Carson daly today show

It’s Carson Daly’s last call on “Last Call.”

Carson has announced that he will no longer host the NBC late-night show, ending a 17-year run.

The TV vet has elected to leave the 1:30 a.m. show, which debuted in 2002, to focus on his roles with TODAY and “The Voice,” as well as spend more time with his family.

Carson’s 10-day challenge confessional: ‘It’s not for me’

Jan. 29, 201901:25

“If you had told me in 2002 I would be a part of the historic NBC late-night family for 17 years, I would have said you were crazy!” Daly said. “Hard to believe it’s been so long — 2,000 episodes. It’s time to move on to something new and let someone else have access to this incredible platform.”

And at least one enduring thing came out of those 2,000 episodes: He met and ultimately married segment producer Siri Pinter, who joined him on TODAY Wednesday.

“We were fully above board,” he insisted about their relationship. “It worked out quite well. Honestly, 17 years … it was a good run — it was a great run.”

The 45-year-old says it’s time to embrace different challenges.

“My 20s was about finding a good job,” he said. “My 30s was about taking on as many of them as I could. Now, in my 40’s, I’m focused on quality over quantity. I want to do more with my TODAY family and continue hosting and producing ‘The Voice’ and explore new opportunities.”

NBC is expected to reveal a new show in “Last Call’s” time slot, and it’s unclear when Carson’s final episode will air.

Though he is looking ahead to new opportunities, including teaming with the Golf Channel, Carson knows none of them can hold a candle to being a family man.

“I could have all the jobs in the world, but none of them are more important to me than that of Dad,” Carson, a father of three, said. “My family will always remain my top priority and greatest gig.”

Before he met his current wife Siri Pinter, TV host Carson Daly famously dated high-profile actresses like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Tara Reid. But eventually the former MTV VJ realized he wanted a different kind of partner for the long term. He broke off his first engagement and “dodged a bullet,” he told Elle in 2012.

“I realized I’d have more in common with a regular person than with a celebrity,” he said. “There were values I was more likely to find in a nice, Midwestern girl than one who was living on the coast, pursuing fame.”

Carson found that in Siri, and after more than 13 years together, they’re still going strong. Here’s the backstory behind their relationship and what makes it so sweet.

They met on the set of Last Call with Carson Daly

After working as a VJ on Total Request Live, Carson started hosting his own late-night talk show on NBC in 2002. Siri started working there in 2005 as a writer’s assistant when she hit it off with Carson. Her family also has ties to the TV biz. Her dad is Mark Pinter, a daytime soap opera star who’s appeared on Love of Life, Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Loving, and All My Children.

“She would walk into our meetings and I would look at the other dudes in the room, like, ‘Do you see what I see?’ It was undeniable,” Carson told People.

The couple initially kept their workplace romance a secret, sneaking out after work to meet at a nearby dive bar and shoot pool, Carson revealed on Today. Eventually, it became time to go public.

“We realized we were in love and it wasn’t just an office romance,” he said to Elle.

They got engaged in 2013

After several years of dating, Carson and Siri welcomed two children together: Jackson James Daly, born in 2009, and Etta Jones Daly, born in 2012. But despite their close connection and growing family, the couple didn’t feel any rush to head to the altar.

“I think long-lasting, healthy relationships are more important than the idea of marriage,” Carson said to Elle. “At the root of every successful marriage is a strong partnership. And that’s what we have.”

Carson eventually proposed to Siri in the fall of 2013, and the next summer they welcome their third child, London Rose Daly. However, the couple kept fending off wedding rumors.

“Our lives have been crazy,” Carson told People. “We’ll get married when we have time. The husband and wife thing is just the bow around something. Our end game is we want to be together forever.”

Siri later started her own food blog, Siriously Delicious

After she left Last Call in 2009 to have her son, Siri realized that she missed writing.

Siriously Delicious: 100 Nutritious (and Not So Nutritious) Simple Recipes for the Real Home Cook amazon.com $26.99 $16.56 (39% off)

“Starting a food blog wasn’t like I was suddenly a foodie, it was more like ‘Oh my gosh, I am in this domestic situation — how do people do it?'” she told the Long Island Press. “I started to keep track of meals that were working and meals that weren’t and then writing with humor along the way. A lot of feedback I have had over the years is when people tell me that they don’t cook, but I make them want to try. It’s a great compliment because that is my goal, to make cooking seem approachable and fun.”

