different skin types wearing the highlighter to show you how it will look on you.

The downside of this product has to be the amount. The Bar of Gold Highlighter will set you back $42 for only 4.5 grams of product, which is definitely on the pricier side for a highlighter. However, a little goes a long way, and especially if you aren’t the sort who uses highlighter every day, this product will last you a while.

Charlotte Tilbury Mascara Line Review

Charlotte Tilbury Mascara.

Legendary Lashes Mascara – though this mascara is more expensive than I’d prefer to spend on a mascara, there’s no denying that it WORKS. The ingredients in this mascara work to strengthen your lashes and encourage growth.

Charlotte Tilbury has a short tutorial video on YouTube which shows you three different ways to apply this mascara for long, full, thick lashes, and it definitely lives up to those claims! The staying power of this mascara is also very decent, however, it’s a super-wet formula, so it’s likely to get onto your lid if you aren’t careful while applying it.

A lot of people have also experienced smudging with this mascara, so you might want to test it out first before you buy it to see if the formula works for you.

Full Fat Lashes Mascara – while it sounds like a contradiction to say that this mascara gives a false lash effect and a really soft, natural effect at the same time, I really can’t think of another way to describe this mascara. The Charlotte Tilbury website claims that this mascara has 5 functions: ‘Curls, separates, volumizes, lengthens, and dramatizes’ – and it truly does.

Due to the fact that this mascara completely separates the lashes with no clumping, because of its unique wand, it lends itself to a fluttery, natural effect with such fantastic length and volume that you won’t even need false lashes – which is precisely what I look for in a mascara.

It also feels soft on the lashes and is not too difficult to remove. It does flake quite a bit, which is disappointing, especially considering the price and that it is marketed as a high-end product (which it is), but I still think the pros far outweigh the one con for this mascara.

All in all, another fabulous product from one of the world’s most sought-after makeup artists.

Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream Review

Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream is a moisturizer which contains ingredients that are healthy for your skin, has anti-ageing properties and also contains SPF 15.

The downside is that while the jar with the rose gold lid that the cream is packaged in is certainly beautiful, its health benefits eventually diminish with time due to exposure to oxygen, which many people are not happy about. But, if you are not looking for a moisturizer with those added health benefits, then this won’t concern you.

Magic Cream works best on dry or normal skin. I personally have dry skin, and although the website does not specify which skin type it is most suited to, I have seen people with oily or combination skin complaining about breakouts from this cream.

It does have a dewy finish, which, while it works great to hydrate dry skin, might not be the best option for oily skin, especially for those who are prone to acne or breakouts. If you do not have dry or normal skin, I would recommend that you test this out first before buying the jar, since it is quite a significant purchase.

Magic Cream is very hydrating and super easy to apply. A little goes a long way, so although it’s expensive for a moisturiser, it will take you time to get through. If you have dry skin, it’ll do wonders for you, and while it’s probably a little too pricey, you’ll be able to understand the $92 price tag after trying it.

Your face is the canvas for your makeup, so keeping it hydrated and healthy is essential and can totally change your appearance and the look of your makeover. When I don’t take care of my skin, I can see patches of dryness through my foundation and especially concealer, which is not a good look.

A good moisturizer is as important, if not more than your staple makeup items, so it’s important to find one that works best for your skin. If your skin is dry or normal, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream might just become your favourite way to keep yourself looking your best.

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Line Review

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury produces four lipstick lines – and that’s not even counting lip gloss of lip liner.

I’m pretty sure everyone owns a nude lipstick – if you don’t, then you probably aren’t a lipstick person and don’t own any at all. That’s because nude lipstick is incredibly versatile; it looks great on all skin types, can be used daily for a light, natural look, and can be used to contrast dramatic eyes for a night out, so it’s pretty much a must-have.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Pillow Talk lip liner was super popular among celebrities, who begged her to create the colour in a lipstick as well. Now, you can find this beautiful, soft nude colour in a lipstick, also called Pillow Talk, which is fast becoming a favourite among celebrities of all ages and skin types.

It looks different on every person – but is equally stunning on everyone. It’s just one of those magical products that you can’t not love. Pillow Talk is just one of the lipsticks in Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution line. All Matte Revolution lipsticks have a soft matte finish and will last you at least a good few hours, even if you eat a light snack.

K.I.S.S.I.N.G is another one of Charlotte’s famous lipstick lines, and there are 13 shades of these lipsticks available. These lipsticks have decent staying power, although they aren’t long-lasting, and feel smooth and comfortable on the lips.