The success of the blog helped open up other doors along the way. Now Siri regularly contributes to the Today Show and often appears alongside Carson in cooking segments. Last year, she also released her own cookbook, Siriously Delicious: 100 Nutritious (and Not So Nutritious) Simple Recipes for the Real Home Cook.

They had a surprise wedding in 2015

After 10 years together, Carson and Siri tied the knot in a small ceremony on December 23, 2015 — right before Christmas.

“I wanted a hoverboard, I got a wife,” Carson joked in an interview with Today. Siri wore a lace J.Crew dress to the church ceremony, and all three children attended. Jackson even walked his mother down the aisle.

“It was great that the kids were a little bit older,” Carson explained. “They actually knew what was going on.”

Not everyone one knew what was going on. The bride and groom actually surprised their moms (who were both visiting) with the impromptu ceremony!

They’re still totally in love

Today, the couple is focused on raising their three kids together. On September 20, Carson announced that Siri was pregnant with baby number four, who is expected to arrive next spring.

“We couldn’t be happier to share the news that our family is growing by one this spring,” the couple shared. “We are continually amazed by God’s blessings in our lives. Our entire family is grateful and so excited!”

Carson Daly is going through a heartbreaking time.

On Tuesday, the 44-year-old television personality replied to a fan on Twitter, who asked why he wasn’t on the Today show. Daly shared that he’s still grieving the sudden loss of his mother last month, and talked about his father’s serious health issues.

“Short story, been a rough month for my fam. Mom passing. Dad’s health in peril. Just finished shooting NEXT season of Voice. Back Thursday,” Daly wrote.

Carson Daly Shares Heartbreaking Letter From His Late Mother Following His Return to ‘Today’ Show

Daly’s mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, died on Sept. 17 after suffering a heart attack in her Palm Desert, California, home. Daly returned to the Today show less than a month after Caruso’s death, and said he was still in “shock” over the loss.

“I’ve learned it’s a process,” he added of how he was coping. “I have great faith, great family, incredible friends.”

In a statement about his mom’s death, Daly said that her “spark will shine on for eternity.”

“Kiki, as she was known to her grandchildren and many others, touched so many lives with her kindness, her giant spirit and her love of life,” he said. “She will be terribly missed by her family and the world, but her spark will shine for eternity.”

How Carson Daly of the ‘Today Show,’ ‘The Voice’ Met His Wife

Carson Daly has served as host to many shows, as well as being an anchor on a top morning news program. Currently working on both coasts – east for the Today Show, west for The Voice – Daly is also a hands-on family man with wife Siri Pinter and their three kids. With such a busy schedule, it’s no surprise that Daly first met his wife on one of his many hosting gigs.

Quite the career

Daly actually started in radio as an intern for Jimmy Kimmel, according to Heavy. From there he went on to MTV, where he headed Total Request Live (TRL) in 1998. The show ran for 10 years with Daly at the helm. “There were a lot of highs and lows to that. I’m proud of what we did in New York there after 9/11 – I was part of the team that went back to work right away,” Daly told Today.com. We were one of first productions that went back on air, and we had to really think about what to tell the kids watching TRL.”

Daly moved to NBC to host Last Call with Carson Daly in 2002. The following year, he also started his annual gig hosting NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly, a post he still continues each year. Daly must have still had room in his schedule, because he then went on to produce and emcee The Voice in 2011, and join the news desk on the Today Show in 2013. Last Call aired its final show in May.

Not just an office romance

With all those hosting gigs, it makes sense that Daly met his wife, Siri Pinter, in the workplace. In 2005, Pinter began working on Last Call as a writer’s assistant, according to Good Housekeeping. “She would walk into our meetings and I would look at the other dudes in the room, like, ‘Do you see what I see?’ It was undeniable,” Daly told People.

The two kept their relationship private for a while, but soon knew it would be worth it to go public. “We realized we were in love and it wasn’t just an office romance,” he said, as reported by Good Housekeeping.