If you prefer liquid lipsticks, you’ll love Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Lips line (no need to explain why it’s called that). If anyone would know what’s popular in Hollywood, it’s Charlotte Tilbury. Many celebrities are not only her clients, also her friends.

It’s not the best formula for people with dry lips because liquid lipsticks, in general, tend to dry out the lips more. It might be a good idea to apply balm on top once this lipstick has set, and you should certainly moisturize your lips, if you are prone to dry or chapped lips. The Hollywood Lips lipsticks have a delicious vanilla scent that fades once applied and are creamy in texture.

And finally, there’s the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips collection. Most of these lipsticks are named after celebrities, such as Super Cindy, for Cindy Crawford, and Miranda May, inspired by Miranda Kerr. The formulas in the Hot Lips collection are either Matte Revolution or K.I.S.S.I.N.G, but in new, gorgeous shades.

Is Charlotte Tilbury Cruelty-Free? Does Charlotte Tilbury Test On Animals?

Charlotte Tilbury is a cruelty-free beauty brand, whose product are not sold in mainland China, where animal testing is required by law.

Where To Buy Charlotte Tilbury Products

Charlotte Tilbury products can be purchased from the official Charlotte Tilbury site, or from beauty sites like FeelUnique and Nordstrom. You can also visit Charlotte Tilbury stores around the US, England and Europe.

Conclusion

Honestly, it’s not surprising that Hollywood is crazy about Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup. The quality of her products is way up there, and there’s bound to be at least one that will fast become your favourite.

A Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream or Instant Eye Palette would make a great gift for a close friend or family member, and with Charlotte’s makeup, you can easily look your most beautiful self, every day.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar on The Go Review and Swatches

My love for Charlotte Tilbury makeup started with the purchase of her Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette and since then my collection keeps growing. So far I like everything from her makeup line, starting from the luxurious packaging ending with the actual product.

So when a package from Charlotte Tilbury arrived at my door I was so excited and literally jumped from joy :). There they were the Filmstar On The Go * palettes with their wonderful shiny rose gold packaging.

The Filmstar On The Go palettes contain two products, a cream eyeshadow and a cream lip & cheek product. Charlotte Tilbury created these palettes for easy and on the go application. First of all let’s talk about how wonderful the names are, they all come from popular movie classics.

The palette feels the same as the Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette but with smaller packaging. It has a big mirror which is pretty nice for on the go, I keep the palette that I use for the day in my bag for touchups and the mirror is a plus. The consistency of the cream eyeshadows is very nice, they blend easy and stay put through the day. They’re all metallic shades and are on the sheer side but you can build them up if you want more pigment. I use them with a primer like every eyeshadow and they don’t budge.

The cream lip and cheek product is my favorite part of the palette. It’s very rare to find a lips & cheek product that actually works for both. The consistency of the product is not sticky and doesn’t feel wet when applied on the cheeks. I like to apply and blend this with my fingers for a more natural look but you can also use a stippling brush if you don’t want to use your hands.

Filmstar On The Go in All About Eve

A sparkly green-brown eyeshadow and a baby pink lip & cheek product

Filmstar On The Go in Rebel Without A Cause

Gold eyeshadow with hot pink lip & cheek product

Filmstar On The Go in The Spy Who Loved Me

Rose gold eyeshadow with a berry lip & cheek product

My final verdict is that I really like the palettes, they’re great for those days when you want a more natural makeup and they’re very easy to use. All the shades are very wearable and will suit most skin tones. I also think the palettes will be perfect for summer cause they feel pretty light on the skin and give a nice glow to the face.

Have you tried any of the Filmstar On The Go palettes?

Outside of Eve’s husband Niko’s school, Villanelle slips the makeup into Eve’s bag. She’s close enough to kiss her—or perhaps slit her throat—but she resists the temptation, instead planting the clue and walking away.

” came from the brilliant brain of Emerald Fennell,” explained executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle in an email to T&C.

“Villanelle has Eve’s vanity, as well as a wicked sense of the absurd and the dark. She’s teasing Eve with clues about her crimes—narcissistically claiming them while at the same time demonstrating she can get close enough to kill Eve.”

The tube boldly boasts the name “Love in an Elevator,” a not-so-subtle reference to Richardson’s demise, and confirmation that Villanelle is in London.