The two dated for several years, then got engaged in 2013 after having two children – Jackson James, born in 2009, and Etta Jones, born in 2012. After their engagement, their third child was born – daughter London Rose. After 10 years together, the two married in December 2015 with their three children in attendance, according to Good Housekeeping.

She is Siriously a good cook

Pinter left Last Call in 2009, and felt a calling to her love of writing. She decided to launch her own food blog, Siriously Delicious, in 2010. “Starting a food blog wasn’t like I was suddenly a foodie, it was more like ‘Oh my gosh, I am in this domestic situation — how do people do it?’” Pinter said, according to the Long Island Press. “I started to keep track of meals that were working and meals that weren’t and then writing with humor along the way. A lot of feedback I have had over the years is when people tell me that they don’t cook, but I make them want to try. It’s a great compliment because that is my goal, to make cooking seem approachable and fun.”

The food blogger has also appeared several times on the Today Show for cooking segments, often with the assistance of her husband. Pinter released her first cookbook last year, “Siriously Delicious: 100 Nutritious (and Not So Nutritious) Simple Recipes for the Real Home Cook.”

Daly and Pinter both clearly have thriving careers, though it’s easy to see their family takes top priority. “After this many years, I know who I am. My life is not television,” Daly told People in 2014. “I’m a family man first and foremost. Everything I do in this business, it all pays off when I come home.”

The Daly family is getting a little bit bigger.

Carson Daly announced on Friday that he and his wife are expecting baby No. 4. The news stunned not only his fans but his “Today” colleagues,” who looked visibly surprised when the 46-year-old shared his exciting news.

“Siri Daly, my incredible wife, she is gearing up for a big spring because that’s when she’s going to give birth to fourth and newest member of the Daly family,” Carson said on “Today” Friday morning. “That’s right, she’s pregnant. I love you!”

It’s last call for Carson Daly.

NBC announced Tuesday that the longtime host of “Last Call with Carson Daly” will exit the late-night show after 17 years later this year, although a final date has not yet been announced.

The move comes as Daly, 45, seeks to focus more on his family, as well as his hosting duties on both NBC’s “The Voice” in prime time and the Orange Room on “Today” in the mornings. He also has a few new projects in the works with Golf Channel, although did not share specifics in a statement released Tuesday.

“I’m very excited to fulfill other areas I’m passionate about within our company,” Daly said. “I could have all the jobs in the world, but none of them are more important to me than that of Dad. My family will always remain my top priority and greatest gig.”

When he leaves, “Last Call,” an interview talk show, will have aired more than 2,000 episodes since its premiere in 2002. It is unclear whether NBC will find another host for “Last Call,” or a new half-hour show to fill the 1:30 a.m. EST/PST time slot, following Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” and Seth Meyers’ “Late Night.”

Today show co-anchor Carson Daly has landed in hot water with Instagram followers.

In light of Hoda Kotb’s second adoption and Jenna Bush Hager’s pregnancy, The Voice host went on Instagram on Tuesday, and shared a picture of a Today coffee mug with the words “Baby Making Juice” on top of it.

Many folks thought his joke was hilarious, with one fan calling his post “the best reaction to all the news.”

With that being said, there were several who thought his joke was “insensitive.” Why? Because his co-star, Dylan Dreyer, recently revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage while trying to get pregnant for the second time with her husband, Brian Fichera. It also doesn’t really help that this week Jenna opened up about her ectopic pregnancy before having her daughter Mila, and that Hoda had past infertility struggles after her breast cancer treatment left her unable to conceive.

“@carsondaly i think you can congratulate and be happy for your colleagues without being insensitive to those close by who are struggling. 🤷‍♀️ Perhaps a different message and post?!” one fan wrote. “Seems tone deaf given the 3rd hour @carsondaly,” another noted, referring to Dylan’s story.

Seeing some of his fans’ negative reactions, Carson decided to respond and defend himself.

“More that I left for a few days & 2 colleagues announced pregnancies,” he wrote. “Dylan’s article is amazing and I love her to death!”