“The fact it isn’t subtle is part of the humor for her,” Woodward Gentle says. “But it’s also not an unlikely name for a lip color!”

The red, too, is symbolic of the connection between the two women. Villanelle knows which shade would look best on Eve.

When Eve finally discovers the lipstick in her bag, at first glance, the tube looks very much like a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, albeit one with a few small adjustments. It’s something fans on Twitter were quick to point out.

Of course villanelle would use Charlotte tilbury lipstick #killingeve

But according to Woodward Gentle, the resemblance is a coincidence. She says the design of the tube, which was a collaboration between the art department and the director, Lisa Brühlmann, was more organic than that—they didn’t want it to represent a specific cosmetic brand.

” to be a stylish tube, suggesting taste and wealth and also encouraging Eve to try it on,” she says. “Villanelle knows Eve has a history of trying on things she had been gifted.”

Indeed, in season one, Villanelle returns Eve’s stolen suitcase, but only after she’s filled the luggage with her perfume and expensive clothes. Eve can’t help but try on the dress that Villanelle chose for her, and to spritz the assassin’s namesake scent in her bathroom.

Once again, Villanelle knows her target. Without spoiling things too much, Eve does try on the bold red lipstick, but she gets a bit more than she bargained for with the bullet.

Killing Eve airs Sunday nights on both AMC and BBC America at 8 p.m. eastern.

I vividly remember the first time I heard about Charlotte Tilbury makeup. One of my favorite YouTubers, Fleur de Force, was raving about the Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette, and I was immediately intrigued. At the time, the products weren’t available in the U.S., so I sat and drooled over Charlotte Tilbury’s gorgeous makeup tutorials and celebrity looks on her YouTube channel. Thankfully, the line had its U.S. launch a few years later, and I’ve been slowly but surely collecting this gorgeous makeup collection ever since!
So let’s get straight to the point. Is Charlotte Tilbury makeup worth the hype? ABSOLUTELY. Every Charlotte Tilbury product that I’ve tried is beautiful, high-quality, and easy to use. It just makes applying your makeup a breeze, and you like yourself- just amplified. While I haven’t tried every single product in the range, I’ve tried quite a bit. Today I’m sharing the best makeup from Charlotte Tilbury (of the products I’ve tried) as well as a cult-favorite skincare product!

The Best of Charlotte Tilbury Makeup

Charlotte’s Magic Cream

Charlotte’s Magic Cream* is the one product that’s always used in Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup tutorials. It’s a rich and luxurious moisturizer that gives your skin a heavenly glow and creates the perfect base for your foundation. I won’t lie. This stuff is not cheap, much like the entire Charlotte Tilbury makeup collection; however, heavy moisturizers in general aren’t cheap. Plus, it really does make your skin and makeup look phenomenal. If you’re looking for a pre-makeup moisturizer that will plump your skin, add a glow, and create a smooth base for your makeup, you won’t be disappointed in Charlotte’s Magic Cream.
If you just can’t bite the bullet on the full-size jar, be sure to check out the free gifts with purchase available at Nordstrom. I got my first jar as a VERY generous sample from a Charlotte Tilbury purchase at Nordstrom. You can also get a smaller jar in this gift set for a great price, or you can purchase the small size jar here.

Wonder Glow Instant Soft Focus Beauty Flash

Of all the Charlotte Tilbury products I’ve tried, I was honestly the least excited to test the Wonder Glow Instant Soft Focus Beauty Flash*. I live in Florida, so glowy primers aren’t usually my thing, but I could NOT have been more wrong about this product. In fact, it’s now one of my all-time favorite primers, and I’ve used it every single day I’ve worn makeup for the past few weeks. I simply apply a few dots of this primer across my face before applying my foundation and setting powder, and my complexion is instantly brightened without becoming shiny. It’s a glow without the sweaty look, and I’m obsessed. Plus, you can also wear it on top of your moisturizer on no-makeup days to get a glow that’s worthy of J-Lo.

Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder

The Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder* is ridiculously good, and you don’t have to take my word for it. EVERYONE in the beauty industry raves about it (even the queen of Youtube herself, Jaclyn Hill), and after trying it for myself, I now understand why. It’s incredibly finely-milled, super soft and smooth, and honestly creates a flawless finish. I use this powder underneath my eyes and across my face, and I’m blown away every time I use it. If you’re looking for a powder that will truly live up to its claims, definitely check out this phenomenal setting powder.

Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blush

Charlotte Tilbury’s signature blush application technique is “swish and pop.” You “swish” a gentle color across your entire cheekbone and then “pop” a bright color only onto the apples of your cheeks. To help the masses conquer her technique, she created the Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blush*, which features two shades that can be worn separately or together to brighten your complexion. The shade shown above is Ecstasy, and it’s the perfect everyday blush for light to medium complexions. The formula of this blush is smooth, buildable, and not too crazy pigmented, so you’ll never end up looking like a clown. Like the powder I just mentioned, I’ve literally never heard anything but rave reviews about this product, and it’s for good reason. It’s easy to use and makes your cheeks look angelic! See all of the shades in the collection here.

Filmstar Bronze & Glow Contour Duo

One of Charlotte Tilbury’s most famous products is the Filmstar Bronze & Glow Contour Duo*. After trying it myself, I can understand why. The bronzer/contour shade blends like a dream and gives a subtle contoured look without looking unnatural. The highlighter gives a creamy glow without being over-the-top blinding, and it’s absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a way to add structure to your face but don’t want a high-maintenance product, this palette is for you.

Lip Cheat Re-Size & Re-Shape Lip Liner

Another beauty cult favorite is the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Re-Size & Re-Shape Lip Liner in Pillow Talk. Literally everyone raves about this lip liner because it’s the perfect “your lips but better” shade that allows you to overline your lips to create the illusion of plumper lips. I bought the Pillow Talk lip liner last year, and it’s been a staple in my daily makeup routine ever since. Since then, I’ve added Supersize Me, Hot Gossip*, and Iconic Nude* to my lip liner collection, and they are all incredible colors. The lip liners are long-lasting and easy to apply, and the colors are just so wearable. Definitely an item to check out!
.

Matte Revolution Luminous Modern-Matte Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury clearly excels at making amazing lip products because her lipsticks are incredible. I wanted to mention her Matte Revolution Luminous Modern-Matte Lipsticks (10 shades available + 7 additional colors here) first because I really think they’re some of the best on the market. They feature the most beautiful rose gold packaging and have a formula that isn’t drying at all.
This is the shade Pillow Talk, which is an absolutely perfect pinky-nude shade. I own four shades overall and absolutely love them all. The colors are so wearable, and the formula is just perfect.

Here’s an up-close look at the shade The Queen. You can see what it looks like in this outfit post. It’s one of my all-time favorite shades!
Here’s the shade I used in my Instagram post – Amazing Grace*.

And finally, here’s the shade Love Liberty*.

K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick

If matte lipsticks aren’t your jam, the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick (10 shades + 2 additional colors here) might be right up your alley. This lipstick has a moisturizing formula and leaves a glossy finish, and the colors in the line are so gorgeous. I purchased a mini kit featuring three of these lipsticks and have loved using them! The formula is extremely comfortable, and all of the shades are very wearable. This red, So Marilyn, is one of my favorites for the holiday season. While the mini kits are currently sold, I’d absolutely repurchase the full-size version when I run out of these shades.
Penelope Pink is a gorgeous nude for a variety of skin tones.
The Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect is a pinky-nude shade with a cult following. LOVE this shade!
| Additional colors available here.

Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow

After I saw Charlotte Tilbury use her Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow in a Youtube tutorial, I knew I had to buy the shade Marie Antoinette. The formula is creamy and blends like a dream. You can wear it on its own or use it underneath your eye shadow, and honestly, both uses look phenomenal. This is BY FAR my favorite cream eyeshadow in my entire makeup collection, and I’m definitely looking into purchasing more in the coming year.

Color Chameleon Color Morphing Eyeshadow Pencil

Charlotte Tilbury’s Color Chameleon Color Morphing Eyeshadow Pencils* (available in 8 colors) are a gorgeous product to use as an eyeshadow base, easy eyeshadow look, or to line or accent your eyes. I own the shades Amber Haze and Champagne Diamonds, and they’re both extremely pretty. I don’t use eyeshadow pencils that frequently, but when I do, I reach for this formula. If you’re into easy looks or really like to smoke out your waterline, this product would be a great fit for you.
I like using Champagne Diamonds all over the eye or to highlight my inner eye corner and underneath my brow bone, but I will warn you, it does have very small pieces of glitter. It has never irritated my eye at all, but I know some people just aren’t a fan of wearing glitter! Out of the two shades I own, this one is my favorite.
.