While Dylan hasn’t directly addressed Carson’s Instagram post, she made it clear on Today that she is nothing but happy for both Hoda and Jenna, and is doing her best to say positive.

“My sadness doesn’t take away from anyone else’s happiness, and my sadness isn’t minimized because someone has a sadder situation,” Dylan explained on the show.

• Carson Daly is ending Last Call with Carson Daly after 17 years.

• The Voice host took to Twitter to explain why he decided to leave the show behind.

Carson Daly is saying goodbye to Last Call with Carson Daly.

Carson’s longstanding show is coming to an end after 17 years, according to Deadline. The series follows Carson as he, “turns LA into his own studio with cool venues, big talent, and live music.” What that really means is that the 45-year-old hits the streets during each episode to help discover emerging performers.

The Voice host decided to leave Last Call behind in order to focus on his variety of other projects. He responded to the news in a series of tweets that explained his many reasonings, one of which included spending more time with his family, wife Siri and kids Etta, Jackson, and London:

Yes, Last Call is wrapping up! I’m forever grateful & proud to all who have worked w us over the years. So many have gone on to incredible success. I owe our EP Stewart Bailey & team a bottle of something expensive. They masterfully keep this train on the track for many years. I want to focus more on @TODAYshow and @NBCTheVoice & other areas I’m passionate about within our company. For example, The Golf Channel has always been a favorite & we have a few exciting things in the works. I look forward to building on that.. And honestly, I could have all the jobs in the world, but none of them are more important to me than that of Dad. My family will always remain my top priority and greatest gig.

Carson’s touching notes aside, if you find yourself thinking: “Hmm, I’m not sure I knew this show even existed,” you are not alone. Fans took to social media to express their own confusion over the announcement. “That’s still on the air?” one person wrote, while another said, “I truly had no idea Carson Daly had a late night tv show.”

When tested with an XRF instrument, this orange and white Today Show official set mug had the following readings:

White on outside of mug:

Orange “rainbow” on outside of mug:

  • Same reading set (similar range for all elements noted) as base white of outside.

Black “Today” text on outside of mug:

Orange glazed inside (food surface) of mug:

Any additional metals not listed were not detected. As with all posts on this blog, all tests were done with a Niton XL3T XRF instrument in “Consumer Goods” mode, for at least 60 seconds . Results are science based and replicable.

Is Cadmium a problem?

Note: just because the mug tests POSITIVE for CADMIUM (a known carcinogen / known to cause cancer) that does not mean it is definitely leaching Cadmium. In fact, newer mugs are likely tested for leaching of toxicants (at the time of manufacture).

My big concern is what happens with a mug over it’s entire life span; not whether or not it is leaching just at the time of manufacture, but is it leaching after years of extensive daily heavy use – with acidic and hot beverages (normal, anticipated use for a coffee mug). Leach-testing is only performed – and those results relevant – at the time of manufacture. Mugs have been shown to leach over time with more use as they age (despite the fact that they may not have leached any toxicants when tested at the time of initial manufacture!)

Accordingly, I would personally avoid this mug, would not drink out of it if you offered me coffee in it once — and definitely would not have one in my own home. Hopefully, now that this information is available, “The Today Show” might choose to make safer choices for the mugs for their hosts and guests.

To reiterate why I am doing these posts:

While “Toxicants In On-Set Talk-Show Mugs” is obviously an absurdly arcane and limited “consumer product concern”… I thought it might be a fun “conversation-starter”; I wanted to get the attention of talk show hosts on the real issue: the continued widespread use of neurotoxic heavy metals (like Lead and Cadmium) in mass-marketed manufactured consumer goods — so that I could hopefully draw their attention to the fact that, for instance, I have found many newly-manufactured BABY BOTTLES with Lead in them in the past 2+ years, yet – incredibly – no regulatory agency is doing anything about those findings — nor have any recalls been initiated as a result of those findings!

I know the “news cycle” has a short attention span, and there’s undeniably a LOT of crazy and troubling stuff to report on these days, but come on — if LEAD-PAINTED logos and other markings on freakin’ BABY BOTTLES in 2019 isn’t worthy of a few minutes of serious journalistic attention, just what the heck is?!

As always, thank you so much for reading and for sharing my posts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