Luxury Palette Colour-Coded Eyeshadow Palette

I’ve heard mixed reviews about these palettes, but here’s my opinion. The Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Colour-Coded Eyeshadow Palettes* are basically fool-proof. All of the quads (available in 8 color combinations) are easy to use and feature colors that are complimentary. The formula blends like a dream and never looks overpowering. The colors are long-lasting and flattering, and they just make your eyes look pretty in no time.
They pack the perfect amount of color, so you’re never going to grab too much and have a crazy-intense look. They’re wearable and buildable, so you can apply a sheer coat for a wash of color or layer the shade to get more intensity. If you’re in the market for an easy-to-wear everyday eyeshadow palette that can be worn during the day or at night, I think you’re going to LOVE the Dolce Vita and Golden Goddess (broken palette in the photo) palettes!
.

The Feline Flick Quick Fine Line Shodo Pen

I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a liquid eyeliner snob. I am very picky about the shape of my liquid eyeliners, and Charlotte Tilbury got it just right with her The Feline Flick Quick Fine Line Shodo Pen*. The shape and density of the eyeliner make it easy to create the perfect cat eye wing.
The formula is rich, black, and applies without pulling at your eyelid. While it is very long-lasting, it’s not waterproof or super smudge-proof, so if you have watery eyes, this liner wouldn’t be a great choice. I personally love it and will absolutely use this entire tube!

Legendary Lashes Volume 2 Mascara

A few years back, Charlotte Tilbury created her Legendary Lashes mascara* which shook up the beauty scene. It has an incredibly volumizing formula that layers to plump up your lashes far more than any other mascara that I own. If you love false-looking, super-thick, and slightly clumpy lashes like me, Legendary Lashes is gonna be your new favorite.
With that being said, the original Legendary Lashes mascara tended to smudge on some people because of the buildable and waxy formula. I honestly never had that issue, but I can understand why it bugged some people. Thankfully, Charlotte has released Legendary Lashes Mascara Volume 2 to remedy that issue, and IT IS AWESOME.
So here’s the deal, if you like fluffy, light, and natural-looking lashes, you are not going to like this mascara; however, if you are like me and prefer your lashes to be as big and dramatic as possible, you are going to start hoarding this mascara. One coat will give you more volume than 5 coats of most mascaras on the market. Seriously. It packs a LOT of product on the brush, so be prepared for some drama!
If you want the volume without the slightly clumpy look (which I love), you can use a finer-toothed mascara wand like this one (super affordable) after wards to brush out any clumps. If you want a slightly less dramatic look that’s still voluminous and defined, Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara is a great pick. It’s a fabulous mascara, but I just prefer an extra-dramatic lash.

So which Charlotte Tilbury makeup products should I buy first?

I honestly have not been disappointed by any Charlotte Tilbury products, so I genuinely believe these formulas are worth the money. They make applying your makeup and creating a glamorous look so easy, and all of the shades are specifically designed to be flattering on EVERY skin tone.
With that being said, these products aren’t cheap, so you’re not going to want to replace your entire makeup kit in one purchase. My top three Charlotte Tilbury favorites are definitely this mascara, this powder, and this lip liner (in either Pillow Talk or Supersize Me), but I’m telling you, it’s hard to go wrong with this line.

Charlotte Tilbury’s new Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation has a lot of features. It has AirCool™! MossCellTec™! C.T. DEFENCE™! Magic REPLEXIUM®! And it allegedly BOOSTS HYDRATION by up to 216 percent. But the bottom line is that it’s a full-coverage, matte foundation that’s good enough for Lady Fame and Joan Collins, and it comes in 44 shades. Several New York Magazine staffers took all those fancy features for a test run. Here are their thoughts.

Erica Smith, Beauty Writer

I’ve disclosed it once, I’ll disclose it again: I still don’t wear foundation, so trying a full-coverage matte one was a journey. A professional make-up artist matched me to a shade called 9 Cool and applied it to my face, and the only way I could describe the result was “a member of a wedding party about to take a bunch of pictures outside.” Which is great if that’s what you’re going for! If you want airbrushed, this will get you airbrushed. It has a refreshing cooling effect and a skin-care-like scent. And when it came time to remove my makeup, there was a lot left on my face, leading me to believe this really “stays all day and night” as the bottle proclaims.

I later tried a more minimal application (pictured) which felt a little more wearable, but as a foundation-phobe who doesn’t really like being matte, this was still a bit much for me. If I had to wear a foundation, I’d probably end up going with something that’s already sheer and more glowy, like the Armani Luminous Silk one we tried.

Jane Larkworthy, Beauty-Editor-at-Large

Charlotte Tilbury likes to use the word “magic” in her products (Magic Cream, Magic Vanish, Magic Away). I’m so stunned by how great this foundation makes my skin look, I feel like not calling it “magic” is a missed opportunity.

In any event, my shade, Neutral 3, blends kind of perfectly into my skin while covering its flaws in a veil of youth. Its ability to even out my tone, dispel all red blotches, diminish dark spots and make me look less tired is pretty darn impressive. The amount of foundation that travels to the insides of my eyeglass frames proves just how opaque this stuff is, but I just carry an extra chamois in my glass case.

The only bummer is that it’s not clean. I’ve been trying to use only green and sustainable foundations, so I will probably save this for important days, like when I have presentations or grown-up things like that, because it definitely makes me feel more polished. Does it make my skin feel 216 percent more hydrated? No. Maybe somewhere around 50 percent … and for my non-millennial skin, any extra hydration is appreciated.

Indya Brown, Fashion Partnerships Editor

There are so many shades in this foundation range that it took me a while to nail down mine. Ultimately I chose 15 Neutral. Just one pump gave me enough for a full face with full coverage, and happily, I didn’t have to reapply powder to touch up.

Usually I apply a million primers and smoothers before foundation, but I like that this one eliminates the need for prep because you get pretty smooth coverage already. It may be too heavy for everyday, but I can see myself using this when I need to look extra cherubic and glowing before big events.

Hunter Harris, Vulture Staff Writer

I’ve always had trouble matching a foundation to my skin tone, so when I find something good, I try to stick with it as long as possible. This Charlotte Tilbury foundation was a great color match (I used 9 Warm) and I’ve added it to my rotation.

It’s definitely for fuller-coverage days. I tried using the minimal amount that I typically wear, but it looked better when I put a little more on. Still, it goes on light, and I only needed one pump of product. It really did keep my skin hydrated! Sometimes, because I exfoliate a lot, I get a few flakes mid-day, but that was never a problem with this foundation.

It stayed put during a random heatwave and didn’t oxidize after a full day of wear. I used a foundation brush to pat it on and warmed up my forehead and jawline with a Fenty bronzer. The best part: I wore this stuff to a full day of work, to an event, and dinner after, and I only touched up my concealer. The friend I was eating with stopped me mid-bite to say: “Your skin is luminous.” After eight hours of wear!

Sarah Spellings, Fashion Writer

I was matched to Shade 5 Cool, and I think it’s a great match for me — it sounds so silly to say, but it’s actually the color of my face. It goes on cooling, which is pleasant but doesn’t last too long. I didn’t notice any visible hydration benefits, but maybe those come later?

It’s definitely noticeable that I’m wearing a full face of makeup — something I almost never do — but it blends in seamlessly and I think only I can tell the difference.

Kathleen Hou, Beauty Director

If you want your skin to have the perfection of an airbrushed doll, this is for you. This is a long wear, full-coverage matte foundation (I’m Shade 5 Warm) that makes your skin look like you’re a fancy cyborg worthy of being sent out in Westworld. As my colleagues have noted, you need just one pump for your whole face, and it has a thick, paintlike texture. But it blended easily with a Beauty Blender, and buffed over some little zits and hyperpigmentation to make my skin look incredibly even, smooth, and less gray. Unlike some foundations which can make you look like plaster, the undertones and finish of this made me look more awake and well-rested. It didn’t settle into any lines, and it lasted really well through a workout class, some fine misty rain drizzle, and six-plus hours of wear.

I wish I’d had this on-hand for the summer. Its long wear and perfecting abilities would make this an excellent foundation for Megyn Kelly or anyone who has to be on TV but doesn’t want to look crazy in person. It also felt nice — my skin felt soft and not spackled. Do note you might have some difficulty color-matching because it takes a little for the foundation to settle (I kept thinking, This is too light, I think I have the wrong color) but go with your true color.

Nana Agyemang, Instagram Editor

The foundation melted onto my skin. At first it looked pretty light and didn’t blend, but after letting it sit for five minutes it matched my skin tone really well. It doesn’t oxidize. It’s a stay-on-all-day foundation and I didn’t have to do any touch-ups. However, I did notice that over time, certain areas appeared a tad gray (if I were to use it again I would apply color corrector under it). Overall, I feel beautiful and flawless in the foundation and it’s going to be my next go-to.

Daise Bedolla, Social Editor

I’m usually a 4.25 (“light skin with peachy undertones”) in my Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, but I’m a 3C (“for fair skin with cool undertones”) in this one. Whereas my Armani foundation plays better with the peachiness of my skin, the Charlotte Tilbury canceled it out, completely matching my neck. I can’t say that my face felt 216 percent more hydrated as the foundation claims, but it was comfortable on my skin and didn’t budge or cake together, even though I didn’t touch up or use a setting spray.

I looked in the mirror when I got home at 11 p.m. and still looked put-together — and visibly less exhausted after five hours of sleep the previous night. My face has been erring on the side of dryness as the season changes, and I’m excited to have this in my arsenal, but the real test will come when the temperatures truly take a dip and my skin descends into full-on desert territory.

THE HYPE

Every beauty brand has its iconic, hero product. For Urban Decay, it was the Naked Palette (RIP), NARS spiced up our beauty regimes with its Orgasm Blusher and Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation gave our skin life, literally.

For Charlotte Tilbury, her most-loved beauty buy *has* to be Pillow Talk. Since the beauty guru unveiled the Pillow Talk Lip Cheat lip liner in 2013, it has been worn by millions, counts Amal Clooney and Gwyneth Paltrow as fans, and has to be consistently re-stocked when it goes on sale.

So, using her beauty brains, Charlotte decided to cash in on its success – by creating an entire makeup range inspired by the original product.

The new Pillow Talk line includes one of her coveted eyeshadow quads and a blush-highlighter compact, as well as the original lipstick and liner combo. People were so desperate to get their hands on the goods when she first released it that there were 25,000 people on the waiting list. When it went on sale, it sold out within days and beauty buffs were left devastated to have missed out on the coveted beauty buy. For anyone who missed out the first time around, we come bearing good news: it’s back in stock. Due to demand, Charlotte has released a limited supply of the range so get it while you can!

The brand say: “Stemming from a lip that is loved by millions of
women, Charlotte Tilbury advocates this colourway for flattering women at every age and any skin tone! It’s the shape-morphing magic of natural looking makeup at its best and was formulated to create what Charlotte Tilbury calls the most beautiful lips of your life.”

GLAMOUR has tried and tested the much talked-about range and here’s what we thought…

REVIEWER:

Bianca London, Website Editor

BEAUTY BIO:

An olive-hued complexion thanks to this sensational British summer but what I’ve gained in bronzing, I’ve lost in glow. I’m hoping this new collection can do the trick.

THE REVIEW:

I am a self-proclaimed Tilbury fanatic – that woman could sell me a jar of air for £1,000, so I dived into the new collection with optimism.

I started with the £30 Pillow Talk Swish & Glow, which Charlotte claims will give your cheeks the ultimate soft, young, fresh, just-kissed blush.

Following the popularity of her Swish & Pop blush technique (literally what it says on the tin), Charlotte’s new blusher follows suit.

You swish your brush around the edge of the blusher to add a pink warmth to cheeks and then pop your blusher brush into the middle section to apply a candle-light glow.

It might sound complicated but, as a lazy gal, I can assure you it’s super simple.

I used a Real Techniques blusher brush and swiped it around the edge, and then gently brushed it across my cheekbones. Whilst other blushers I’ve used in the past give a deep hue that transforms me into a tomato, this soft, subtle glow was the perfect dose.

Next, I just popped my blusher brush into the centre of the palette and brushed it across the high points of my cheeks (apples and temples) for a subtle and warm glow. Plus, it honestly lasted all day. I’m sold.

Next it was onto the £39 Luxury Eye Palette, which Charlotte dubs ‘the ultimate soft contouring, easy-to-use, supermodel eye palette’. Packed with four fresh, pretty pink hues, the four-step sequence (prime, enhance, smoke and pop) allows you to dial them up or down depending on the occasion.

I went for the whole shebang and while I didn’t *exactly* resemble a supermodel, the palette gave me a really lovely natural finish. If I was going out-out, I’d amp up the ‘pop’ hue but for a day-to-day beauty look for ladies who love eyeshadow, this is The One.

THE VERDICT

There’s a reason Pillow Talk reached iconic status and this new collection looks set to do the same. Keep doing you, Charlotte.
